  • MRI - WHOLE BODY LOCALISER - How I Do It
    Today I will share with you from scratch how you can create a localizer which automatically compose together for whole body imaging, spine imaging etc.
    Tune in, join me, and also remember to check out my PATREON here: / bacmri
    Thanks for watching, following and support.

    Thank you Bac, you are so generous with what you know. I am the tech that has gotten the cold shoulder in this field. I was given a rare opportunity to train into MRI on my very first day at work as a certified mammographer and rad tech. I scanned for 2 years without really having the technical classroom aspect. When I finally went to school for this, I wasn't scanning anymore which made it hard to make the transition. To make matters worse those two years I spent scanning was on an old Hitachi. Now that I've moved along and gotten my certification, I know there's a lot of unwillingness among techs to train others what they know. The irony of it all One tech learns at the mercy of another who is willing to remember someone showed them how. I've had alot of opposition in this field and I turned to pages like yours to teach myself through your instruction. God bless you for what you do.

    Hello Bac, ant way to do something similar on software without Tim planning as far as having multiple steps and automatic composing?

    I find Haste Localizer best on parts with huge FOV such as Pelvis/Spine, but I still use Flash on small parts such as in the ankle and foot.
    Flash just displays the bones a lot better compare to haste but I think Haste on the other hand has a lot more contrast making it a lot better to identify the location and mass/pathologies of the part being examined.

    I have tried this for spine imaging. It works for me intermittently. It will often ask me to increase the TR on the 2nd stage & when this happens, it won't compose. I do sagittal & coronal locs only. I use a 450 FOV & center on the chin.

    Sir the scanning time of Haste localiser is short but I found that the time spend on shimming and preparation is longer than other localiser. is there any way to minimize the preparation and pre scan shimming time? and what is the effect of turning off the green shimmning box?

    • @Nguyen_MRI
      @Nguyen_MRI  Рік тому +2

      Shimming doesn’t take long time here though. Goes fast here. The shim was visually on the test here. I just turned the visualisation off. It’s still there.

    • @Chronove
      @Chronove Рік тому

      You can switch the shimming to use Tune-Up (should be in the system tab)
      also try disabling pre-scan (resolution -> filter, in the top right) which makes it a bit faster, instead you can use the normalize function below it
      "turning off the green box" -> You probably mean just hiding it. Using Tune-Up you will notice the box being big and crookedly placed. It's the shim that was setup during your scanners installation, and whilst its super imperfect for fat-sat and pretty much any actual imaging, its totally fine for localizers, requiring the least amount of time before a scan

    Sir how to reduce timings in abdomen scan? What is the difference between trigger and phase scout??

    • @Nguyen_MRI
      @Nguyen_MRI  Рік тому +1

      Liver dome: selects a navigator which tracks the diaphragm edge. this navigator is positioned manually by the operator on the edge of the diaphragm in the coronal reference image.
      phase scout: selects a navigator which detects tiny fluctuations of the b0 field induced by the breathing of the patient.

      @@Nguyen_MRI to add to it, use of Concantenations and minimum TR is important.
      For T2 and STIR sequences, TR can start from 700ms;
      Whereas for T1 sequences, TR can start 120ms. These tips help in reducing scan time especially if the scan is a breathhold technique.
      I enjoy using Liver dome navigator in MRCP and scanning of Paediatrics Chest and Abdomen on T2 sequences
