I agree with the sentiment that the story in TLoU2 could've been good, but I hard disagree that the ordering was the main problem. You still have to rework the story for better fitting elements, like if the theme is "Revenge bad" then have it so that Abby isnt getting a better friend than the ones she starts with, and in honor of what made Joel great Joel isn't forgetting a quarter century of survival tatics in order to be killed.

Game review companies need to just make a standardized rating system based on music, atmosphere etc., etc. As one score, and then have a reviewer score as themselves. They line people up with the games they believe they'd enjoy and then set a standard for the tone of the review for the audience. Have one person do major shooter RPG's, have another person do more whimsical games like Spongebob. Give people a genre to specialize in that they enjoy playing games from. It's a very simple system yet they have created something dumb and completely subjective.
I had fun with Days Gone after installing a trainer, removing the stamina all together and infinite ammo. It made it more like an aimlab type game in a zombie setting with a bike.
I played days gone on release. And sure I could walk around n and out of a fridge asset and one time I got launched 50 feet in the air for no reason and died. But I found the whole thing a stupid fun time and enjoyed it a lot and thought the game got loads of unfair criticism.
I love the IGN for Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition where they mispronounce all of the main character names. They would have known them if they actually played the game Edit: Nevermind, it’s in the video.
Wow, couldn't disagree more. Days Gone was fantastic. I didn't have any issues when I started at launch(not saying they weren't there, I just didn't have them) Ended up finishing it later on, and it's one of my favorite games of the PS4 generation. The Horde mechanic was amazing and it made me like a horror situation in a game where I don't like Horror, in film or in gaming. It's boring, not scary, and I have never liked it. But in DG, fantastic and made me feel tension and anxiety like I've never felt in any game ever.
Day's Gone has a 92% overall rating on steam, with an 85% recent. You can shake your head all you want, but the numbers and sales don't lie. It was a good game, if not your type. As for a more divisive title? Incorrect. Last of Us Part II was despised by the majority of people, just not critics. Critics don't count as an "other side", as this video itself is trying to prove how out of touch they are. The most legitimately divisive title was Death Stranding. Where MANY people loved it. Truly loved the gameplay. And many other disliked it.
Gen 2 Pokémon was like the last time they put in genuine effort. After that it’s us who were too happy to be fed more Pokémon or some small feature or another for a new game. Gold Silver was the last time there was a legit vibe to the games. I get a lot of people grew up with the DS games but they are already sure of their tone and feel I think. In short Pokémon 1 and 2 are RPGs whereas everything after was an annual release sports game. I don’t think Nintendo would have continued the franchise without the armies of fans and most of the older people didn’t get it because you have to make some sort of emotional connection to the Pokémon for it to be fun. In terms of RPG it’s obtuse chaotic and limited. Most of the older gamers I now never got the appeal at all. So I think a lot of it is also the target demographic.
Gotta say that Eurogamer and Kotaku are easily the poster children for bad games journalism They are leagues worse than IGN. IGN is still pretty bad most of the time, but no where near the level of the other two
Imo IGN commited sepuku with the validity of their opinion when they reviewed Alien Isolation. I still think that review is the reason we didnt get a second game because so many people took that review as gospel
It’s funny I recently played last of us 2 and Joel stuff notwithstanding I agree that they could re order the game and it would have worked better. Imo the game should have just swapped the abby and Ellie section. And then it should have been marketed as Abby’s story as part 2. Show that your playing as the after math if 1 etc. and then have the twist be after the events of Abby’s section you then see the “revenge” scene which would have been a surprise and then go through Ellie’s part. I also think a multiple ending would have been better too giving the player a choice to finish off the other if they wanted. And make “their ending” the cannon one
I don’t like big game review companies. But the entire video that guy made had terrible points on a lot of subjects along with terrible comparisons. He also seemed extremely fan boyish about a lot of the games shown and just overall didn’t do a good job at explaining the bad reviews.
i understand having the flashbacks come first but i also understand why they sprinkled them throughout the story was to see what ellie was thinking about and it re ignites the anger we felt of joel just like ellie in the game
i havent played it yet but genuinely curious why you like it so much . i struggle to convince myself to buy it because im afraid ill get burnt out of the constant walking.
Dunkey dud a good video where he shows the reactions in the comments of games given high scores vs. games given mediocre and "low" scores. Its called How To Be a Good Game Reviewer
Would have played BO3 more but that was a weird time when nobody i knew was gaming so i was really sad playing it alone, the zombies was great. Pretty sure thats the one with the DLC for all the old zombies maps its goated for that alone.
I mean... they are totally different games. If u go compare scores like they are the exact same it just shows how dumb you are, as this dumbass video maker demonstrates with his dumb comparisons with totally different games.
9.2 honestly is deserved for bo3 cause zombies is so huge and perfect there is infinite replayibility. It carries the entire game and multiplayer is honestly pretty fun. It isnt perfect by all means but even if it had a good campaign it would be heavily overshadowed by zombies story in this game and mp
I think all reviews should be taken with a pinch of salt, they are normally one individual person playing. Maybe if a different person from IGN/multiple people from IGN played the games the scores would be different. A side not to the above: Maybe they do have mutliple people play and one does the reviews and says the main points that they all pick up on (unlikely but who knows?) Everyone's experience of a game is different, I may rate uncharted lower/higher than the next person etc. I think when it comes to reviews you either need to watch/read several from different people and then make your decision or just don't take them into account whatsoever. I'd sooner play for myself and then make a judgement rather than listen to another person's opinion and use that to make a decision.
I think Last of Us Part 2 is a litmus test for how much does someone actually care about hearing another person's point of view versus just pushing and agreeing with their own. Having us start off as a character we already love then to make us play a character we are already primed to hate is a powerful move that shows the importance of perspective. By the end of Abby's story, you understand her. You don't have to agree with her, you just need to listen to her story and learn why she is that way. And seeing Ellie start to slip into the same pit as she did, but then redeeming herself, shows that Ellie now understands and becomes a better person because of it. I don't know how much more obvious it can be that the message of the story is about learning, listening, and undersranding. People are allowed to dislike the game. It's definitely not perfect, but what matters are their reasons. If their justification for hating it has something to do with Joel or Abby and not the gameplay, then they completely miss what the story is trying to do.
TLoU2 is told in that order to make the player feel frustrated before coming around to her. They tried the story in different orders, and this one worked the best.
God hand's score was actually nuts but understandable IF you've actually tried getting into God Hand for the first time. It really is that bad when you're trying to learn it sometimes lol, trust me. I love the game, but it definitely is goofy with how obtuse it is at times.
the worst review of all time has to be Pokemon Explorer of Sky's, just absolutely horrendous, gave a 4 score to easily the best or second best pokemon game ever made
Man, I thought the video would bring up NBA 2K19. On top of it just being the same NBA game as the year prior but prettier, 2K19 tried some truly egregious monetization nonsense - like lootboxes that got 2K sued, and unskippable ads in the form of commercial breaks - yet IGN gave it an 8.5?? I remember being second-hand LIVID about that one.
Death Stranding is suppose to be a slow experience. I guess people have TikTok brains nowadays, so it’s hard for them to enjoy something with a slower pace.
I'm fine with the slower pace to the gameplay, but the intro is a legitimate problem. I think it's something like 4 hours before you're truly free and on your way. Thats a problem with Kojima imo. MGS5 is a great game, but it takes an hour before you're done with cutscenes and that goes throughout all of his games that I can think of.
Deaths stranding is so dumb lol. Interesting story and world but the walking gameplay is stupid. If the gameplay loop was anything else with the same story and world it could be good. But it's not.

If you're counting the campaign, which is perhaps one of the most poorly executed cod campaigns ever, then the game is def not a 9.5 / 10. Zombies is great, and while I personally hated the MP, it's definitely not the worst, and I can see why others enjoyed it. 9.5 is too generous though imo.
9.2 is high for cod but bo3 was good I would give it a 7.5. I am bias as a zombies player but nether less the fact it was actually a good game. The multiplayer was good just didn’t like the supply drop System but that can be blamed on AW. the zombies in bo3 is honestly the best thing call of duty has created, Jason Blundell and the team created a masterpiece for us fans. And The graphic design for bo3 was phenomenal and still holds up till today. Plus for content creators the game was magnificent. And I know it’s not in the original game but the most important aspect is the custom zombies it’s single handly keeping the zombies community alive. Bo3 was that last good old school cod all the cods after just don’t give that fun that bo3 did or bo1,bo2,mw2,mw3 did

@@brieleeee bro wut? the entire journey for both characters was about revenge. Abby's entire goal was to kill joel for revenge for killing her father and then Eliie's entire journey was to kill abby for revenge, THEEEEEEN when she momentarily gave up on it for tommy got mad at her for giving up on revenge so she goes out for revenge again.
I disagree on death stranding. The gameplay was alot of fun to me lol
The only one that was egregious was Alien Isolation. The rest just felt like the dude was way overreacting.
I loved Days Gone. Its a little slow at first but it definitely does not deserve that score.
Unleashed was lowkey lit
Something you miss is ign reviews single player for cod. That was the review for the campaign
bo3 campaign was a confusing clusterfrik lol
Days gone good, soundtrack bussin
Meanwhile, Death Stranding is one of my favorite games of the last ten years. Loved it.
Black Ops 3 Zombies alone deserves a 9.2
So real
Yeah zombies carried bo3 lmaoo
bo3 zombies is so good
with steam workshop id agree. But that review was way before any workshop maps or dlc maps.
I had fun with Days Gone after installing a trainer, removing the stamina all together and infinite ammo. It made it more like an aimlab type game in a zombie setting with a bike.
Sounds hella boring
I played days gone on release. And sure I could walk around n and out of a fridge asset and one time I got launched 50 feet in the air for no reason and died. But I found the whole thing a stupid fun time and enjoyed it a lot and thought the game got loads of unfair criticism.
The fact that Charlie finished Golum, but couldn't finish the Days Gone is just 💀💀💀
I love the IGN for Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition where they mispronounce all of the main character names. They would have known them if they actually played the game
Edit: Nevermind, it’s in the video.
team aqua uses water types?? holy shit man this is huge
Played days gone without performance issue and was dumbfounded why it was not popular for how good it was and how worth the price for its content is.
I absolutely loved Battle for Bikini-Bottom when i was younger, probably my favorite game as a kid and for nostalgia now, i still have fun playing it
Gen 2 Pokémon was like the last time they put in genuine effort. So I think a lot of it is also the target demographic.
someone never played legends
Gotta say that Eurogamer and Kotaku are easily the poster children for bad games journalism
They are leagues worse than IGN.
Honestly, Kojima would be far better at making films than games at this point.
My only reference for Sonic Unleashed was watching the Game Grumps play it, and it looked extremely unfun
the gameplay footage in the sonic unleashed review triggers me, theyre not even boosting. its like they didnt even know you could boost
Anyone bashing Days gone just sucked at the game
Lmao no
Days gone after the patches is an amazing experience
Definitely not for everyone but I personally think death stranding is a masterpiece. Been in my top 3 of all time ever since it came out.
i havent played it yet but genuinely curious why you like it so much . i struggle to convince myself to buy it because im afraid ill get burnt out of the constant walking.
@@demonigod414680% walking 20% gameplay
@@demonigod4146for me it the story is what I loved most abt it, I also thought it was fun exploring
you can get vehicles and stuff
Bo3 was top tier, I still and always will love it - the zombies alone was definitely better than uncharted
Dunkey dud a good video where he shows the reactions in the comments of games given high scores vs. games given mediocre and "low" scores. Its called How To Be a Good Game Reviewer
I didn't even know DOOM (2016) even had multi-player.
It was a big part of the game’s pre-release period.
Would have played BO3 more but that was a weird time when nobody i knew was gaming so i was really sad playing it alone, the zombies was great. Pretty sure thats the one with the DLC for all the old zombies maps its goated for that alone.
Black Ops 3 is the cod goat off zombies alone and i loved the multiplayer too dark matter still the coolest mastery camo ever
Black ops 3 is a top 5 call of duty of all time.
When I saw the video title I said too much water out loud
Charlie got super speed peeing, he comes back so quick
honestly black ops 3 was one of the last good cods
IGN should've done the logical and rate games based on categories. That was CoD 9.2 cant be compared to Uncharted 9
I mean... they are totally different games. If u go compare scores like they are the exact same it just shows how dumb you are, as this dumbass video maker demonstrates with his dumb comparisons with totally different games.
I recently played days gone and while yes it can be slow the gameplay and story are better than a 6
Days gone is actually a very good game
9.2 honestly is deserved for bo3 cause zombies is so huge and perfect there is infinite replayibility. It carries the entire game and multiplayer is honestly pretty fun. It isnt perfect by all means but even if it had a good campaign it would be heavily overshadowed by zombies story in this game and mp
I think all reviews should be taken with a pinch of salt, they are normally one individual person playing. Maybe if a different person from IGN/multiple people from IGN played the games the scores would be different.
A side not to the above: Maybe they do have mutliple people play and one does the reviews and says the main points that they all pick up on (unlikely but who knows?)
Everyone's experience of a game is different, I may rate uncharted lower/higher than the next person etc.
You'd better mention the Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition review, they didn't even say the character's names right!!!
TLoU2 is told in that order to make the player feel frustrated before coming around to her. They tried the story in different orders, and this one worked the best.
The video is one more proof IGN is right about giving every game a 8 or 9… Players don’t like low scores
I hate to say it but this video had a really bloated third act
I thought death stranding was super fun and extremely addicting. Just goes to show people have different opinions and that's fine.
God hand's score was actually nuts but understandable IF you've actually tried getting into God Hand for the first time. It really is that bad when you're trying to learn it sometimes lol, trust me. I love the game, but it definitely is goofy with how obtuse it is at times.
the worst review of all time has to be Pokemon Explorer of Sky's, just absolutely horrendous, gave a 4 score to easily the best or second best pokemon game ever made
Too much water was def a meme before ORAS
Also S&S is goated sue me!
"Its a game with guns, what on earth is she blathering abouT!" absolutely killed me, buddy is so heated im dead
My boy commentating genuinely geeking 💀
I got Days Gone after the issues had been fixed, so have no idea how bad it was at launch, but I can say that I absolutely loved playing it.
Death Stranding is a masterpiece
Man, I thought the video would bring up NBA 2K19. On top of it just being the same NBA game as the year prior but prettier, 2K19 tried some truly egregious monetization nonsense - like lootboxes that got 2K sued, and unskippable ads in the form of commercial breaks - yet IGN gave it an 8.5?? I remember being second-hand LIVID about that one.
I remember Prey got a lot of backlash for their score.
I think I hate the dude doing this list
Black Ops 3 was a great game, top 3 call of duty imo
No mention of the God Hand review huh?
*sigh*
@@joshbrucks then it's just not for you. You aren't complaining about anything being technically wrong with the mechanics, just that you don't like them. It isn't for everyone
Jup charlie streams it so all the atmosphere of being alone in this beautiful world is gone, he also turned the music off which basically ruins half of the game.
Slow Paced≠Good
This video is a reminder to do your OWN research and not go to game journalists
I still play bo3 zombies that game was really a 9.5/10
If you're counting the campaign, which is perhaps one of the most poorly executed cod campaigns ever, then the game is def not a 9.5 / 10. Zombies is great, and while I personally hated the MP, it's definitely not the worst, and I can see why others enjoyed it. 9.5 is too generous though imo.
10:20 i like how everyone was surprised Joel died even tho he said there was going to be a spoiler
Bo3 was the best zombies but yeah that’s literally the only reason to still pay full price for it
9.2 is high for cod but bo3 was good I would give it a 7.5. Bo3 was that last good old school cod all the cods after just don’t give that fun that bo3 did or bo1,bo2,mw2,mw3 did
Man he's really butt hurt about that Black Ops 3 score. That was the Pinnacle of zombies and the multiplayer was good too he's crazy, that's my favorite call of duty.
Way too high of a score
My biggest issue with black ops 3 is the twist at the end of the campaign. It makes no sense to me. I've watch video essays about it and it still makes no sence.
My friend got me alpha sapphire as a birthday gift when i was like 11 and i really enjoyed it
Dude, Days Gone is a straight banger. Idk how it was on release, but now it's super good. Go back and play, Mr. White.
