Your guys’ product looks absolutely top-notch. When I first entered the world of epoxy, due to the nature of what I was looking to accomplish, my main goal was to find some type of a casting solution that had optical clarity on par with glass or better. It looks like y’all have achieved this goal and tbh may have even took it a step further. I already placed an order for some Wisebond epoxy and I am super stoked for it to arrive so I can start making some stuff. Not only is your product top notch in the clarity department, but it’s not even close to being the most expensive option on the market AND it has EXCELLENT UV resistance, at least from what I can surmise from the results of the tests contained in this video. How do you guys do it? Haha

Listen (or i guess read), this is the type of work and effort that goes into a true quality channel. I personally want you to know that on this app, I constantly hear "remember to like and subscribe.." (or something to that effect), and each time I move on almost out of spite.
I've never seen you or your channel, but I have just paused at 23:27 to subscribe, drop a like, and write this. I am also going to share this video with my friends of similar interests. THIS INFORMATION IS INVALUABLE as in there is no telling how much money you just saved my business.
Man, you put in 5-6 WEEKS of patient science, (not to mention the video editing, I'm part editor at my day job) and had the kindness of heart to condense it into a detailed 28 min video. Great job and thank you, friend! All the best to you, your business, and channel!

Please tell me that you didnt throw these out!! I would love to come back in a year, and see how they all look after a full year of UV exposure
Excellent test, I've been dabbling with resin for years, way before it became trendy but it hasn't been until recently that I've really started to create more especially now that there's more products designed specifically for use in resin crafting. I'm to the point where these little quart bottles aren't lasting me long. I just bought my first 1 gallon set, I wish I had seen this 2 days ago!! But these will help for next time. Very well done and thought out test. The only thing you could have done different would be have the molds for the slabs not sharing a common wall. That one brand got REALLY hot so no matter how thick the walls between the samples there would be a possibility of heat transfer. But that's being really not picky.
Finally, I think Incredible Solutions looked the best but you can't really rely on people's opinions of an image their viewing in this manner, to many variables. You know the whole "the dress is black & blue or white & green" thing.

  • @Just1Nora
    @Just1Nora 3 роки тому +11

I'd say Wise Bond is the clarity winner, but my preferred choice is actually Incredible Solutions. The difference is that I actually find I like the very slight blue cast because it gives my brain that juicy glass feeling. Does that make sense? We were all kind of taught since childhood that "plastic" is inferior to glass, so if the resin looks just a little bit more like glass it's enough of a brain trick to give you that cold, smooth, "oh I want to feel that," glassy sensation. Also, it's cheaper and has a good hardness. I'm not rich, so if I can save some money without really losing any quality then I'll go for it.
Thanks for this though! I've watched a lot of videos on working with resin lately and everyone uses a different brand.

I really was swayed into Incredible Solutions as the come back winner but the one thing I cannot get over is how damn clear Wisebond is when you do the side shot with the beer behind them and you can see the Special. For that thickness (10"-14" deep?), Wisebond was the only one that you could read the can through the block like it wasn't even there. These two would have to come down to tint preference and work-ability to decide either way. Can't go wrong. UPDATE: Reviews in users feedback tip it back in Incredible Solutions favor.

For my needs, Incredible Solutions has to be the winner here. Since I don't (and don't want to) de-gas my pours, the fact that it comes out almost completely bubble free is much more important than the fact that it's a bit less clear than the other two. And even that is debatable... it may be a bit more milky?
In any case, it beats my usual product (Ryver) by a large margin in clarity, hardness and resistance to UV. And it's cheaper to boot. So I guess I am ordering me some Incredible Solutions for my next project. It can only beat Ryver...
So thanks a lot for the time and effort you've put into this video! It is VERY appreciated! Long life to your channel! :D

"Incredible Solutions" was the one that overall impressed me the most, in the top 3 in clearness, 2nd cheapest (1st cheapest if it was not for a sale), good hardness, top performer for low uv reaction, and the slab pour had the least amount of bubbles by far compared to the others. In the bear can pour test the final top 3 are very comparable, down to personal preference if you ask me, and again I like the look of the incredible solutions beer can pour the most. Extremely impressive, my pick for winner by far, great video!

I wanted Super clear because that’s the one I use and it’s the best price. But after seeing the very end when you look through the sides of each piece at the beer can in the back, if you look at the word (especial) it’s clearest through the wise bond. That said I ‘ll still continue using the Super clear as that was really close and the price point for me works. Awesome test and that clears up a lot actually. A lot of the really expensive ones look like crap. Glad that one of my early choices of epoxy turns out to be one of the best or at least clearest. Thanks for your time it took to conduct this test. Great work and huge fan of yours.

One small issue is that the camera was out of focus for 2 of the last 3 shots. In the very last shot of the beer cans looking though the Epoxy - in the first two shots of the beer cans (for Super Clear 2.0 @25:42 and Incredible Solutions @25:55), the shots are out of focus making them look less clear, whereas in the last shot of Wisebond (@26:08) the focus is set correctly on the beer can making it look clearer. You can tell by looking at the focus of the beer can though the air to see that for the first 2 shots the cans were out of focus.
But this is a very small issue with an otherwise great video. Sub'd and looking forward to your next video.

Awesome video. I was surprised that ultra clear was not on the table. Wisebond is definitely by far the clearest. EDIT: I can't believe how many people voted for Incredible Solutions ... it was the worst of the three. I rewatched the end of the video on my cellphone, desktop and laptop whic all had different type of screens and it was very clear that Wisebond was the winner. You even said you thought it was too at 24:36. Wisebond was the only one that you could see "Especial" on the beer can as though there was nothing in front of it. Looking through the other two you can't even see what it is that you are looking at. Check out 25:41, 25:55 and 26:08 to see what I am talking about. I think most people just considered the bubble factor -- which was NOT the test. If you want to do another comparison, degasse the three, pour and maybe even put into a pressure pot, then see which one has the least bubbles. This was a clarity test not a bubble test. Thank you for putting in so much work doing this video. I would have also liked to have known/seen the odor factor. Once again, great video!

Wow. This is excellent. One tip for the future, tho ... It would be useful to use a background with a consistent color and design. The two stacks of samples had a dark background on the left, and white background on the right. That made it hard to tell how much of the color was from the sample, and how muchh was from the background. Once done with them, setting up a darkened space with controlled lighting and controlled background would make it easier to see clarity, distortion, coloring, etc. Also, there are color pallettes used in photography to calibrate a camera to the lighting in a particular setting. They have standard colors on them, and standard grayscale shading. Getfing one of those off Amazon for $30 or something would help show the optical qualities of the samples, if shot in a controlled photography setting.... Thanks so much for doing this. This obviously took a huge amount of time and money to pull off. It's outstanding!! Thanks so much!!

I love this video. It's a professional approach and is objective rather than subjective. I was surprised at the difference and variance in some of the manufacturers resins. There were clearly 4 that excelled. All that I have to do now is find which are available in the UK ! Thanks for your time and effort in making this video !

The winner IMO is the INCREDIBLE SOLUTIONS!! Super clear without bubbles or occlusions AND its less than $20.00 per liter. Wise Bond was the hardest of all tested, but it had a lot of tiny bubbles when viewed from the edge, it was also the most expensive of the 3 runners up. Super Clear 2.0 was cheap enough, but also had a lot of tiny bubbles when viewed from the edge. I'll definitely be purchasing the Incredible Solutions for all my resin needs! Thank You for all the time you invested in testing all the specifics of each product. Now I, and many more can feel comfortable in what we purchase. Science rocks!!

Hey, Great video. I did my own scoring as you cycled through the epoxies and here is what I came up with:
    Epoxy Score
    Incredible Solutions 10
    WiseBond 9
    Alumilight 9
    EcoPoxy 8
    Ultra Clear 8
    Chemtec 7
    Super Clear 2.0 7
    Mas 6
    Ryver 6
    River Table 6
    Simiron 5
The main reason that I scored Incredible Solutions the best was that for Deep pours on Tables with embedded LEDs or Fiber Optics, you can't degas the items and having as few bubbles as possible is critical. The clarity is important, but slightly less so than bubbles since the wood is typically a tan/yellowish hue anyway.

    • @MattsWoodworks
      @MattsWoodworks  3 роки тому

Hey thanks for the feedback Earl, I do have a questions about your Fiber comment. So you're saying that you cannot degas the resin in the mixing buckets before pouring it into the mould? Will it mess up the fiber? Totally just curious!

So the one I would use is Incredible Solutions. It's 2nd once you did final flat and polish, had less bubbles from the start, so less degas required, it's one of the cheapest, one of the hardest. It just ticks off all the boxes
But for ultimate clear Wisebond was the clear winner. You could more easily and clearly read the beer can from the side of the full sheet.

My preference would be for WiseBond but the other two seem to be very close contenders. If I factor in the price then Superclear 2.0 would win since its about $5 cheaper per liter. There isn't much of a different in price between Incredible Solutions and Superclear 2.0 so these two would realistically be a tie. Thank you for doing this test.
