Yes, I'd put my dog on leach & only let it off once I was sure there was no bear around.

Beautiful animal, and a funny story. However, it was downright terrifying when woman opened her door, and came face to face with a polar bear. That could have easily ended badly.

It's not like the Polar Bear is going to always come from the same direction or be in the same spot or that there is only 1 Polar Bear so looking up the hill before letting the dog out is useless . The fact is if there are bears in the area that could possibly be around dogs should not be let out loose .

I was lucky too when I encountered a bear at a summer camp ,I was a child at the time ,I was coming back from swimming and I was headed to the bunk house to change I looking down on the path where I was walking when I was near the bunk house I looked up and stopped because there was a cinnamon coloured mama bear who was the mother of two baby Cubs she was in front of the bunk house blocking me to go any closer what I did was I very slowly turned around and quietly walked slowly away and I was unharmed I was ok I went into the hall where they where making crafts

Looks like a young bear still learning the ropes. Brings the old admonition "don't feed the bears" to a new urgency.
I read recently these bears can swim 300 km. Is this the "water bear" of Nova Scotia fame?
Who is encroaching on whose territory?

This is crazy! Are folks leaving the dog food out? Or are they just coming in?

Your the sirloin in this bears world. They are running out of available food sources and are looking for new ones "guess where we fit in" 🤔

the bear went over the house,
and what you think he saw?
The other side of the house,
