    Aside from having a little fun with the thumbnail, we got to do another experiment! It's always good when you can combine RV'ing and science...

      I doubt anyone can ever wax a vehicle without saying "Wax on; wax off" at some point.

    Hello! What do you do to wash your windows?

    • @LuvSubbin
      @LuvSubbin  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching! We usually just wash the windows with the same Dawn soap solution. If something gets on the windows on the road, we use Windex.

    Great video, thanks for posting. What is the ratio of Dawn to water that you use?

      Thanks for watching! You know, I never thought of that. In a completely unscientific Luv Subbin statement, it's a few "squirts". I'll measure next time...

    We just finished spring cleaning out AS and waxing with walbernize which is an all day event. When cleaning we open both the front rock guards and front plexiglass window covers it’s amazing how much dirty accumulations in those locations.
    In using the walbernize we transfer to a hand held spray bottle and mist on then use a good microfiber cloth to rub out. Doing this we only one cloth to keep track of and clean.

      Thanks for watching! I open the sun glass doors quite frequently to clean out leaves and other debris. However, when we were troubleshooting for our leak in the previous episode, it marked the first occasion where I opened the stainless steel guards in 18 years. Good cleaning but it was a pain to get them back onto the bolts...

    We use Dawn as well. If you can safely wash an oil-soaked duck with it, I feel safe washing our Airstream. It takes us an hour to wash our Airstream and all day to wax it. Thanks for this video and polishing with the grain instruction. We had heard that, but we like your science!

    I have to admit with my hectic work schedule as a healthcare provider I had the dealer walbernize mine. 26ft would take me forever but she's now lookin' good and ready to go out. I think I'll also do mine once a year as I frequently wash it and keep it looking as good as possible.

    • @LuvSubbin

    Ok I cheated, I had Airstream ceramic coat my FC25FB. My neighbor's trees drop pine cones, needles and such. So far, nothing sticks. That stuff does pile up behind the rolled up awning though.
    BTW, these types of videos are so helpful. Anything that gives you options is always a win.

    I always enjoy your videos. Surprised you didn’t use an ohm meter to check the
    resistance across the Dawn area vs the Gold area between each wash and graph the results. :)

    • @LuvSubbin
      @LuvSubbin  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching! Of course, immediately after reading your comment I did indeed take my ohm meter out for tests. Unfortunately, the clear PPG protective coating on the aluminum is an insulator and didn't show anything. Great thought though!

    I like dawn dish washing, I use it for windows leaves no streaks, and It cut grease. It's a great product! Also for content suggestion point the camera out the front window in your travels and edit it and add commentary. I bet that would give you some great footage. I like driving video's.

    My understanding is the Walbernize is great for conditioning the plastic clearcoat, it does nothing to help fight UV damage. Have you heard anything to the contrary?

    how do you clean the from windows? which product do you use?

    • @LuvSubbin
      @LuvSubbin  4 роки тому

      Thanks for watching! The exterior "sunglass" rock guards will just get washed with soap and water. The glass windows behind the guards will get Windex. Of course, the guards have to be opened first which is a very simply and easy task (two screws each).

  • @rv-boater391

    You state that the Walbernize is for newer campers. We have a 1969. Is Walbernize the right product?

    • @LuvSubbin
      @LuvSubbin  4 роки тому

      Thanks for watching! The Walbernize Super Seal that I mention is good for all Airstreams with a plasticoat or clear coat (mine has the clear coat). If you have bare aluminum that is oxidized, I believe they make a product called "Cleaner, Polish, and Glaze". This should never be used on Airstreams with a coating.

    Had some walbernize when I first got our Airstream. As I recall the directions said not to use on clear coat so I returned it. Did I have the wrong stuff?

    • @LuvSubbin
      @LuvSubbin  4 роки тому +1

      I just checked out Vintage Trailer Supply based on your comment. They said that originally they did not recommend Walbernize but, after talking to engineers and Walbernize, now recommend it for all finishes. I know it's good for my year's coating - 2002 - but if you have an older Airstream I might research further...

    Watch out. I heard those airstreams leak 😂.
    Sealed the roof. What do you mean. Sealed the roof ? Does that mean what I think it means ?

    • @LuvSubbin
      @LuvSubbin  4 роки тому +2

      Thanks for watching! Yes, it means what you think. Every 5 - 10 years or so one should remove the chalking around the roof's fixtures and re-seal. Otherwise the seal will dry out and crack. This is true of all RV's...

    Dawn dish soap? Really? Dude you're going to ruin your AS Dawn will eat away the clear. Whoever told you that is flat wrong. You need at minimum a car soap but even better Walbernize Wash N Wax is the best.

      Thanks for watching. The person that told me to use Dawn was the manager of the Airstream Factory Service Department. I consider the Airstream factory to be the subject matter experts on Airstreams so I took his advice. I may be wrong but after 20 years my Airstream still looks brand new and, as I cover in the video, I don't see the wax removing properties that others do.
