Nice list. I like 42 and 61 but don't love them. Too many good ones too narrow down. As a 90s kid born in the 80s i will always love Sandlot Angels in the Outfield Little Big League Rookie of the Year The Scout Summer Catch always stop to watch Field of Dreams, For Love of the Game, and A League of their Own. Moneyball and Trouble with the Curve and The Rookie Also good for a laugh are Major League, ML2, Mr 3000, Fever Pitch, and Benchwarmers
The Sandlot number one, really? That killed the lists total credibility. Money Ball is a fabulous baseball movie based on a true story and deserves to be in the top three for sure. Number 42 is just not a very good movie but the story of Jackie Robinson is an inspiration to all. “61” has its moments but doesn’t belong on this list. Field of Dreams is in my opinion still the best baseball themed movie of all time. All ages and either gender will feel the magic and the soul of Americas past time. The screen play is masterfully adapted from the book about Shoeless Joe Jackson. Every word fits like a glove, a baseball glove in this case. If this movie doesn’t pull at your heart strings and lure you to the ballpark, nothing will. Field of Dreams, #1
I agree with you Bill, you know baseball and the passion this great game use to be. Even with the unrealistic baseball scenes, there's something about The Natural with the storyline, the great acting (particularly Duvall) , phenomenal soundtrack by Randy Newman and the scene at the end with father and son playing catch that just grabs me. It made me want to enter the movie at some juncture. Field of Dreams, Moneyball, Eight Men Out and possibly The Rookie would round out my five. The true story of Jim Morris, the soundtrack and good acting makes me love that one too. Makes us wannabe's who played competitive softball into our 40s appreciate a late 30s rookie. Have a great 2024!
After all these years, how could you forget A League of their Own?
Really? There's no crying in rating baseball movies! 😄
its a top five!
