He's my rookie to watch this season. I see him as a Power-Forward who will thrive next to athletes in the front-court.
If I'm Cleveland sitting with the #3 Pick, I consider moving back in the draft to get him later, pairing him with Jarrett Allen.
Sabonis is a great comparison. His team's training staff must work on getting his legs stronger while making him more agile. He's a possible future All-Star.

There are the obvious concerns defensively and about whether he can play the 4 or the 5, but Sengun is so talented offensively. He is a post god who has really good playmaking and handling skills for a big. If he can build on that 81% free throw percentage and develop a solid outside shot, he can become a highly skilled and well rounded offensive player. My main concern is that his strength and weight won't be enough for him to properly utilise his post play in the league.

McHale was nicknamed the black-hole by Larry Bird because he never passed. Sengun has great passing skills at 18. But I do agree with you on the foot work, baby hooks. I mean he was insanely efficient at almost 70% TS even if that drops 10 percent day 1 that’s still really good efficiency for a non RRR center with a still relative non outside shot. And i feel with things like his offensive rebounding, dancer skill on the block and ability to get to the line that level of efficiency is somewhat attainable early on. Defense is definitely the larger question.

Anyone who doesn’t see his mobility and athleticism shouldn’t make comments. The guy is very agile and is extremely flexible for a player his size. He also finishes at the rim through contact. Explosive? No, but he’s got some hops and he’s strong enough to take contact and finish. Expect that skill to grow as he gets older. He’s more skilled at passing and dribbling than Sabonis.

I understand both sides of the debate over Sengun. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. Is he gonna be a defensive liability? Yeah probably. Would he be tough to play in the playoffs? Yeah probably. At the same time, is he highly skilled offensively? Yes. Can he provide offensive value to a team? Yes. NBA 5's are becoming more and more specialized. Look around the league. The 5's that get playing time are almost all elite at at least 1 skill. Sengun can be an elite low post scorer. Guys like Kanter and Okafor stick around on teams because they're a bucket. I'm not saying Sengun is those guys. His potential may be higher because of versatility. I'm just saying if they can stick then why can he? People shouldn't be closed minded to archetypes just because they personally believe it's outdated. Evaluation should be an open minded process.

Everybody here is jockeying into position and right now SI mock have him down at @9 from 15. Some still have him at 14 or 16. Nobody knows about these rookies performance if they're going to be a bust or not. Not even your mental attitude!

Jesus how could you even put him on the floor with that defense. I would hate this guy as a coach lmao

still super young and played in probably the second best league in the Euro, he’s got a lot of work to do but you also have to consider on the other end were that type of offensive production makes it even more impressive. There’s plenty of time for his body to get to where it needs to be and many players have said he’s closer to a 7 footer in shoes which could help him once that does happen.

1.3 STL and 1.7 BLK per game but bad defender, okay lol. 1.7 BLK won’t translate but 1.3 STL is an indicator that he will hold up on defense

@@efeercelik5811 blocks and steals aren't a good indicator of defensive performance. If this dude can't stay in front of someone, who cares if he gets a deflection or two? It's gonna be whoever offense on him whenever he's on the floor

@@conehed1138 steals is a good indicator of defensive IQ for up and coming big men. Staying in front of someone is for iso defense. Defensive IQ is for team defense. And Sengun's got that in his bag. He'll be an above average defender, just wait and see.

@@conehed1138 Blocks and steals at a high rate (especially players who combine both) are literally the BEST indicators of defensive potential. That very high steak rate as a big is a good indicator of high defensive IQ. To be only 6’9-6-10 with 7’ wingspan he gets a lot of blocks. You can tell he has excellent timing with his contests, and he also shows verticality. He doesn’t have quick feet, but at 18 and clearly not physically developed, I’d bet on his lateral movement to improve a lot over the next few years. 18 year old prospects get more athletic all the time when they hit an NBA strength training program. He’s not explosive vertically, but he definitely isn’t below average for a young underdeveloped big. He will end up being fine on the defensive end.

How do you feel about a Kevin love with a worse jumper comp? I'm surprised you think he's a late lottery talent. I have Mobley, garuba, Isaiah Jackson, kai Jones, Sandro mamukelashvili, Bassey, and Sharpe are all centers I like more than him and I have them higher on my board 😂.
