I've really been enjoying this series! Love all the great insight from both hosts and guests. I was so excited to hear about Profit First for Crafters. My husband is great friends with Ron Saharyan and Mike Michalowicz and has been following Profit First for years and it has literally saved our business through the pandemic and the writers strike (which were almost back to back). So I highly recommend it for any small business owner! Lots of incredible information in this series. Thank you again for sharing!!

so how do you go about pricing your time

    • @AngieHolden

I would try to come up with a dollar amount per hour that you need to make. I think for everyone that will be a different number varying by location.

That is hard because your lead time will be longer to your customer.

You spoke quite a bit about making shirts, etc, with the colors, mascots, and names of local schools. I have been thinking of doing something like this, but when I looked up what I could do legally, it appeared that these things, particularly the mascots and school names, could be trademarked. Do you have to get permission from the schools to produce these items?

They are DEFINITELY trademarked starting at the college level. However, it often is NOT at the high school level. You can definitely ask for permission or check into the trademarks on the US website.

@AngieHolden That's great info. I was planning to make items with the local high school colors & mascot names, but thought I should give up on anything other than the colors. I suppose if I produce something with the mascot names also and the school doesn't like it, they'll reach out to me to stop producing. I think it would be cheaper for them that way rather than going through a lawyer.

The full “saying” is - Jack of all trades, master of none, though oftentimes better than master of one.
