Was having a hard time accessing the lock liner, my thumb was blistering trying to engage the lock liner. Did you find it easy to access or a little deeper set?
Bro, yes. Watching someone (e.g. my wife) open a package with scissors drives me a bit nuts. I mean I’m standing right here with a very nice knife that I bought and carry on purpose. It would be very nice manners to accept the knife, use it as intended, and shower a few compliments my way as it’s returned.
LOL
Dude…my wife asked to use my knife the other day and I’ve never whipped that XM-18 out so fast in my life. 🤣
@@lukepaulson3428 like laying your jacket over a mud puddle so she doesn't sully her shoes
I think this is what every knife guy wants. Just use my knife and compliment me after 🤣🤣
HAH
mostly just the last part, though 🧐
Love the original praxis for how thin the blade is and being so broad of a blade lets the flat grind really shine. Damn thing glides through cardboard and dense foam like a laser. Only reason I don’t carry it more is that it’s overkill for my daily tasks. I prefer a 3” blade for better precise control. So this little fella is quite welcome. Should have mine next week, looking forward to it.
I measured my favorite cheap knife and stumbled across this brand.. I've only had it for a day but I love it. I've showed a couple people and a relative who's not into knives wants one now. Thanks for making a quality and actually affordable product. I definitely won't be hesitant to buy this brand in the future... The cleaning cloth the zipper pouch.. and the best part.. the knife sticker.. 😆 seriously though, it's all above the quality I was expecting..
Just bought this little guy for my kitchen job! Tired of using my nice knife to open boxes and cut open bags 😬 it’s literally the perfect size and does the job I need it to!
Great review. Down to earth and honest. Thank you for that and great work on the review.
This is a perfect small beater knife for me. Small enough to be legal in most of the cities I travel through, inexpensive enough to use with out worrying about damaging. I have lots of small knives that I use, but I use carefully. I can see this being an R2D2 killer. And she doesn't look half bad either. I bought a couple extra for holiday gifts. Almost stupid low prices. It's like Civivi asked themselves how can they blow up the Penguin hype. Bam, Mini Praxis.
$30 for the mini praxis is a crazy good deal, can't think of a better knife you could get at that price point.
"We have the Capsule Corp. logo- I'm sorry, Civivi logo right here."🤣
Couldnt tell if it was an honoust mistake. Funny either way
Great review - I just ordered the mini Praxis ( already have a regular Praxis and love it )..!!!
I bought a praxis. Great knife, but to big for me, so I bought a mini praxis. Perfect size. It's my new edc, use it all the time.
Love a great 3" knife, length that meets the legal limit for a lot of places that have length limits on carry knives, kind of the "first limit" a lot of places seem to adopt, aside from stuff like banning double-edged blades and switchblades etc.
Metal Complex secretly runs all knife review channels in all the voices
Is this a safe knife to have inside your pocket?
I ended up buying the mini praxis. Amazon had it on sale and if ordered within an hour you would get it same day and I did. only complaint. it's a bit small 😊 it's exactly as you described it however. my sample definitely razor sharp sharper than I expected.
Just ordered mine today should have it tomorrow morning looking forward to it
I fucking love your up close voice lol. All the best parts of orson Welles, Vincent price, and nick shabazz 😂
Dude I'm so glad they made the mini
Just added this to my Christmas list dawg thanks
As an edit, I’m sitting here watching the video again while holding the mini praxis
This thing is great
Ordered mine couple days ago good sir ! I shall take in all the glorious details off the peel ply ! Lol 😂
Loving my little BHQ Scintilla freebie. Effectively a Mini Praxis with thumbstuds, reversible clip, and a bowdrill divot in the scales. :)
I get what you are saying about grabby clips. I thought I lost my PM 2 once, It got caught on my seat belt once and I found it in my truck stuck to the seat belt after tearing my house apart looking for it 🤦♂️
I think both the large and mini need 2.0 versions with an added thumb stud in addition to flipper. Still, nice looking knife.
OK. Used your link and bought one.
Love your content.
As a first knife, which you prefer: penguin vs mini praxis?
I’m a massive Civivi fan but I’d actually recommend the penguin if it’s your *first* knife. My favorite model is the denim micarta variant…it’s just so inoffensive to everyone and I’m not a warncliff fan but they did it right…it’s ultra practical for boxes/packages and QSP does liner locks better than anyone else at the price point. That being said, the praxis is one of my favorite budget knives of all time. The blade geometry is stunning and it’s endlessly usable. I think it’d make for a good second knife, though…UNLESS you’re a freehand sharpener, which you probably aren’t yet since it’s your first. If that were the case, it’s not even a question…the praxis wins.
They just started selling them at my Walmart for $28.
Kind of reminiscent of the odium…like an upsized odium. That bodes really well. I *love* the odium…
This or the QSP Penguin (or something else)? They're the same price where I live (60 AUD).
How difficult would it be the bend the end of the clip toward the handle? Or would it not solve the problem you're talking about and/or look jacked up afterwards?
What are your thoughts on the Mini Praxis vs the Ferrum Forge Odium?
Regular Praxis is $37.50 today
A must buy for sure
Brother MC i love the voices, please give us more.
This knife perfects the Spyderco Delica. I love my Delica, but the only reason I don't like it is that it is a lock back. For an everyday carry I must have passthrough design to clean easily. My Delica collects lint and dust in the blade groove and I can only get it out with a toothpick. I have the para 3 lightweight and it is honestly a great upgrade to the Delica, except that I don't want a 3.5mm blade. I want the Delica 2.5mm blade. The praxis mini is awesome because it has a 2.5mm blade, under 3", and it is compact. My only gripe is that the liner lock is difficult to reach/activate. I really wish they cut out more thumb area to access it
The pm3 lightweight is the best knife I ever owned but this one is solid
Wondering what this will do to those $50 D2 flippers proliferated an year ago.
Got mine in ultem handle fpr 10 bucks more..its a nice little cutter, but with a really thin blade stock
We Love our Elementums. So this mini praxis fits the Bill. ! Same Size.
Had me dead from the voices. Yeah I'll sub
10:05. I would pay if MC did reviews in this voice.
Hey MC, any chance you have a recommendation for good places to get mods done?
Want to do a high polish ano on my Vision R and get the blade done up to be something shiny to make it pop with the cool future aesthetic it already gives off and WOK doesn't really offer much in the way of polish and shiny stuff.
Knife Modders will be the best option for that. Without question the best mirror finish/tumbled mirror polish in the mod community. Lyndie Lou and Richie' are extremely talented and just kind, awesome people in general. Highly recommend their work. They have UA-cam, and IG so contact them through their socials and you can view their work there as well.
Will the finger choil strike a ferro rod?
What’s the difference in mini Praxis and Pintail?
I wonder if you could coat the blade after the heat treat so that it wouldnt effect the HRC? Unless the coating is like melted in? Even then im pretty sure ceramic coating like Cerakote is applied not a higher enough temp to effect HRC.
the coating IS applied after HT. Depends on the coating it may exceed previous tempering temperature and affect HRC, but for a typical coating it should be around the tempering zone anyway.
PS Price was right on the nose. not bad. I think with taxes it was over $30
Its literally the Pintail that I own, with thumbstuds
Cutjack mini is similar spec and design but thicker
I wouldn’t bother with ambi pocket clip on a liner lock. Flipping it backwards in their pocket or drawing from opposite pocket isn’t much more difficult than doing a two-handed close for a lefty. So screw em. There are plenty of nice affordable knives with ambi lock types that would make sense to have an ambi clip.
this knife is clean the blade is not protroding if you closed it.
What would you pick between a Kershaw Leek or a Civivi Brazen? Both have 14C28N steel. I'm looking for a cheap flipper to cut my apple.
@@-Only.Facts- I am aware but the Leek has a hollow grind. The Brazen doesn't.
@@DimiS1978 civivi grinds are superior to kershaw imho and I have multiples of both. Better plunge grind/sharpening choil and typically really thin blade stock not to mention a flat grind is probably better for cutting apples than the hollow grind would be
Just bought one
Mini Praxis/ OD came in yesterday and WOW -- nice for a
Ok. How the heck do i close this thing ??
Is the average person going to be able to tell the difference, in daily use, between a rockwell of 58 vs 60?
Amazing value right there. Side note, what scales are on your Para 3?
Just picked one up on Amazon for 29.99
I think there are a couple early We models floating around in d2
Before they started Civivi We had a whole line-up in d2 and g10
I'm gonna be completely honest, my opinion of what Civivi/We puts as their HRC for their products online, is complete garbage and I wouldn't put emphasis towards each knives hardness via their website. I have had multiple D2 Civivi's and not a single one is soft or even, for that matter, poorly treated D2. In fact I would call it the cream of the crop in the budget realm. I am a free hand sharpener, using everything from veneer diamond stones to aluminum oxide, with a very substantial range of experience. Their D2, has always taken keen, toothy edges. Their 9cr18 is probably the best done in the game; with my large praxis holding an edge extremely well, and usually after sharpening I can remove the burr, intact, with my finger nail. We's S35VN and 20CV, I have also had very similar experience with, and have all (from the variants I experience) above par results as far as edge holding and sharpen-ability for the type of steel. I don't know why but seems that a lot of Chinese companies just put 58-60 or 59-61 just so that they technically won't get called out on credibility. But I would argue most, if not all of their steels, are on the high end of those website number ranges at the very minimum (again, just my experience). Again, I'm not claiming that 60-61 is prime HRC for 20CV/S35VN; as ofcourse those steels prosper in the higher realm, around 62-63. On the other hand, their D2/9CR, which HRC's are best around 60.5-61.5, and they have clearly hit that mark, in my experience, with these steels.
The ladies in my family ALWAYS use scissors to open every package. It drives me CRAZY that they won’t use the knife I’m trying to hand them😂
My Mini Praxis is due to be delivered tomorrow. I've been into expensive bicycles, expensive guns, expensive computers, expensive heart rate monitors, expensive phones, etc.... and now, I'm not in the same income bracket. And while I understood the benefit of spending more money for many different things in the past, I have to say that with the quality of knives in the $25 - $40 range, I just do not understand spending hundreds on a pocket knife. AND... with that said, I'm sure many people don't understand buying a $30 knife. But the difference just seems so small and nearly insignificant in many, many cases.
First! and got my mini praxis the other day and love it
No Left Love Here. Can't even flip that pocket clip, really Civivi?
When I received my almost 2 month long pre-order Mini Praxis my only gripe was the linerlock. I was like they missed it on this one. I love the liner lock on my OG Praxis’s with the gold liners. But they fell short on the minis linerlock😢!!!
I just received it but my thumb is blistering trying to access the liner lock to close the knife - is that what you mean about the missing it in the liner lock?
UPDATE: received a replacement and it’s much better! Not perfect but noticeably better. Very happy.
Yes the linerlock on the mini Praxis is like on both of my We Banter the linerlock is so hard to access and it destroys your thumb!
It’s like the Little Fiend, but revised to sell better
"capsule corp logo" lol
Nice
Liner lock access sucks on mine
Mine too. Borderline unusable :(
@@stylistrichardjenkinssame
I don't know why people like thumb studs so much. I call them pocket grabbers... because that's what they do. They catch the fabric of a pocket, making them difficult to remove from your pocket without using two hands. I look, specifically, for pocket folders WITHOUT thumb studs. I hate them!
Amazing knife for $30
Chinese junk steel in a nice exterior, a polished turd that won’t hold an edge. Save up your money and buy good steel, unless you have a knife addiction and don’t actually plan to use it.
