Such a beautiful couple! I enjoyed watching this interview :) I love that your husband talked about the low maintenance aspect of having locs. LOL at the "you talk a lot about locs". I can relate, Tanielle. There's so much to talk about locs!
Too cute! I’m new so first time seeing your hubby and you together. I have had regular locs ( not micro but not big either) and had them for 16 yrs. Back then there were no extensions that I knew of. I cut my locs because I developed alopecia- the tension and also the one that thins out the crown to balding in places. So now, 7.5 years later I’m trying to loc again with much lower density hair than before. The confidence piece your husband mentioned is true. It’s your own hair/crown and it’s beautiful and it’s representing you to a degree. I would like to wear my own hair - my own natural hair again. Thanks for this video, even though I’m waaaaay late! FYI my hubby is similar in that he just wants what I want for my hair and that ultimately I’m happy and content about my hair.
I understand your husband's point about extensions. As someone who's locked a few times, I feel originally, lots of ppl felt that way. But locs have become more mainstream, and with that -- extensions were born. You two are cute together.
Love your hair and your story! I plan to do loc extensions primarily because I’m in a corporate space. I don’t know if it’s discussed enough, but I think more people would be inclined to start their own if it was more widely accepted in corporate settings. I don’t think there’s an “ugly stage”, but others wouldn’t feel it’s “presentable”. Unfortunately crown laws aren’t everywhere or always followed, and we are still bound by certain “standards”, so extensions offer a way to still begin the journey and still meet the corporate aesthetic requirements🤷🏽♀️
