RIP Chris 11-11-2022 (guitarist). Wish a well journey to your twin-brother Gerard -on keys- (died 2019) who will wait for you in Heaven. Bassplayer and husband of singer Jerney Kaagman Bert Ruiter died also this year (24-03-2022). He participate the band in 1978.
Beautiful example of this genre of music. Progressive rock in style! In the 70 's i watch them in a concert in Istanbul. I never get bored of listening to this song. Guys this is not the crap that we listen to nowadays......
Where we HAVE to listen too because the music industry jams it down our throats, I guess that's basically what you mean? 😂 Gosh I miss these days, where musicians were making real music instead of products. Spending days in the rehearsal rooms just because they were friends and really wanted to hang out together instead of production"bands" stuck to a record deal which forced them into making two albums a year, by way of saying. The artistic vibes of independent spirits when you see them and when they perform on stage with their own ways of wearing their clothes whether the audience liked it or not. I really REALLY miss that . . . Sure there are some bands out there that come close, but there's a lot of snobs and "people who are dressed to impress, take your money and leave people" out there. I've even seen a "death metal band" that looked like coming straight from a student association 😂 . . . I mean, the really quirky one, infested with insecure nerds and geeks with fanny packs, big cell phones in their pockets and more inconsistent stuff. Funny, now I explain it it sounds actually cool, but that is NOT what I meant 😂 Anyway . . . I digress. The band is something people will forget eventually. But we will never forget the atmosphere we witnessed ourselves and which they gave to us.
The 70's when I was a teenager was the best decade to grow up in with virtually unlimited freedom and exceptional good music. And all the boys in my class were in love with Jerney.
I used to hear this on Radio Caroline back in the day, heard it last Sunday on Radio Caroline on 648 kHz,first time in years. Hauntingly beautiful!❤️🇬🇧🙏☮️
Kom hier tegenwoordig maar eens om. Geweldige tijd, de 70 ies. Earth& Fire, Shocking Blue , Brainbox, Golden Earring, Sandy Cost, The Machine, Ekseption etc...daarna Focus. Top of the Pops...
Such a beautiful song ! Now I am 72 years old and visited your concerts many times when a was young ! Love your music 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶thank you for all for that ! 🎶👏👏👏👏🙏🙏🙏
One of the best bands of the Netherlands..🙈 no ! Ever heard of Shocking blue, t set, teach inn, or golden Earring? Even bzn had more hits 😂😂 this was a great band with a beautiful front lady who could not sing😂
Wow, this woman was truly beautiful. Such an unusual and unique voice too. I bought the early albums back in the day. Great use of the mighty mellotron on those first three or four prog classics. Love this song and performance. I was so sad to hear that Jerney has been suffering from Parkinson's disease for the past ten years.
Ze waren zo goed!!! OP het podium speelden ze net zo goed als je het op de platen hoorde! Tegenwoordig is dat met vele groepen niet het geval en velen gebruiken hulpmiddelen om dat te maskeren. Ik heb Earth and Fire tweemaal gezien.
This band! How did they not make it??? They have a really cool sound and flawless discography! I think if they had another band Name (Because people might have mistaken them for Earth Wind and Fire) I think they would have made it big! This is the greatest musical discovery I have ever done!
I wish to address the music industry, both past and present, about the importance of recognizing and promoting genuine, independent talent. Earth & Fire, a Dutch rock and pop band, is a prime example of such talent that could have achieved global fame. Their song "Storm and Thunder" was a source of inspiration for King Crimson's "Starless and Bible Black", which gained more global recognition, leading many to believe it was an original piece. While it was indeed an original work, it was undeniably influenced by Earth and Fire's song, a fact that has not been sufficiently discussed or acknowledged. Earth & Fire was a band that had the potential for worldwide recognition. Their first eight singles were almost uninterrupted top-5 hits in the Netherlands from 1970 to 1974. They also charted in continental Europe, particularly in Belgium and Germany. However, they never gained significant popularity in the United Kingdom or the United States. Their biggest hit was "Weekend" (1979), a number one disco track in the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Portugal, and Switzerland. This is a testament to their potential for international success. It's regrettable that this didn't happen, and the blame lies squarely on the record labels and the entertainment industry. History has shown that they were wrong not to push this wonderful band into the limelight, as they did with other, often more generic, artists. When I introduce people to Earth & Fire's music, they are immediately captivated, and these are people from outside the Netherlands. So, to those in the industry who overlooked this band, I have a Dutch saying for you: "scratch yourselves behind the ears". Once you understand the meaning of this phrase, you might regret not giving Earth & Fire the chance they deserved.
Earth & Fire-любовь с первого взгляда. Невероятное сочетание меланхоличной манеры исполнения с глубокой силой и все это на фоне психоделической основы, но не в ущерб мелодичности.
what an underated band! great vocals bry jerney...and the two brothers in gitaur and organ..r.i.p.for the members that have moved on!! love all of them!❤
Happy memories of hearing this wonderful Dutch band on the medium wave from Radio’s Caroline, Veronica, Seagull, Mi Amigo and of course my favourite, Radio Northsea International
Machtige song bevat alle elementen voor een perfecte Doom Metal / Black Metal / Gothic Metal cover van te maken. En, ze hebben nog van die tracks die perfect zouden passen met een Metal jasje. Top band !!!
Of the Many Dutch Bands this is my Favorite and watched them on You tube from about 1969 up to 1989 and really enjoyed their videos and did a alot of looking at where they came from before Forming Earth & Fire and found alot of Information which i found Fascinating and still check on some of the members and if still alive Etc. They may not have made it in the uk as a whole but they did make it at Lancaster University. When I was there from 74-77 we had a DJ on the campus radio station who was a fanatic on the Dutch music scene and regularly played this record. Great record as well.
This song is dreadfully catchy.Jerney is beautiful.Long way from their earlier stuff.Memories was a great song.Bert on bass looks like he is enjoying himself(and his missus😁

"over time evolved into a pop group" - too bad. This early style is good. But, I do like the "Earth and Fire" of 1979. Where was I? Just discovered them today..Born in 1966.
It was "midgets" originally, then they realised they had made a mistake ("midgets" in English means short, dwarf people) and changed it going forward ("midges" are flies you get above a lake, which it what they meant).
One of the best Dutch bands. They have made great music. Still playing them.

This is so much of its time - perfectly encapsulates 1972.
