Yea, so the Mac Studio and the studio display are really great! But you know what would be even better? The Studio display having all the Mac Studio stuff inside of it already.
Get the iMac
Given they've got an ipad guts inside the display its so bloody annoying they couldn't just go that bit extra and make it even mac mini-esque. I'd buy that. I've no need for the power of a Mac Studio but do want a good 27" or larger display with good audio and a cam.
Then allow it to be used as an external display for power users with their Studios and job done. (Except that sales of the studio and possibly the mini would fall off a cliff)

Yeah but that’s mostly wasteful for professionals. You’d have to purchase an entirely new display every time you wanna upgrade the hardware. To have it separate is very anti Apple & modular which is, what a lot of people prefer.

You'll have to wait because the USB-C protocol regarding audio. As far as I know, the Max does not work directly wired.

While i dont prefer it, i can see there never being another imac pro simply because its really not _needed_ for power consumers. Its definitely a nice to have and options are good. But id bet that apple feels ppl who want an imac pro can just as easily get a mac studio or mac pro and get a (eventual) new pro display xdr.
The people who want imacs want a clean set and forget approach. No fussing or extra things, it just works. And that tendency tends to fall in line with simpler needs (ie entry level products/performance).
Now personally i would love a 24in imac with m3 *pro* chip simply because i need multiple displays. But no work flows or tasks that requires a max chip or ultra config, just more display outs. If i could get that on a base m3 id even take that. But sadly multiple displays is a “pro” feature i guess 😅
If the mac mini can get a pro chip variant, why cant the imac 🥺😂

I hate the 13 inch MBP. However, I kinda actually wanted one IF THEY REDESIGNED IT as a more portable pro machine, because I would've preferred it over the Air. You know, could have been interesting.......

I like the 13 inch Pro for the simple fact it has a fan. Active cooling is just way superior to passive for my personal needs. I need sustained performance and cant be slowed down by termal throttling after a while, m1 (8 + 8 Cores) is what I'm currently using in mine and its more than enough for >95% of my tasks, therefore I wont spend more to get a 14 inch Pro.

Mac studio is no replacement for a bigger iMac.. the combo of box and display is both much more expensive and less elegant an no more upgradable.... Swing and a miss Apple (I've had almost every model since introduction in the 90's)

I can't justify getting the Mac Studio, I just want an iMac with more RAM and a bigger display, personally I think the 32" is not gonna happen and the big iMac won't be breaking the 30" barrier, why would most people get the Mac Studio and big monitor if they can get that in a big iMac. 27-29" is my bet. I'm still hoping we'll get a black 24" iMac Pro just to give customers who are fine with the 24" size but want more power and ram options.
If you get a Mac Studio, and Studio Display, every few years you can upgrade one without upgrading the other. But let’s say they did have a new iMac Pro, when it comes time to upgrade you gotta replace everything all at once: display, webcam, Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, computer. I used to be a 27” iMac guy my self, than I got a 48” LG CX and M1 Mac Mini. Eventually I got rid of the CX and got a Pro Display XDR then a year later I got rid of the Mini and got a 16” M1 Pro MacBook Pro, next I’m gonna get an M3 Mac Mini. My display isn’t tethered to my computer and vice versa. Plus I’m not forced to buy a FaceTime camera that is inferior to my Sony A7S III. I’m not forced to buy a microphone that is inferior to my Apogee Hypemic. I’m not forced to use speakers that are inferior to my Kanto TUK/Sub 8 set up.
If you can’t justify the Mac Studio, then get the M3 Mac Mini with the LG 27” Ultrafine 5K Display, and add the maximum amount of RAM. Will cost you all of $1,800 USD.
Why would I get the Studio with a Big Display? Because I don’t have to spend $3,500 every time I want to upgrade the hardware. Right now? I can upgrade the Studio for $2,000, and keep my display.
If something goes wrong with my Studio, I can carry the little brick to an Apple Genius Bar vs lugging a 27” display.
Everything about the studio as a form factor is better than the 27” iMac.

I think it is possible for an iMac with an M3 pro chip. They have redesigned the innards of the iMac, saying it was about the arm redesign, there is possibility they have done it for other reasons too. Hopefully it comes out with at least an M3 Pro chip too.
