VTOL VR is fantastic, It's made by 1 very clever guy, I'd say it's like 95% of DCS in terms of complication. I love it. And it's a great gateway into DCS, if you can fly well in VTOL, you are gonna have no issues in DCS since most of the systems are similar, and flight characteristics are similar
I love VTOL VR by all means, and I somewhat agree that it can get you into flying sims quite painlessly with providing a good base knowledge, buuuut "I'd say it's like 95% of DCS in terms of complication" - WHAT? I hope you meant the other way around of those percentages, like 5% of complication. Even Low fidelity planes are more complicated than most demanding stuff in vtol. But full fidelity... soo, you say that starting procedure with all the steps, error checks, radio configuration, laser pointer coding, hydraulics, checking oxygen flow, fuel mixtures, radio modes, missile arming, even disconnecting the front wheel steering from the rudders is like the 5% difference between those two games? And I believe that's a tip of an iceberg.
50 is still too much. I'd say 25%. When you're able to open up the game and understand 50% of the mechanics on your own and the rest with just a few youtube videos, can't say it's nearly as hard as dcs @@Spacebaryonyx
Great video DTM! It's awesome seeing you check out my favorite VR game. I know you usually run solo scenarios for your vids but it would be really cool to see you take on a larger milsim operation in VTOL VR.
The -I addition to weapons just means it’s carried internally, I think most weapons actually have the correct designation, however not the AIM-9x(AIM-9+ in game)
This has probably been the best VTOL VR video i have ever seen, I really hope you plan on making more of these type of VR videos. definitely subscribing
Honestly the graphics for VTOLVR are great considering it's a VR game. The best part - when you're in the heat of the moment your brain doesn't care what it's seeing, it all looks realistic to it
It’s like how I imagine any creature is already used to its own limitations and eyesight, you forget about the lack of FOV, low res graphics and not so realistic sound because it’s just the world you operate in
The RADAR/TSD on the f45 is really useful because you can also use it to control the TGP. You can mark targets on the TSD and just press a button to lock your TGP onto it. Great for quickly switching to a new target area or locking something you can't see easily. Also great for quickly going between AA and AG as you don't have to switch the SOI if you want to use a radar missile then attack something with the ballista
People get pissed off at this game for not having any HOTAS support. Personally I think it’s better than DCS in terms of immersion bc of it. It’s also fun to give the middle finger to physics with the t55, you can turn off your flight assists and. Pull a metric ton of AOA. At around 310 knots you can do a perfect cobra, at lower fuel states(2000l or less) I have managed to do kulbits. Feel free to join CAW8 they have 4 ops every weekend if you want to do milsim stuff.
Fun thing to know about VTOL is that, unlike DCS, VTOL simulates RCS at different angles (as opposed to the equal RCS at all angles) so angling your plane will be much more important.
Man I feel your pain, I get motion sick very easily as well. And you’re right about having to get your sea legs, but once you do it the only way to fly for me. Keep up the good work peace ✌️
@@DTMCRAZYGAMINGIk Im very late, I don’t know if you figured it out or not but I just wanted to tell you the second seat is for a gunner. So it’s optional for a second player
To save time, you only need the APU to be 50% powered up, and you can turn on the engine at that point, and even 2 engines at the same time (with the AH94 being the exception), without fail. Pros (as well as I) can get away with 40%
So on you little screens in the cockpit is an option called “S-CAM” it give all different angles as well as recording smooth. So views don’t see you shock your head too much
Honestly i hope the graphics never improve. Like you said its easy on the eyes, also it allows us to run these huge maps and use low res headsets like the quest two without any detriment to performance or experience.

Good on covering these smaller sims. DCS singleplayer is and has been in a bad spot for years thanks to borderline-nonfunctional AI, and these smaller devs deserve more recognition for their work. Especially when established studios will purposefully or otherwise fumble design philosophy that benefits the player in order to pad their bottom line. Time and money are better spent building up the competition if the incumbents are unwilling to test their time-trial ghost.
Motion, sickness, gonna happen in many different ways. For me it’s when I move my head back-and-forth too much or too fast. The close, Quarter dogfights is when the motion sickness really kicks in
It does feel weird at first to not have the feeling of a HOTAS but you get use to it. It’s a lot easier to reach out and press buttons on you displays, where DCS you have to use your mouse if you don’t have it hot keyed
at 19:56 you assume that the dev of vtol vr couldn't get the rights to use the names of weapons so 'I' was added. this is false; the reason for the 'I' is it means internal, as the f-45A has internal bays. It's not that it can't run them, it's just that it'd up the performance requirements of the game by a decent margin, which locks people out of being able to play the game, and since it alters gameplay it's not like you can just turn them off. Not everyone has a 2070+ to run the game on@@mikec1554
