Strangely, a very few people have got this art of explaining something in such a simple manner that all people, of a varying range of learning needs, understand it. Congratulations Emily, you are one of them. Thank you so much for all the hard work you have put in.
In teaching “Expressing wishes” many a one tries simplicity, but no one has been as superbly successful as you are. In other words, your video makes everyone understand at the first instance itself and makes them learn to express wishes in all situations with ease and lucidity - such was the impression I got when I watched your video for the first time. Madam, no praise could be too high to praise you; In fact, I have strongly recommended that my students watch not only this particular video but your entire playlist. Having enjoyed and benefited a lot from your gift, with all my humility, I want to bring in a small observation:
Instead of: (SUBJECT) + WISH (ES) + (2ND SUBJECT) + HAD + PAST TENSE It should be: (SUBJECT) + WISH (ES) + (2ND SUBJECT) + HAD + PAST PARTICIPLE
@@soiliamanova1257 i haven't seen people using wish in that way so I think is incorrect, the correct form would be "i wish I had seen this before" exactly the same as paul Rodriguez's sentence
Thanks alot . I have a couple of question. I wish you could help with them If only the parcel........today.we wouldn't have to complain . ( came or had come) 2- Salina regrets that she was ill yesterday and had to stay at home , she wishes she................with us (could be -could have been - could have) thanks in advance
Hi emily! Thanks for teaching me these. I have a test 3 days later. Thanks alot! Congraculations you are a good youruber. Again, thanks a million! Your fan: cookie
Thanks a lot about your great lesson my amazing teacher i wish you could keep teaching us such knowledge about English coz our teachers would speak yet they'd issues understanding such grammar.
The way you teach is commendable 👍 Dear Teacher i've totally understood this concept. Earlier It used to be a mumbo jumbo for me, but no longer since I have seen this lovely video. Thanx a ton. I request you to let me know if I wrote anything incorrect.
Hi, first of all outstanding video and great explanation. Just one question, for any continuos tense (as seen in the last example -were coming-) is it required to always use "were"?
It would be very helpful if you make some vedios on modal verbs ,and explain things in them as lucidly and effectively as you have done in this vedio , explaining various uses of 'wish".

You just express the past wish
Ya should use the past simple

but I think for past wishes we have to used : had + past participle.
am I right ?
Tareq Bh I thought the same. Now I think I am not very sure
Tareq Bh exactly, past participle - unfortunately the video has some misleading info, but all in all, it works fine
yes the teacher made a mistake! it is with past participle!!! give, gave and given. Given es the past participle of give, it is obvious!!
totally right, i'm afraid that was a slip
