Would definitely love to see another vlog of you going to secondhand stores or just any unique store you may find there. Pop-up stores, vintage stores, aesthetic looking music shops, or maybe even weird ones idk. Hoping to see you walk around a lot and discover many things before this series end.
I believe the reason your Hard Off video did well is because you actually showed the inside of the store. Your videos are an excellent resource for anyone planning a trip to Japan. By showcasing stores like Hard Off and Book Off, you help viewers decide whether they want to visit these places during their own vacations. Your videos are great for this purpose, providing a relaxed and genuine perspective on multiple locations. You simply share your honest thoughts about each place, which many people appreciate. Thanks to your videos, I found 10-15 things to add to my Tokyo holiday itinerary for next year.
Love your response to the deer. Whether in Nara or elsewhere, deer are wild. No matter how many signs are put up to tell people not to feed them, they are ignored by almost everyone. (So much for Japanese people's reputation for rigidly obeying the rules.) They also stink and shit everywhere. On a rainy day there's slimy shit everywhere. My friend had a huge bruise for a month after a deer took out her kneecap because she didn't feed the beast fast enough. Top tier coffee in Kyoto--definitely. You might like to check out the Nagoya JR Train museum. Awesome place. I won the lotto to drive the Shinkansen simulator when I visited. Best prize ever! As a UA-camr you might be able to bypass the lotto and arrange that with them. Love your vlogs.
PLEASE do more second-hand(discount) stores videos! And if it's possible, personally I would love it if you would visit a shop which focuses on cameras, lenses etc. Hope you are having a good time!
I hope u get sleep and rest Mudan! It's crazy how we are halfway done with the vlog. Love ur vlogs and start my day with them. Thank you Mudan and best wishes
They also check me from time to time at airports, I also look at the screen and in the cases they check it's normaly my shoulder or back where my backpack rests while I'm waiting. Now I just carry it in my hand and they don't need the additional check. Instead if Harajuku you could also try Shimokitazawa, it's a bit calmer and has more variety, also lots of cafes
Would be really cool to see you go to Nakano Broadway. Could do like a "1h in Nakano Broadway" kind of thing. Second floor is the one with tons of anime figures and stuff, and it's not a huge mall. One of my favourite places in Tokyo when I visited Tokyo last month.
Don’t go to Takashita street in Harajuku, just go around and you’ll see a lot cute hipster cafes and in general it’s pretty there as soon as you leave that popular location.
btw about the "residential" area, when I was in Tokyo a few weeks back I did get that kind of vibe from the Yanaka Walk area. It's super chill, some artsy galleries and studios, and a huge cemetery with the tomb of the last shogun
if you are akihabara i always tell people to hit up moses kebab. the owner is super cool and funny and he is constantly blasting tupac. its insane to encounter it in japan. also the food is amazing and like 600 yen. try and interview him his story is great of how he took over the building in aki too.
19:17, I just like the store name "Hard Off". It's super fun to say. I wish I could bring it up casually in conversation like, "Check out my Hard Off haul" or "Going to Hard Off this weekend". Also, I want a store clerk shirt for "Liquor Off" so that I don't even have to say a word.
20:00 Damnnn I would love for you to go to an anime store. But actually I just loved that video because it was so interesting and so much weird stuff in there.
About the Hard Off video: Many consoles are not region-locked, like PS3/4/5, PSP, PS Vita, Xbox One/S, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and all of the Game Boys. The issue is more language-related. Many games have Japanese language options only. You can use Google to narrow it down a bit, but the bigger issue is the plug and the power supply of the old consoles. Many have 110V requirements (just like for some home appliances!), so you have to be sure that what you buy can actually work at home. I know a lot of great places outside of Tokyo where you can just get lost for hours in second-hand stores. Surugaya in my opinion is the best you can check. About prices: Akihabara is the worst but you can still find good deals! Osaka is better, but sometimes, Kyoto and Nagoya can also be really good. Rural areas have the best selections and prices because tourists are usually not going there. Mudan: there is a Surugaya in Yokohama that you should check the next time, it is next to the station :) .
I can explain why the heat felt better in LA! It's the humidity! Japan is very humid compared to the west half of the United States, and humidity makes things feel warmer.
Here is a list of mind blowing ramen. Fuunji - Tsukemen (dipping noodle), San Tora - Miso, Konjiki-Hototogisu - Tsukemen (though it says temporarily closed), Tsukemen Gonokami - Shrimp Tomato Pesto Tsukemen. Give at least one of them a try and revisit whether you think ramen in japan is mind blowing.
Regarding the Hard Off, a lot of people like the idea of a retro game hunt. Some UA-camrs are only doing such content. It would help you a lot if you would go for a retro game based goal like collecting every Super Femicom Games or only all RPGs. Sth. like this would boost your channel
I dont wanna talk shit too much because Im still watching and enjoying every single daily vids BUT Ive found that this month felt way less "original/scuffed/random" than the others
as a californian, i have the exact opposite reaction when i go to japan. I see meals for like 500 yen that would cost $20USD after tax and tip. The trade-off is that needing healthcare in the US might bankrupt you so it's a catch 22.
I like the Tom Bihn aeronaut 45 but there’s also a smaller one. They’re optimized for airplane carry on limits more so than being good backpacks though.
36:35 Close enough~! ^.^ Always love the monthly recaps. Can't believe five months has already flown by. Thanks for providing us with so many memories (mostly not cringe), fella~! What sorts of wacky things will Mudan get up to tomorrow?
33:41 Yeah pretty much, at least in the cities in the US. People always say to move to a more rural place/cheaper cost of living place, but there's also barely any jobs in those places, and at least personally I really like being able to live in a place where I can walk to get everything I need.
I always wonder if the HardOffs in the inaka have cheaper stuff. I went to an antiques mall in on the coast of Oregon (inaka for us) and there was lots of cheap and interesting stuff there. My guess is after people pass away you need to get rid of their stuff and it's probably harder to get rid of it in the middle of nowhere.
I would recommend BONGEN COFFEE in Ginza tokyo. Give it a try. They have coffee that is 20 USD, but man I enjoyed every second of it. Just simply delicious. Only once for me thought would not get it twice. But I would go back to get their cheaper coffee options.
hard off video did well cuz retro gaming and portable gaming nowdays is on some sort of hype. And hard off that's one of the most well known places (same as super potato) where you can get some interesting oldschool stuff
This will make some people happy you said the Okonomiyaki in Hiroshima made such a good impression on you. Supposedly the best in Tokyo is: Momijiya But I've never been, looking online their are at least 5 places in Tokyo that make/sell it.
My partner and I want to visit Japan sometimes, but they have back problems among other things Maybe a video centered around visiting japan with accessibility in mind could be done
I relate to speaking a language that nobody can understand and then trying not to say fuck or things like that when you are around people who know the language
Day 35 of asking Mudan each day this month to make an onsen video. Lets go! I am finally FREEEEEEEEEEEE Also I now know you don't do a full month Mudan you do it willy nilly! Sad no onsen video but whatever.
Can't believe this series will be over at some point
no, its not. I refuse to accept this
dont make me cry
@@tristan7715I stopped watching the boys lol Mudan is my goat right now
it will be a sad day
@@tristan7715 I left the boys channel now I am Mudan fan

Yay, I was waiting to know how well the vtuber video did, I'm happy to hear that it did well :) thank you for your hard work Mudan!
This was my favourite monthly Japan review yet
happy to see you're still enjoying yourself, big love from Canada
@8:08 that episode was great. You and Chris exploring the stuidoo together was very chill, very sugoi 10/10.
The Milka callout was in comparison to Hershey's, not all chocolate.
PLEASE do more second-hand(discount) stores videos! And if it's possible, personally I would love it if you would visit a shop which focuses on cameras, lenses etc.

I love 2nd hand stores, especially surugaya, since they always have free shipping.
Cannot believe it's almost been half a year already since Mudan went to Japan. Time flies by so fast 😳
It's not been almost a year, it'h been more than a year 😳 210 days out of 365 as he says in the discription
@@stelioshznah, it's 210 days remaining. The number in the description is a countdown 👍

It was nice to briefly meet you waiting in line at US immigration. You definitely looked tired then for sure. lol. Keep at it.
This is the earliest I’ve ever been to a video 😁
Already 5 months? Crazy. Time really flies.

Yessss, more Hard-off/Book-off/Hobby-off and other recycle stores please! I love seeing all the game consoles and cool stuff
Never thought I’d be a featured comment in a video! Cheers Mudan for the rest of your stay 🍻
Wow damn, I got featured.
Can you be on the crane game with Connor would love to see what you find and compete with the monkey man.

Seriously. You can film a whole low-budget series with just Chris' set.

Hype for the @noriyaro collab
Thank you for all the effort!
Maybe unusual stores both thrift and antiques. Cosplay store would be cool. Maybe shop some cosplay for connor.
Whenever i comeback to Lithuania i get like a kilo of Kārums, Nykštukas and Magija its like mini cheesecakes
video idea: i spent the entire day underground
some of those underground shopping malls are huge
Super convenient when it’s raining or super cold and windy! 😂 love them

Has Mudan ever used the insta 360 GO? It is a super small discreet camera.
5k done.. Now just todays +6k and I'm all done up-to-date.
video idea! try learning to play japanese riichi mahjong and go to Bellbird Shinbashi
For LA and San Francisco yes
What an incredible powerhouse of a man!
I got back from japan, but i felt like I missed out alot of stuff at Nakano Broadway. Wonder what you can find there
I watch these daily, dunno what I'll do when it's over lol
What happened to the sunshine city vid?
Try indian filter coffee.... i think it fits your coffee preference
Live in kyoto for 6 years. Yeah we learn not talk and share the other good spot and thing to do there to avoid being swarm by tourist.

Animal Crossing music

Close by places, short lines, places to sit and rest, easy transport, etc...
get this man too a 100k subs
How about a "IRL anime locations" video?
did you mentally recover from LA? also I like the idea of getting a hair cut from natsuki

Who else noticed the stardew valley music in the background?
If seeing japan through someone else feels fresh and it all feel kinda normal to you, does that mean you're just kinda feeling at home right now?
