    This was one of my favorite series in middle school and when I found out that there was a book coming out in Puck's pov (The Iron Raven) I decided to reread everything to get cozy with it again before reading it. I still adore this series a lot. I didn't struggle getting into the books either time but I did find Meghan kinda bratty and useless in the first book before she went to the Nevernever and when she was at the winter court in the 2nd book. The Iron Queen is definitely the best one in the original series.

    Out of all the iron fey books I love iron queen and iron knight the most, and I suspect iron raven will take its place among my favourites once I read it
    As for Summer's Crossing, I think the point was to show who Puck is as a person. He was given the choice of either helping his sworn enemy get back on track to figuring out a way to be with the girl they're both in love with, or selling him out so Puck can be with Meghan. Puck knew that Meghan was happier with Ash, not to mention Puck still considered Ash his best friend, so he decided to help him. That's just how I saw it, anyways

    I remember reading this in high school and really loving it. Decided to reread the series again after finishing all of ACOTAR. So far, I'm really enjoying it still.

    It's a simple series compared to a lot of other YA stories in my opinion but somehow I've been obsessed with it for a long time and still am (definitely opened the doors to my addiction to fae in general too). It's great finally seeing a review on it cause I never really see anyone talking/gushing about it ಥ‿ಥ

    I actually accidentally started with Winter's Passage...I read the series online and when I found out it was a novella after the 1st book...I was like...whoops. But I continued and when I read the series for a 2nd time, I started with The Iron King...I absolutely LOVE this series and I'll recommend it to any reader💙💕

    I'm currently rereading this series. It has a special place in my heart, but I'm not sure it holds up. But I still love book 1 and 4.

      I’m so scared of rereading some of my favourites because I’m scared that I won’t love them as much as I did 😢

    it's pronounced Lanawn She and is a type of faerie in Irish Mythology. Quite a few of the characters and places are borrowed from Irish Folklore (as they often are in these modern fairy stories).

    i kind of disagree just in that this book is a far more professional series than sjms or some of the other “fae” series out now. sjms read like fanfiction and just tell you everything rather than showing. this is more stylized and imo only takes longer to “pick up” because it’s written with a natural pace and setting rather than fanfic super speed. lol this has less to do with your review and more with my frustration people say iron fey is a bad series but tog/acotar are god. anyway great vid and glad you ended up liking it!!

    i read iron king after the cruel prince series and im not sure if i should continue. cruel prince was my absolute fav and got me into the fae world and while im sure the iron fey books get better the farther you get into them im still on the fence about getting the rest of the books. thinking to try ACOT first and then see which series i want to invest more of

      Sammeeee i read the cruel prince ans was in LOVE!! and just bcoz of that series I wanted to read more faerie world and picked up ACOTOR and only few pages in and I got very.... Irritated? So I dropped it... And the I started reading the iron king and reminded myself to not compare any and every book with the cruel prince now and tried reading it.... But I felt the iron king was a lil childish... I mean... I read the whole book and then ik it was interesting but it felt like I'd have liked it when I was 15-19 but not now..... It was interesting but childish.... Idk how to explain this.... So now m confused if I should continue the series or read darkfever instead

    Is the Iorn King clean? Does it have any inappropriate content?

    • @catbandbooks

      Ooh I actually don’t remember if it’s completely clean, sorry! I know there are kissing scenes, but I can’t remember if it gets any more graphic than that 😅

    What would you say the age range is? I’m use to Sara j Maas books so I wonder if this may feel a bit young for me. Great vid btw!

    • @catbandbooks
      @catbandbooks  3 роки тому

      Thank you so much! 😊 And I’d say it’s definitely for a younger audience than SJM - there’s not as much action or smut in this one, and overall the writing style feels like it’s targeted at a lower age range.

      lowkey sjm ripped off a lot of plot points and i think her faeries are significantly less complex than julies. julies world is dynamic and interesting, sjms falls flat and put me in a reading slump
