Magilla Gorilla, Johnny Quest and I believe the 1st season of Peter Potomus all included the "dancing sticks" and the more lively theme which I preferred. But I wasn't the one making the decisions so....
This was actually from the episode “Curtain Call at Bedrock”, which first aired on Friday February 18, 1966. The animators for this episode matched that one. It ranked 59th out of 96 shows airing that week, with an 18.8 rating/32.5 share (the highest rated episode of the final season). It ranked second in its time slot behind CBS’s “The Wild Wild West” (16th, 24.9 rating/42.8 share), but ahead of the Geneva Conference on NBC (was not rated).
Almost 50 year old recording of The Flintstones’ final season premiere (as of 2021) from FOX station (was independent) WTTG in DC. Sound was really choppy, tape and color quality held up really well. Well kept for a near half-century-old recording.
That Might Be The Rarest Recording Of The Flintstones Ever...And I Never Expected The Screen Gems Logo! I Thought It Only Appeared In Original Airings Of HB Shows From 1957-1966! That's So Crazy Bruh!
I never thought I would see these credits! Most of the later Flintstones episodes (especially on the Cartoon Network & Boomerang reruns in the 1990's and 2000's) have used the more common closing credits with a reprise of "Meet the Flintstones" and Fred yelling for Wilma so she can open the front door to let him in their house. Also, Columbia apparently had the rerun rights until Hanna Barbera themselves took over in the 1980's via TV syndicator Worldvision Enterprises (both HB and WV were owned by Taft Corporation).
The Flintstones is currently distributed by Warner Bros. Television Distribution. Screen Gems is now a independent film studios owned by Sony Pictures.
Hanna-Barbera and Turner Entertainment logo used in 90s prints, while Warner Bros. Television Distribution logo (2003) used in current restored prints of The Flintstones' final season, plasters the Screen Gems' original logo.
I remember watching The Flintstones and seeing the credits using MCMLXII, MCMLXIII, MCMLXIV, MCMLXV and MCLXVI and showing the different voice actors used in each episode. I've never seen the Screen Gems logo before now since in syndication TBS (pre-1986) cuts off when Fred says "Wilma!!!" and after Pebbles and Bamm Bamm sing and didn't show the logo at all and it never has appeared in remastered episodes that have shown in syndication along with the Cartoon Network and Boomerang. Also the episodes from 1960 to 1962 always had the MCMLXII date but you always knew what season it was.
Five season 2 episodes had Daws Butler doing the voice of Barney, because he took over while Mel Blanc was in the hospital recovering from his near-fatal car accident.
I believe i'ts an edited ABC 16mm Flintstones once cancellation in 1966, now edited to syndication. edited out the ABC commercials and sponsors fitted for syndication only.
Channel 50 in Detroit & Channel 25 in Flint/Saginaw used to have endings like this one on the 6th season of "The Flintstones", but the prints are long gone now. I think Channel 50 threw out their old 16-mm films back when they were bought out by Paramount's UPN station back in the 90's (Today Channel 50 is a C-W station while Channel 25 is a Fox owned station.) Canada had the old "Dancing Sticks" closing logo on their TV airings of Season 6 and didn't start using the "S from Hell" logo until September 1966, after "The Flintstones" was cancelled on ABC's prime time line-up.
After The Flintstones Were Cancelled In 1966, Many Independent Stations Across America Started To Take Over The Show During The Fall Of 1966, Including WTTG In Which Channel 5 Began Running The Flintstones Since Late October Of 1966. Channel 5 Ran The Flintstones For More Than 2 Decades.
In 1956, after the DuMont Network went out of business, a man named John Kluge formed something called Metropolitan Broadcasting Television, and WTTG was one of the many stations that was part of this independent network. By the fall of 1967, Metropolitan Broadcasting Television became Metromedia Television.
@@eascec8374 The long syndie reruns had ceased around 1997; due to Turner being bought out by Warner Bros via it's corporate owner Time Warner the year before (especially as Turner [under WB's control] chose to make their back-catalog exclusive to their cable networks), as well as the E/I requirements and the TV parental rating system being in place as factors.
This particular ending was used on more than just one episode. When the series was sold into syndication, the "S From Hell" Screen Gems logo was attached to even earlier episodes (replacing the Dancing Sticks).
@@jamesward6935 I never saw that the Flintstones were on WGN in the early 80's if you mean the one that was not on cable. I used to see it on WGN in the early 70's which sometimes had Frazier Thomas hosting it and was cut off. i started to see it on WFLD in Chicago around 1973 or 1974 and was cut off pre 1981 or 1982 . i saw both the Dancing Sticks and the S from heck.
@@williamstebbins7294 I need to clarify. By 1980 or so, I think The Flintstones WERE on WFLD. Think they were on WGN for pretty much the entire decade of the 70s. I recall the episode quality improved when on WFLD, so they may have only had upgraded episodes with the HB Spinning Star. WGN had the poor quality 16(?) MM episodes which contained the two Screen Gems endings.
I Found Some 16mm Print Of “Seeing Double” (Not Doubles) Online, And Both The S From Hell And The Same Closing Credits Were A Bit Brighter Than Normal And Must Be In Better Quality.
Wrong, this is from "No Biz Like Show Biz", the Season 6 premiere. This could well have been the first time a viewer watching this in 1965 was exposed to that odd new SG logo.
It was, and reportedly Danny Hutton played guitar on a number of the HBR sessions including this one. He also recorded as "The Bats" with co-songwriter Larry Goldberg.
If I'm not mistaken, this is the only online proof of SG logos being seen on the closings of The Flintstones. Can't spot legit endings with the SFH nor the Sticks.
Vance's TV Archive Really? The logo might be seen once in a blue moon in a much higher quality print? Did WB are in the process of restoring the logos for a future Blu Ray release of The Flintstones?
Rodney Arscher did the "S From Hell " documentary as a farce, even though quite a number of young children were scared of the "S From Hell" logo & jingle after the closing credits of "The Flintstones" & "Bewitched". The sounds of Bob Moog's Synthisizer at the time was strange & foreign to children's ears in mid-1965, but by the late 60's, the sound of the Moog was becoming more familiar. Even Mickey Dolenz & George Harrison started playing it on some Beatles & Monkees' songs. By the 1970's & 80's the Synth sound was everywhere.
Paul Hallett (I think) is still with us, but he left Channel 5 sometime after the Fox regime took over the station. He was staff announcer from 1963-87. Hallett used to do "Chiller" on Five during the mid-1960s on Saturday nights. Hallett was the announcer.
