    • @SucculentsandSpikes

      for opuntia, either rooted on not will do because they produce roots faster than other rootstocks. I haven't observed any disadvantage when using RS without roots. But for dragon fruits thats a different matter :)

    Hello, i tried to graft on opuntia ficus Indica but it failed. Can you please tell me the reasons you think it might have failed?

    Why some graft on opuntia with straight cut and the other with slope cut? When to choose which cut should we do?

    • @SucculentsandSpikes
      @SucculentsandSpikes  3 роки тому +1

      hi rita thanks for watching. hmm straight or slope? would the cut be on the scion or on the opuntia?
      perhaps the straight cut you are referring to is the "flat" graft simply because the cut on the opuntia and your scion is just horizontally flat.
      slope im not sure but it could be several things. (sorry)
      flat is the most convenient and basic.
      difference in the methods of cutting usually depends on how hard the graft is. i mean if the scion has "ununiformed" shape, then its best to use slab, or impale methods as they provide security on the fusion.
      flat cut are usually for normal, globular, or regular shapes because you need not apply extra effort joining them.
      hope this answers but if not just message me again. thanks

      Thanks for the answer. Yes, I meant flat cut on Opuntia, the rootstock.

    That's why I see no growth from my opuntia grafts yet.
    If it's okay to ask, what kind of fertilizers are suggested for opuntia grafted cacti?

    • @SucculentsandSpikes

      osmocote is just fine but I also use those which provides the "trace elements." Quarterly I also give them a doze of calcium :)
