I did some labbing and figured out what happened in the Pichu clip at 8:32 and why it didn't work for you guys. (tldr at the bottom) First, here's how thunder works. The thunder bolt spawns on frame 2 of the move, and will continue downward even if Pichu is hit. The second hitbox is frame 1 and there has intangibility on frames 1-10 as long as he is grounded (but the intangibility actually has nothing to do with this clip. What matters is that it's frame 1.) There are 2 conditions that need to be met for the second hitbox to come out: -Pichu and the thunderbolt must be overlapping... duh. -Pichu must be in the animation of using Down-B. If he is in hitstun or his idle animation, it won't come out. Second, Pichu's forward smash. Each hit of the multihit portion of this move has just enough hitstun to confirm into the next move, and no more. This means that if Pichu's f-smash is interrupted, the person being hit can act almost immediately afterwards. It should also be noted that Pichu's f-smash shifts his hurtbox forward a considerable amount. This should be enough information, no I'll explain what happened. I'll refer to the Pichu who used thunder as Pichu 1 and the Pichu who used F-smash as Pichu 2. -After spotdodging, Pichu 1 used thunder. If you go frame by frame, you can see him using it right before he gets F-smashed. -Pichu 2 hits Pichu 1 with F-smash just a frame too late to stop the thunderbolt from coming down. -When the thunderbolt comes down, it hits Pichu 2 because he was leaning into it from the F-smash. This interrupts the F-smash halfway through. -Because Pichu F-smash's multihit part has very little hitstun, Pichu 1 goes nowhere and is able to act again almost instantly. -Pichu 1 uses thunder... again. I was wondering what happened and tried to recreate it myself with no luck. You did some amazing stuff here figuring this out and I now wonder what moves also allow for this to happen because like you said, you need a tiny amount of hitstun.

To put a little skill into it, if you launch the sun first, you lose that point. So you have time it late enough to get the wind box before you get hit and cancel asap.

Due to this, the thunder interrupted the Fsmash, and after pichu got out of hitstun then he got hit by lightning. Both thunders (pikachu's and Pichu's) have multiple segments which is why this can happen. I believe that since characters in the air have differente properties than those on the ground it was not replicable with the down air's of falcon/ganon
I believe what happened at 8:31 was Pichu's forward smash is multihits, but traps with landing lag as well, and the other pichu got hit with his thunder when he was in the landing lag

The Pichu Clip works (I think) as follows: The Pichu F-Smashed the other right after he Down-B'd and got hit be the lightning coming down, which put the right side Pichu out of hitstun and made him able to get hit by his lightning.
In the Pichu clip, the Pichu getting hit broke out of the other Pichu's F-smash, during the F-smash, Pichu got hit by the thunder and because of F-smash being a multi hit, it didn't add enough hit stun to prevent the other Pichu to do the shock wave by being hit by its own thunder
@ 8:31 I think I know what happened there. Pichu does not thundershock if he’s in hitstun. That’s why the smart bomb didn’t work. But the lightning did hit the other Pichu, cancelling out the forward smash, since the pichu getting hit was let out of the F-smash, he was able to thundershock and kill the other Pichu.
10:35 how about you press down b again after hitstun ends to activate the state again? would that work? maybe the pichu in the clip was mashing down b, and since it's frame 1, he got put back into that state where he can accept the hit?
For the clip that busted your theory of final spark extending the timer, it’s weird because there isn’t usually a final spark in Time battles which that was.
The thunder thing: the multihit has low hitstun, the thunder hit the pichu that was doing the forward smash. Then the other pichu was out of hitstun and pressed Down b again. If you do that, it will be the outcome of the pichus clip.
