In all honesty, I thought it was life and our actions of as humans made her look like that
I think it means that even tho powerful men might gain her favor (such as at 1:01), it comes at the expense of many dead during the war. But the girl is pleased because the conflicts should bring further evolutionary progress.
Also those who live in harmony with the environment are also at risk, which is why the video shows a native american's skin erupting due to measles brought by the conqueror settlers. Specially compared with the factory owner and his kid for example, who seem to be having a good time in the video.

This video always puts me in a terrible mood, mostly sadness and anger but that's what's art it's supposed to do: Evoke emotion within you. It's a total masterpiece and everyone should watch it at least once in their life
Yea, this song and video definitely puts me in a "humanity is a piece of shit and we should all burn" edgelord type of mood. I recommend washing it down with Dan Bull's "Civilization" rap which paints humanity in a slightly more positive light, highlighting some of the greater accomplishments of humans with an overall message of "think of all the great and amazing things we have done and can do... when we're not being total assholes to each other."
War is a racket. And always has been.
War does not defend civilization. We keep trying to do civilization despite war.
Puts me in a “war is god” sorta mood
@wankertanker1813 Eighty years is all it takes to forget huh?
@@Mare_Man please elaborate
As a kid, I remember recording this video off of MTV on VHS and trying to pause it at 3:35 to see the face in the explosion. Now I can clearly see it's the guy that jumped off the building earlier in the video superimposed. This video is still a work of art all these years later.
This song was 1998 and the scene of the man in the VR gear playing some kind of sex game is eerily relevant to our times.
I remember playing a vr game as a kid in this mall arcade in Texas called tilt. It was the full body track pad thing, and I thought "they'll make porn like this one day" and I was right. It's human nature, any leap in technology will eventually be used for porn.
When it comes to technology there are only two certainties. Said technology will eventually be used for sexual pleasure or for war.
VR tech was around by the turn of the century, but definitely not like today.
Smartphones were small as well once, everyone wanted them small. But when they got good internet browsers and people noticed they could watch porn on it, all smartphones got big again
Not really that eerie or scary.
There are always 2 absolutes with tech.
They will find a way to make is sexual
They will find a way to make it violent
It begins disjointed and follows a "primitive" chord structure and then evolves, every turn the song itself becomes more sophisticated and brutal as it goes, even reaching the point of harmony and beauty during the choir in the middle 8. Great song and brilliant thematics.
that's actually really interesting, thanks stranger!
I 100% agree! It's a wild ride of a song! So much angst and expression in those 3 notes of the intro riff! Just root, minor 3rd, 4th. The guitar tone change for the chorus is super unexpected; it always kinda reminded me of that crazy Glorified G tone.

Truth hits harder than a jab 😉
This video clip is one of the best in existence as it shows reality in the most direct way. Human nature is violent and selfish and never changes despite advances in science and technology over time. It always ends corrupted by power.
The fact that they depict Death enjoying the chaos in all the eras, shows how she is the only victor among the cruel acts of mankind. Definitely a masterpiece.
Yeah but let's be honest: most animals are selfish and violent. We just happened to be the one who had opposable thumbs
@@flightlessboy4040 You have a good point, but the difference is that animals act on instinct and we have the ability to reason, which sadly is used mostly for twisted purposes.
@@weitwegvondir fair point but is it instinct for a dolphin to kill fish for fun? Is it instinct for a crow to grieve ? We know both of these things aren't done for survival. The average animal isn't locked to instincts as much as we'd like to think.

I love the subtle yet very crucial details in the song and video that really give us the story it portrays and its message.
That "2010 and watch it go to fire" lyric was pretty prophetic. That's right around the start of the world losing it's collective minds via social media. The guy with the vr headset punctuatied it.
the use of the hot goth girl in this song is genius. It proves their point. so many of us, including myself, get distracted by her or perhaps even focus on her more than the message of the song. Demonstrating the point that pursuit of pleasure overrides our conscience or reason.
I love how they pick up on that before she gets any screentime in the lyrics:
"I'm at peace with my lust | I can kill 'cause in god I trust, yeah" ... when most of us aren't and god being a manmade construct to apply repression and a fictional higher cause - that's why she's having a great time, symbolizing death. It's an incredibly well executed character.

I'm ahead, I'm a man
I'm the first mammal to wear pants, yeah
I'm at peace with my lust
I can kill 'cause in god I trust, yeah
*It's evolution, baby, yeah*
I'm at peace, I'm the man
Buying stocks on the day of the crash, yeah
On the loose, I'm a truck
All the rolling hills, I'll flatten 'em out, yeah
It's herd behavior, uh huh
*It's evolution, baby, good*
Admire me, admire my home
Admire my son, he's my clone
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
This land is mine, this land is free
I'll do what I want but irresponsibly
**It's evolution, baby, uh**
I'm a thief, I'm a liar
There's my church, I sing in the choir
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Admire me, admire my home
Admire my son, admire my clones
'Cause we know, appetite for a nightly feast
Those ignorant Indians got nothin' on me
Nothin', why?
*Because it's evolution, baby*
I am ahead, I am advanced
I am the first mammal to make plans, yeah
I crawled the earth, but now I'm higher
**2023**, watch it go to fire
*It's evolution, baby, ugh*
It's evolution, baby
Ah, do the evolution
Come on, come on, come on

2023!
@@naziftasnimul2598it was 2010, but 2023 looks more realistic.(
This video and song are simply masterpieces ❤❤❤❤
Hello, how are you doing? It’s nice meeting you here. Thanks for your love and support🌺you have yourself a wonderful day ahead 🌺🌺❤️🤘🏻
Heard this on the radio this morning. My 14yo daughter said she didn't like it. It is certainly a rough song, especially toward the end as it gets progressively more chaotic. However, all I could picture in my mind was this video and how it pairs perfectly with the song. The combination is powerful and the fact that it is 26 years since it was made and the prophetic nature makes me both mad and sad at the path humanity is taking.
This is the best clip of human history!
ITS EVOLUTION BABY
Best clip OF human history and best clip IN human history

Gostei da parte do piloto de jato, é bom ver outro brasileiro por aqui.

I liked the part of the jet pilot, it's good to see another Brazilian here.
I'm a man of simple pleasures
1. Goth babes
2 skeleton bombers
3. Pearl Jam
Me too man me too
Eh, I prefer ghost riders for my number 2.
Aren’t we all
@@superpaytonmars8852 Why not combine ghost riders with skeleton bombers?
@@themandaloriangamingnetwor4964 Wouldn't that just be a Ghost Rider possessing a bomber?
I have never seen a Videoclip that describes the human Nature more accurately.
thats true
The songs says just what the system says. There´s no human nature there, only death.
@@ricardozuniga9664There is the beauty that comes in when the choir singing comes up. Its just overshadowed by the raw power of evil.
Yeah, humans really loath themselves.
@@deepspacecow2644human bad, why can’t we all just live in a candy cane gumdrop world? 😢
Now i understand why deadpool wanted death so much
The animated music video for "Do the Evolution" was co-directed by Kevin Altieri, known for his direction on Batman: The Animated Series, and Todd McFarlane, better known for his work with the popular comic book Spawn and Korn's 1999 "Freak on a Leash" video.[10] The video was produced by Joe Pearson, the president of Epoch Ink animation, and Terry Fitzgerald at TME. It was written and developed by Pearson and Altieri with input from McFarlane and Vedder.[10] The total production time on the music video was 16 weeks.[10] The animation pre-production was produced by Epoch Ink Animation at their studio in Santa Monica, California. Under Altieri and Pearson’s supervision the Epoch team boarded and designed the short in less than six weeks.[10] Once McFarlane, Vedder, and Sony gave their final approvals, the short was taken to Korea by Altieri and Pearson for animation at Sun Min Image Pictures and Jireh Animation. Over a four-week period, a team of more than one hundred artists worked to deliver the finished animation.[10]

What symbolism?

It's not even symbolism it's literally just in your face with zero subtly. Religion bad white people bad war bad. You have to be a dickhead to think you're intelligent for grasping the message of the video.

"2010, watch it go to fire"
Damn, now thinking aboutt it, it was exactly this year that things went to go south around the world ( Lybia Civil war, The Arab "spring", the crisis around europe, Asia/ asia minor and the prelude to the actual politics, the technology advance, the actual state of society, Information expansion...). 2010's really when the world went on fire, and now, here we are.
You must be young. Things have been going down hill longer than that.
I can imagine Cain smashing Abel's head with a rock and be like

@Dawn Destache Cain as in the ''First Murderer'', the first man to take another's life for his own benefit.

@Jerron Steed No its specifically for the us. In God I trust is an american phrase found on the dollar bill and stuff.

I almost forget why i loved animation so badly. It’s brilliant, it’s perfect. Thank you perl jam.
