Hurricane Beryl hits Cozumel - July 5th

I'm interrupting my schedule of regular CozumelMan uploads to upload the dramatic events of July 5th when Hurricane Beryl slammed into beautiful island as a category 2 Hurricane. It was my very first hurricane - ever - and being in our new condo, we were somewhat terrified at how it would stand up to the onslaught of this 'swirling fury'. Here's my account of the lead up and the consequences of that hurricane we experienced yesterday.

Glad to see your first hurricane wasn't that bad. Since all rhe resorts depend heavily on tourism, they must have lots of experience dealing with these storms.

Absolutely trueJeff. In fact, by the next day at the beach resorts, there was virtually no sign of the hurricane at all! Shocking efficiency when it comes to ensuring that the tourist industry is not hurt.

Have you thought about future hurricanes and future seasons? How will you deal with those?

Very good comment. After all,, this was only a Category 2 and the island has before been hit by Category 4 hurricanes so we may look at Hurricane Shutters for our large all glass floor-to-ceiling doors / windows. That's the only area of possible major damage in future.
