Theo Fleury is a fucking hero. One of the best players I've ever seen and what he's doing after playing is almost as impressive-possibly more. I don't even need to watch this video to know how great this guy is and was. One of the most under-rated players ever and not celebrated enough in Canada. Theo if you see this-Thanks buddy for all you've done both on and off the ice. Man were you an awesome player-and that is an understatement

I remember when Theo came to Ireland and played for the Belfast giants for a year and he came to the uk league and tore it to shreds scoring 7 points in his first game 4 goals and 3 assists best ice hockey player to grace the EIHL and by far my favourite player ever I even named my goldfish after him

This man is a hero. Not only because I’m a flames fan, but for what he’s doing for mental illness. He’s an ambassador for how a person can start healing from these terrible afflictions. Thanks so much, Theo!

What a great testimony as to the potential of every human being to transform the pain of the past into something beautiful. There is a purpose even in our sufferings.

I was playing for G James in 79-82. Didn't see that side but twenty twenty vision come when looking back. Signed an affidavit in the Kennedy hearing. I see you as a good prairie boy and amazing hockey player. Love what you are doing now. Very strong, intelligent voice - keep it up!!

Great video interview (Lance Phillips). Thanks for sharing this - count me among the likes. I was a big Theoren Fleury fan... I can still remember getting up on a Saturday morning to watch highlights (and his enthusiasm) before going to swimming lessons each week. I wanted to be Fleury (although I would play goaltender in road hockey). In particular, thanks for sharing the part about "pain" and turning points. Regarding pain... haven't endured hockey infractions much, but I can remember attempts to "just get through it" - suffer a bit of pain but also meet an achievement level such as achieving a badge (in swimming). Great to hear about the success of your book, Theo. Your life "post-hockey" can be an inspiration to those former athletes - especially hockey players from the 80s and 90s - who need inspiration and something to do after their NHL careers are over. Finally, I have some empathy for your financial loss, Theo. We have had season's tickets since I was born and have incurred a loss to go along with a love or passion for watching the game. [As a side note, sometimes love just costs financially, plain and simple. Whether the recipient of something good...feeling a loss of one kind or another... or both... love and pain alike have an extended arm that reach so many of us].

Deep. Nice to see how this guy has grown, and grown up. Now he is a man. He is able to use his career as a hockey player to have a voice now. He can and is going to help so many for the rest of his life! What a blessing that he has his story to share and he has his calling in this part of his life and he knows it and he's going to help. So cool to see how much he cares... Good interview, thank you for sharing..

Theo belongs in the Hall of Fame ! He is 1 of only 15 players who averaged over 1 point per game in both regular season & playoffs - the other 14 are all in the HOF. Among those who played 1000 games or more he's 1 of just 33 who generated offense at a point per game pace or higher. He won a Turner Cup, a Stanley Cup, Olympic gold, World Junior gold and a Canada Cup. Ridiculous, no legit reason Theo Fleury isn't in the HOF !

he hurt a lot of people, and people who think he is some great man and a hero are being duped. For almost 20 years he was abusive physically, emotionally, sexually towards women. He hurt his family, and countless women. I know several women who had run ins with him from moose jaw to Calgary, and he was a selfish, disgustin, male chauvanist pig, and asshole to these women, I can only imagine how many hundreds of women he was like that to. Yet he does some therapy and makes himself the victim to garener sympathy. I know from all these women who have told me stories about him, that he is as phoney as they come. Sorry just being honest.
