In this video, Luke and Linus roast photos and videos of pc gaming setups from UA-cam creators, Twitch streamers, and other celebrities. TLDR; people need deskpads.

your setup was actually a bit heartwarming (if you can say such a thing about a workspace) it really matches the impression you give off on screen. unpretentious comes to mind. nice.

MKBHD explained in a setup tour that the reason there’s a bunch of extra cable is because it’s a standing desk so it needs slack
Yeah you would have thought that would be obvious to someone like Linus lol i guess not
You can coil it and it looks good though

I love how John Green and Simone Giertz had basically the same thing, just using a laptop with no peripherals at all, but Simone gets way more points because she actually included a picture of the cozy space she works in lol.
I do the same with a Legion 5 and a Medium Size Mousepad with a Viper Mini, and my Games go on a 2TB HDD and 1TB SSD, and these 3 devices are connected via an USB Hub to the Laptop. Can't explain how comfortable it is to sit on a Couch or a Bed, and it's fine for playing Singleplayer Games.

we need an entire episode on Asmon's setups! :D
30:33 The green audio box thing is a Roland Voice Transformer. You can shift your voice up and down, and apply effects
I learned from the best!! Also there's actually a small KVM switch mounted on the under side of the desk. I only use it when not streaming. It's an air gap security measure - I can't copy/paste my email password to the screen that's being livestreamed if the keyboard isn't connected to that PC 😂
That's smart. I use a KVM switch for my gaming PC and work MacBook. I couldn't stand using two different types of keyboards and mice.

The thing on the desk that looks like a soldering iron is an outboard microphone pre from Universal Audio, the Twin 610 or something I think.
Oh hey! That *"thing"* in BBNO$'s setup is actually a Mic Preamp - more specifically a Universal Audio 610 Tube Preamp - They usually sit around $1,700 and are typically used to give tone to a vocal (or any other instrument) and boost the volume. It totally looks like a soldering iron base, never made that connection aha
*Source: Am an Audio Engineer*
It only looks like an soldering iron base for someone, who never used a soldering iron with a base before..
But has only seen it online.
Ah, ya beat me to it.
Exactly. I saw the UAD logo and two black holes that looked like xlr inputs but wasn't sure of the model. Thanks for clearing this up. Actually, I would love to see more of musicians setups because they usually have a lot of cool gear Linus may not know about😅
@@Grigoriy1996 The Universal Audio SOLO/610 is a mic preamp and DI box so the black holes (2x TRS jacks) are D.I. input and pass thru =)

Linus crying and Luke laughing at Asmon's OG setup is beautiful comedy gold.
The tiny millisecond shot of Linus's face edited into the curtains behind him was hilarious. Props to the editing crew. It is the little things like that paired with the quality of the content that keep me tuning back in.
Steve from Hardware Unboxed built the whole thing himself. Not just the desk but the WHOLE BUILDING he built with his own 2 hands.
That's some god damn real passion right there
That was one of my favorites. You can tell it's so efficient!
Badass!

I love how Linus and Luke are like actively TRYING to find something to roast Jay about his setup. He's definitely an inspiration for how I'd want mine to look. Neat, clean, and organized. Not necessarily that same setup, but the look and feel of a good quality one
I'd say they were trying to find something to roast Jay about because his computer set up looks like it was staged for a magazine photo shoot.
@@jase_allen I'm sure you already know this, but that's what it usually looks like, every time anyone sees it on a video or in a picture... It's a tossup between Jay and Hardware Unboxed for best setup, as far as I'm concerned... I mean I'd love to have the amount of space that Hardware Unboxed has on their giant desk, but jays room and setup, are both more close to what I'd have available to work with, sizewise minus shelves and LED lights and strips... Well, and not including the huge TV either, but still, it's what I'd aspire mine to be...
@@WhiskeyTangFoxer they kinda have to, because most of these people should know how to have good looking setups and good cable management, and it IS A roast, where the goal is to find the worst looking part of the setups and tell people about it. The whole bouncing the key light of the wall is actually something I have seen and heard of a lot from UA-cam production setup recommendation UA-cam videos. So there is likely value to doing that.

6:30 that's a Universal Audio Solo 610 Mic Tube Preamp. Quite a nice piece of gear.
Luke back on a proper LTT video? I'm here for it.
6:30 that is a, sadly, discontinued mic preamp from Universal Audio called the SOLO 610 (you can tell that it is not the SOLO 110 because it has physical switches and not light up buttons). Absolutely phenomenal preamplifier, but also incredibly niche so I’m not surprised that it was discontinued.
For Kitboga, I believe the device you were wondering about is a Roland-VT-4 Voice transformer and Effects Processor. You know how he has to mod his voice for all his characters. Good video.
6:32 It's a Universal Audio 610 mic preamp and DI. $1200, baby.

Roasts are always enjoyable
10:57 The wall mounted camera is genius actually. Can't knock it over and it doesn't shake with your desk when you're intensely gaming. If I were a streamer, that's where I'd mount my camera. Maybe divert a wall mounted monitor arm for some more flexibility, but I'm totally sold on the idea.
9:30 the gestures and UX of OSX are actually really good, so it may actually be detrimental to workflow to use MKB
21:00 No no, they skipped over Ludwig saying that he is "Pretty big about cable management."
I can't express how excited I was to see you review LGR! He absolutely doesn't get enough recognition in the UA-cam community, especially considering how long he's been a part of it.
You missed the best part of Asmon's setup, he admitted to it as he watched your Starforge video:
When he had that old setup it was with a PC he didn't check for compatibility with the case all that well, so the only way it ran was with an open panel and the stand fan blowing air right into it. At 33:53 you can see the stand fan on standby right on the lower left corner.

I watched the video(s) of Hardware Unboxed building his special round desk setup a couple years back. He's quite the wood worker and converted that space all on his own.
About the ElectroBoom radio, my man, that's really really useful for debugging EMI issues or immediately finding out whether a beefy H-bridge is indeed firing. When a device misbehaves, you can hear it on the AM.

just in case you were wondering, with Hanks set up that wood wall is known as a French cleat it means you can make, or buy, the shelves so its a modular design that can easily be taken off and changed.
In this case it is completely custom made tho, not store bought.
