It's testament to you as a human being that you mention viewers who get immense pleasure from your youtube posts. I count myself as one of those but I'm able to go out and photograph as I please. I get the emotional side too. You're a fine exponent of the wildlife photographers craft but probably more important a fine and caring person. Thank you for being just that.
Totally agree some days are just hard work, or you have a great day, get home put images on the computer and they are just bad. The love of seeing nature and making it available for those that can’t get out is just awesome. Love the vlogs. Thank you.
I knew you were MY people when you said “ whoa, it’s great fun” and chuckled! Most of my friends don’t understand why I do what I do, getting up early and chasing wildlife. You can’t explain it to people who don’t get it. It is great fun…the best kind of fun!! Cheers to everyone who feels that feeling!
I continue to appreciate the reality of your vlog. Showing the cropping does give us a much better idea of what your camera and lens really does. When we see the final crop without the starting photo, it can be pretty depressing. I mean why can't I get something like that? Oh wait, I can!
And another great video Paul. I accidentally fell into photography, then later wildlife photography, and if it wasn't for my camera and my wonderful experiences in the field, then I wouldn't be here now. Photography saved my life. It's ok not to be ok.
Thankyou for sharing your experiences with us all 😊. I am mobility restrained and the noise of the Geese just made me smile. You inspire me to make the plans I need to get outside in the midst of a reserve somewhere quiet and just sit, watch the wildlife, and record the wonders that are all around.
Hi Paul, have to say thought this video was one of the best you’ve done since I’ve been subscribing, sometimes it’s just nice to sit and enjoy nature and just photograph what comes along. Also thought your point about people with struggles hopefully getting something out of your videos was just great and shows it’s not just about you. Hats off to you. 😀👍
Greetings Paul, Thanyou for this presentation. I've been a UA-cam follower of you for a short while, enjoying how you do your presentations. You make each feel as though I am sitting next to you watching how you capture your images. Keep up the great work.
nice light with the sun behind you Paul. I like the fact its tough sometimes. If we got loads of keepers every time we went out, maybe we would get bored with it? Thanks for sharing Paul.
The fact is, if it's a picture of a bird it is cropped. I use a 500mm f/4 lens and shoot from my blind at a distance that is just barely distant enough to allow the lens to focus.on the birds. Almost all of my songbird images are cropped. Yesterday I had a red-bellied woodpecker that filled the frame and I still had to crop off a bit of my 3:2 format for composition. Same with a bluejay. Cropping is just a fact of bird photography.
„Displaying“ otherwise known as „showing off“ 😂 I really like your style of videos. They help me to calm down. I like the gadwalls. They’re called „Schnatterente“ in Germany where I‘m from. That means „quacking duck“ 😊 BTW That last photo of the flying goose is really good!
I love these sort of videos! And you do them so well. I'm always pleased when I get the notification, and watch them as soon as I am able. I usually come away with a new piece of knowledge or idea to try out too! That was a great spot you found there, by the way. Love your little seat - it's just what I need as am in almost constant pain when walking or standing. I called my hubby to have a look. Who knows.... perhaps Father Christmas will bring me one! 😊
Hi Paul, personally I would stick with the vlogs, I like the way it’s received and we learn from the mistakes, which you could have edited out. Great work keep it up, Trevor 👍
Hi Paul. Your is a great help for us newbies. It would be nice if you would give an idea how far away the subject is in addition to the other data you provide. Thanx much Paul
Thank you. I will certainly have a think about this. I also made a video about getting close to Wildlife. You might find the beginning useful where I talk about distance. ua-cam.com/video/gKiGwUvH7z8/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
Ok, maybe this is a beginner question, but here goes. What is that hardware you “unlocked” to go vertical with the swan shot? I loosen the lens foot on the 100-500 slightly to do that, which makes me a bit nervous. I use a flex-shooter pro head.
Hi Paul, thank you for another great video! I’m wondering what shutter mode you use on your R6 (electronic, mechanical or EFC)? I think I could hear the shutter when you were shooting, so I was thinking mechanical or EFC. I’m using an R7 and adapted EF 500 f4 and usually use electronic (H for 15 fps). Also, if your 500mm is a version 1, can you tell me what replacement foot you have attached? Cheers. -Mark in California
Hi Mark. I'm using Electronic first curtain here, I often use it if I'm expecting action as it avoids rolling shutter.. and it's quieter than mechanical. I do use electroinc often though. Out of interest, can you tell me how you change that frame rate to 15 fps, in electronic, on the R7.. I couldn't figure it out when i borrowed one! Yes, the lens is version 1 and It's a Kirk lens foot.. been excelllent.
@@PaulMiguelPhotography thanks for the info on your usage of EFC vs Electronic, totally makes sense! As for the R7's frame rate: "H+" is 30fps and "H" is 15fps. To change frame rate, I hit the "Q" button and change it on that menu that pops up. I think shutter speed is on the left side of the screen, 3rd from the top. I seem to have better results with 15fps than I get with 30.
Just to add: with Mechanical and EFC shutter on the R7, the frame rates are significantly different than Electronic. For those two options, "H+" is 15fps and "H" is 7-8 fps. Kinda confusing for Canon to mix it up like that.

I always look forward to your videos Paul. You are honest with your images.

Thank you. I enjoy this style very much.

Hi Paul, Great video, one of your best, I’m liking this format, you can’t beat the in the field experience 👍
Good luck with the Vlogs Paul, enjoyed this one. I love just picking a spot and letting things develop around me.
Thanks Sean. Something I should do more often. Can be very relaxing.
Hi Paul - just found your videos - another great wildlife photographer to follow 😊 - TY for you videos
Some great shots there and an interesting video again. Thank you.

lovely work Paul!
Very kind Chris. Thank you!
Great video again, loving the gadwall images. Hoping to have that many barnacle geese, fly over me this weekend in Dumfries
Best of luck Ian. Those barnacle geese are quite pretty. It'll be noisy though!
@PaulMiguelPhotography always are, but worth it 🙂
Great video Paul I have learnt some presentation ideas thank you😊
Really appreciate thank you. Keep moving forward!
Recognised the place from thumbnail 😊
I enjoyed this video.
Super video, what tripod head are you using please ?

Hi Paul I always enjoy your Vlogs, just as a guide how long did you spend on this particular shoot. Keep up the good work
Thank you Doug. Around 3 hours I think.

Yes, it's the lens collar that allows the lens to spin round. Same as your lens.
did that helicopter distract them paul ??!!
No didn't seem to.
hey paul im hoping to save up for a canon r7 after christmas

Hi Paul where abouts is this location I’m from Sheffield myself would like to know this location as I’m new to wildlife photography
Hi. It's St. Aidans. Great place, but very big. I tend to visit different areas at a time.
