I was in Lowe's last week trying to buy $400. worth of stuff. I had a 20% discount code. My code, and temporary shopping pass were both declined. I told the clerk I'm putting the stuff back. It's really inspiring how he even pays for the items for the people who are rude and not generous. For those people, maybe the act of generosity towards them, even when they don't "deserve" it will be enlightening on some level.
Probably some of the 'don't deserve it people' are just really struggling. I remember when money was really tough..like seriously rice every day...I was busking on the street and someone asked for $5 for a coffee. I gave it to him..but not without tears later on. Sometimes you just don't see the absolute desperation in people that are struggling.
