- Lotus Pond and Pagodas
The Lotus Pond (Lianchihtan) is a scenic area in Zuoying District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, featuring the Dragon and Tiger Pagodas. The pagodas, built in 1976, are twin seven-story towers with yellow walls, red pillars, and orange tiles. They are connected to the shore by a zigzag bridge and have a double spiral staircase for visitors. Inside, there are paintings depicting Ksitigarbha, the twelve Magi, the Jade Emperor’s thirty palaces, and Confucius.
Currently, the Dragon and Tiger Pagodas are undergoing renovations and are temporarily closed to the public. Visitors can still view the site from outside but cannot enter the pagodas.
Lotus Pond is surrounded by various temples and pagodas, making it a popular destination for sightseeing and cultural exploration. The area also includes other attractions such as the Spring and Autumn Pavilions, the 5-mile Pavilion, and the Pei Chi Pavilion.
This is one of the most popular sites in the city and you should plan on several hours exploring. You can also combine it with a visit to the old city of Zuoying that is nearby.

This is one of the most popular things to see in the city. It’s near the old fortified city as well and can be combined with a visit there. Here is a video of it if you want to see more.

Now That is cool
@@joezip6389 ya this was a great area. The 2 pagodas were closed for remodeling but we got to see a million other things. Definitely a place worth visiting.
I must say that Chinese Art is insane completely out of the world. I don’t know maybe it’s just with me but if I keep looking at a piece of Mural or Picture it has the ability to transport me mentally to some other world that feeling cannot be described, the Chinese Art is so wonderful. Right from outside of the buildings’ design to the murals, paintings inside. Not sure how to describe that in words😅
But all in all it was fantastic, as expected you showed this classic art in your video so thank you for that. However I am a bit confused about that Temple which you showed in your last segment (just before showing Tiger Pagoda) was this temple Buddhist or Taoist or Chinese Folk Religion? ConfuciusTemple I understood but still not clear about identity of those temples
@@singhjasbeer5216 I always get confused between the different types of Chinese temples. The colors and similarities always leave me just kinda trying to take it all in. I was confused by it also. I would say Taoist. This is the best I can find about it.
“The Spring Pavilion, dedicated to Guan Gong, and the Autumn Pavilion, honoring Confucius”
I could be wrong since I’m not exactly sure. I couldn’t read the Chinese to tell while I was filming it. Sorry I can’t be any more help than that.
@ Ohk thanks for the information. Apparently that’s true also that Chinese practice somewhat mixed religion from Taoism, Folk Religions, Buddhism. The paintings of Buddhist hells inside dragon and the GuanYin Boddhisattva’s statue made me ponder if this could be a Buddhist Temple too.
@ it seems to be much more common here in Thailand also. Lots of Chinese and Hindu elements will be incorporated into some of the temples. Here is an example of one in Taipei where it’s all 3 religions combined into one temple.
