- A mysterious disappearance left this entire town without answers! Chaos Divers takes on the case of Barbara Rushton PART 2
Case Details:
Barbara Rushton left her home on Old Forest Road in Vestavia Hills on August 29, 1984, to play cards with friends. Her husband watched her drive away in her white 1980 Volkswagen Rabbit, and a short while later her friends called to say she hadn't arrived. Her husband called police, and a search was launched for her and her car. Neither has ever been found. Authorities interviewed family, friends, and co-workers and dug deep into her life. She had resigned her job. Co-workers told investigators they had seen her and her husband arguing the day before she disappeared. He daughter told investigators that her mother wasn't behaving normally before she left for her card game - she had a blank stare and was upset and crying. Over the next days and weeks, authorities did ground and aerial searches. Authorities flagged Barbara Rushton's Social Security number, but it has never again been used, nor have any of her credit cards. About $4,000 in her bank account also went untouched.
Because she was a type-one diabetic who didn't have her insulin when she left home, some think she might thought she might have wandered away in a diabetic amnesia. She was eventually declared dead. (Information retrieved from NamUs.gov)

Thank you Lindsay, Jacob, Britton and Josh for your hard work and perserverance searching for the missing people. So Lindsay got issues with birds and carps attacking her, ok! Nice drone shots showing the bodies of water, nice editing for continuity, please don't stop, know you won't! I loved the last few minutes hearing Lindsay's stories of duck attacks. Been feeding mallards and Canadian geese at the park by hand for years, laughing hard, thanks Lindsay!

Wow ! Well , first off . This was a very , very , well done video . From the Narration to the drone footage and the editing . Just Outstanding ! Definitely , professional quality . But , hmmm. Even if it has been 38 yrs ago . Unless she had no friends in 84 , or family still alive . Someone should know where she lived ! I would think , that if anybody could say where she was coming from & going to the night she disappeared . It would help narrow the search a lot ! Sorry , but I am 72 and I could tell you where all my family and friends lived in 1984 ! Just seems odd to me that the GD doesn't know ?! That aside , as I said ... First rate quality video ! .. gubs

If I may armchair quarterback...that last scan with the trees had several square-ish objects that I think deserve to be dove on. Remember, this was a 1983 small square car that has had decades to deteriorate into a pile of rust. Respectfully, I just don't think you can call that last location cleared.
I would be interested in seeing a comparison video of searching a body of water with the Little Buddy, and then a “manual” search of the same water with the boat. As a viewer, I feel like we see much less of the water bed. I enjoy the banter and interaction of all of you, but again as a viewer, it just doesn’t “feel” as thorough.
Just my own thoughts, love you guys!

Is there any way you guys can get a real time view of the little buddy as it scans? That's the only part I think (from only my viewing knowledge) that might improve your guys' chances of finding objects. It just seems that in the boat, you'll go over and over an item to rule out or rule in. Single scans can hide things. It was just a thought. Don't know if that would help, but anything that does is a bonus. Thank you for your service to all these missing ppl.and their families. Stay safe and keep being awesome
It won’t necessarily improve our chances because we will see whatever the sonar picks up, but we do have a new system that allows us to view in real time from the shore.

I was so hoping Barbara would be found on this trip, the team certainly made every effort to rule out all those waterways. Something I just thought about at random: When you guys are working a cold case as old as this one, do you connect with local community representatives that can help you, maybe by providing maps of the area from the general time frame of when they went missing? The Birmingham area has changed a LOT in 30 years!

I love you guys. Without you and other teams loved ones would never have answers. I just think the 'Lil Buddy' is fantastic. SO many areas can be checked in such a short amount time. It's also a money saver. Not as much gas needed for the boat. Which means 'that' money can be utilized in gas for the RV so you can travel farther. It was very nice to see Brit and Josh. Didn't know Josh was there until I seen the drone flying. Then I knew. He is such a great videographer. His mustache is going to take getting used to though. I like it, but not used to seeing him like that. Wonder how his dogs take it. Thank each one of you for taking time out of your lives to help someone else in theirs. You are all an asset to humanity. Lindsey, for me it’s not the ducks, it’s the geese. They’re very mean and will chase you just to chase. Near where I grew up there was a park that was filled with geese and they’d gang up on you. If you’ve never been bitten by a goose, don’t laugh. Those bites are for real!

how long does the battery last? how long does it take to charge?
We can use the Lil’ Buddy for a full day of searching and then it take anywhere from 2-6 hours to fully charge, depending on how long we used it.
Have you checked old census for the older cases address info?

Don't feel bad Lyndsay my daughter is scared of birds as well. We had a couple of pigeons and a cockatiel. I spelled that wrong. She would have nothing to do with them. It's okay phobias are just that.

Lindsay, I just want you to know that my Mom is equally petrified of birds. She was worse when I was younger (I’m 53 now), but as she’s gotten older it’s dissipated a bit. PS Lindsay….
Myself and my two daughters (when they were young), all got chased by a swan 🦢 We were checking out a local pond and apparently got too close to a nest that we didn’t even see.
I’ve never saw my oldest daughter run to the car and get in it so fast. As for myself and my youngest daughter, I had to turn around and grab her and run back over all the steps I’ve done before. I had a major brain toot by not grabbing her at the instant I noticed that swan charging at us. By the time I did notice, my oldest daughter was already at the car! 😂 She didn’t even warn us that it was coming at us! 😂🤣🤣
We made it unscathed. 😂
PS. Geese leave nasty bruises wherever they can get you. Who would ever think a beak could do that? They don’t just grab you, they have to twist the skin they grab too! 😂 It’s a little painful, but we always cracked up laughing afterwards. 😂
