Omg I want to be so excited for this! Dragons are a huge part of my practice and I’m constantly looking out for the right addition to my divinatory decks. Harder than you’d think. This is a fantastic idea for a deck and seems substantive in which dragons were chosen. However, so few cards irritates me to no end and wtf is up with the guidebook? Like what’s the point of this? Llewelyn usually has pretty decent guidebooks. It feels like they are underestimating us and just like oh hey, it’s dragons- that’s enough… I can buy a cool dragon poster or T-shirt if I just need an image. It’s a beautiful deck and I love the dragons chosen, but at a price point that’s at or above similar more meaty options, it’s just frustrating. I’ll probably still get it at some point, either on sale or used. Wow, I guess I had a stronger reaction than I thought lol…. I love your walkthrough tho! Thanks for sharing❤
I am fully with you on all of your points. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a guidebook from them that was so lackluster and scant on guidance, so this one was quite a surprise. Also I can imagine adding dragon decks to your collection being challenging. I’ve been lowkey on the hunt for a dragon deck that I’d vibe with for a couple years now, and just haven’t found any yet that would work for me. I thought this one looked promising, but then the guidebook happened lol. Anywho, thank you for sharing your thoughts! I enjoyed reading them and I hope you find some awesome dragon fits in the future! 💜
Right? Real missed opportunity there, and it makes me scratch my head as Llewellyn’s guidebooks are usually so informative. Thanks for watching and for sharing your thoughts! 💜
It really does boggle the mind lol. I mean I would hope that wasn’t the case, but this being so short on substance really doesn’t make any sense. It’s a shame too, as the artwork is so beautiful and inviting. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts! 💜
You are absolutely right! This deck has a serious problem. I was thinking about getting it, but now i think i'll pass. To be honest, talking about dragon illustrations, Tarot of Dragons is much, much better & substance/messages wise, Dragon Path Oracle by Caroline Mitchell is sooooo much better, in my opinion. ;)
Yeahhhh, I had a feeling this one would probably put some people off, due to the card count being low and the guidebook being skeletal. Thank you for recommending Dragon Path Oracle, though, I’ll have to check it out! Thanks for watching and for sharing your thoughts! 💜
The cards look fantastic! But it looks looks like they spent money on making the box and guidebook look pretty, but not enough money on the actual guidebook content itself (as in, they edited it down to minimise the number of pages).
I agree with you, and legit wonder at what exactly happened for this guidebook to be so scant. Or who thought it was practical in like the quality assurance/testing phase?
Omg you’re so right, it didn’t even dawn on me that they could’ve supplied such a guide themselves lol. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts btw! 💜
Hi Reuben! So truth be told, I got about a quarter of the way through doing so and realized it wasn’t worth doing (for me). As you say, there’s definitely overlap, and coupled with the card count being so low, I just got irked by the thought of doing what the author couldn’t be bothered to and gave up lol. It’s a shame the guidebook turned out how it did 😅

This is s a gorgeous deck, it's a shame the guidebook isn't more. 😍

The sparse guidebook along with so few cards feels like they were doing the bare minimum to sell a deck. Bummer!

I was also thinking they could've at least added a pronunciation guide

It’s def giving high fantasy vibes
Right? The artist nailed the visual vibes
How are you finding it now after doing your own research? I think a lot of these dragons represent similar/the same themes?
