Happy trails on this new segment of your journey, Dave--I can tell that you are a conductor with style! And the music for riding off into the night was just perfect. The Santa Fe engines in lightning and the Mountains of Hesperia (after that crazy storm) were both beautiful, and I always enjoy seeing the Wabash and First Responder engines--plus the Ontario, which was very cool! And there's something about a Loram in a storam (sorry, I'll show myself out). It's neat to see Chehalis again too; I've missed it. Altogether a wonderful Grab Bag--thanks guys!

It appears likely the trailing cloud was cargo/material leaking from one of the bottom unloading hatches.

Is that Southern Pacific passenger car possibly the ONLY one being used on normal main line travels right now? And how did CSX get it and not paint it yet? Lastly, WILL they be repainting it anytime soon?? Honestly I hope not!!!!
They acquired the car in 2020, so it looks like they're in no hurry to paint it. It's a 10/6 sleeper likely used as crew quarters. It's possible that the car is on long term lease, which could explain why it is still in SP livery.

On the retirement clip did you notice there were no passengers. Don't know what the answer is to get more riders but the trains may be going away if ridership dosen't increase.
Quincy is the last stop, all passengers had already detrained, train is now moving to tie up for the night.
The Chicago to Quincy trains are funded by the State of Illinois and they’re really popular. On weekends especially during the summer months its not unusual to see the trains sold out
That was us going back to Chicago in the morning. We had already boarded the few passengers riding that morning. It’s our slow time, but it’ll pick back up soon.
