Fort Ritchie Maryland. I was stationed there in 1978...loved it! I went back in 2018 and did a video of all the historic buildings here on UA-cam. Didn't get to the housing area which this video is mostly made up of, but thanks for doing this.
Abandoned military bases are a waste. Why not renovate and repurpose them to service the homeless with housing and rehabilitation programs to transition them into productive members of society?
i love the simplicity of your videos. no crazy effects and obnoxious music. i subbed a few weeks ago when dan bell did a live stream and said for us to go sub. i’m glad i did! 👍🏼
I grew up in Ft. Ritchie. My dad was stationed there. I Attended high school at Smithburg and worked at the Teen Center where you were filming. It wasn’t a gym. I miss this place. Thanks for the upload.
UPDATE : First they didn't have less than 5 days, they had less than 6 months to move out (lease was expired). The base closed in 1998 and was open and rented out to 88 families under short term leases. The familes did get a pention out and try to stop it unfortunately to no avail, last family left in Dec 2017. The company who bought it out to turn the lans in condominiums fall through. In 2021 it was then bought by a private investor who is known to have done quite well in turning around formal military hosuing. Also side note, rule of thumb to any urban explorer - take only memories, leave only footprints 11:18
Great footage- thanks for sharing. Considering the base closed 20 years ago, I am very, very surprised that the insides of these structures haven’t been damaged beyond recognition by looters, vandals, and copper thieves
That was cool, but I really hate all that waste. Seems like they could have turned it into a cool little community, with a clubhouse to rent out for parties.

Super cool explore. Thanks for taking us. I discovered you through Dan Bell.
It's like you're Will Smith's character from I AM LEGEND roaming around the city.
I stayed here when I worked at Woodstock 99....the employees lived here for the 5 days

With what we know now about PFOA and other chemicals used around bases, wonder if it would be safe. Point taken, though.

I lived right above ft. Ritchie
What was the story behind this base being abandoned, why did they only have 4 or 5 days to get out?
