Still amazing to see the level of tech that went into the Vettes from then. And just think...it was probably similar if not exactly as advanced as that going into our US military jets of the time! Great content. I always wondered how those things worked!
Man, isn't that the truth. I remember the first time I tore one down I was amazed at the complexity and how they managed to tranmsit the electricity and colorize the LCD displays.
Ok, that's good info. I couldn't remember if the automatic and standard cars both had the upshift light built into the tach lens assembly. Thanks for the comments👍
@@VetteSource yup he has a listing for gauge cluster repair you can either send yours to get refurbished or buy one off him kinda pricy around $150 I think
Its not the cheapest, but that's not too bad considering the amount of time it takes to disassemble, remove/replace the polarizing film, and put it all back together again. Plus when they are working correctly, it's the coolest feature in the interior/cockpit.
Hey Griffin, this is a 96 LT4 in Competition Yellow. Not quite as rare as the 89 Bright Yellow, but still only around 100 produced. I have a playlist for this car here if you haven't seen the videos - ua-cam.com/play/PLAM-V1w3acpiMjpJE5Z26MGUSFdcXdwHh.html
Yep, that was the cool 😎 thing to do back in the day. This car sat abandoned and neglected outside for many years. I had no expectations that cluster would do anything except be something I could harvest for parts. At the very least, I was able to make a video describing the internals to help out some of our fellow Corvette gearheads.
@@VetteSource This is a helpful video my gauge cluster also needs service. I used to talk to my Seiko watch like it was KITT from Knight Rider anyways keep the videos coming love the content😎😎📼☎

What a great video. You hear about them going bad, but no one ever takes the time to explain how it works and how to repair it.
Brian, thanks for the feedback. Glad it was helpful👍.
My 87 auto has the up shift feature. And knock on wood, I've never had a problem with the dash. 133k on the odometer. 👍

I sent mine to Bryann Thompson at Battee.com
@@chaseyoshida1569 If you think 150 is expensive for Corvette parts, good luck:)
What year is your Vette? I am wondering because it is yellow and in 1989 they only made 8 of them! If you have a 1989 Vette that car is very rare!

Take a 96 apart please
Sure thing. I will put it on my video to do list👍.
Seiko watches I still have my Seiko watch😎😎🇺🇸🇺🇸☎📼
Yep, they are good timepieces. Reliable and cool looking, especially the ones with built in calculators
@@VetteSource I used to set my watch to beep every hour LOL that gauge cluster looks like it's been around the block quite a few times😳😳🤓🤓

Will do, man👍
How much....how much😃😁🤠😍😎
Probably going to keep it around for now since I am running low on spare parts. I will let you know if I decide to let it go👍.
