One thing about Viet moms, when you can barely speak Vietnamese anymore and you pronounce a word wrong or say something totally off, they laugh their asses off and proceed to tell the WHOLE family and ALL of your aunts, uncles, and cousins about how bad your Vietnamese is....

+Maria Huynh Anyone else recognize the spelling of Vietnamese words in the video? There's no accent mark for "rice porridge" (cháo) so it's read as chao (fermented tofu) lol. I'm not a grammar Nazi; I've been trained to survive Vietnamese spelling quizzes.

Yeah, our parents speak vietnamese to us cause they don't want us to forget our mother tongue and our culture. I love it when I met Vietnamese who live in other countries for a long time but they do prefer speaking vietnamese, that's what make me feel warm.

***** Mình hiểu ý bạn nhưng có những trường hợp như các anh chị này đã sinh ra ở nước ngoài và không sõi tiếng việt thì mình cũng phải thông cảm cho họ. Có nhiều người con đẻ ở nước ngoài, họ không muốn nói tiếng việt vì đối với ng nc ngoài tiếng việt khó nghe, mình chỉ mong họ nhận ra giá trị của tiếng mẹ đẻ và tự hào khi nói nó thôi

I love starting with the fried fish. I'm Vietnamese and my wife is very white and when I made fried fish for her - it was the first fish dish she liked. We live in the Pacific Northwest, where there is plenty of fresh fish and now our daughter enjoys it also. I made Chao today and getting it ready for tomorrows dinner and my wife came home sick and that is the only dish she can eat with a sick stomach. I make Chao every year for all my neighbors at our Asian New Year party, it's always a favorite dish.
