Thank you for a non biased opinion and for showing us the reality. You saved me money.. as well as ire from my wife XD
it's an early access game so the bugs don't bother me much. I think the platform that they have feels great and the car models are pretty well detailed. Definitely excited to see what they do in the coming weeks.
Golden word “early access”. I see so much potential in this. This coming from an ACC player who’s played it from its early days.
Right? ACC was pretty messy even during its first year after the full release.
@@Law0fRevenge ACC was a joke. Nürburgring and the Lambo as the first car, Jesus the ffb, kerbs, everything was shit.
Same here. Plus, I drove ACC in VR as soon as it, erm, "worked". (with a 1080 back in the days)
Also, I would not consider ourselves as guinea pigs but rather as smart investors. Yes, we get an unfinished product, but also with an unfinished price tag.
The state of WRC 23 at its release for the full price was much bigger pain than an early access.
Bro jumps in a hypercar, has his tires up to temp in half a lap, pumps a stonk lap out while chatting casually. Meanwhile me cant even keep my tires warm 😅. Good review.
it's like real life, le mans still have tyre warmers@@dddense
They are endurance racing wheels, not Formula 1 wheels @@dddense
I'm in no rush to buy this game for two reasons: 1) I don't have enough time to sink into it these days, 2) I need to see how things shake out with MSG, I don't trust them as far as I can throw a hypercar.
that makes sense
3) Busy playing Helldivers 2
I'm the third option as well haha, except it's Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
Motorsport Games moment
I personally think the biggest thing that's holding this game back in peoples minds is that they don't trust MSG - rightly so as MSG has been an utter shitshow, making mistake after mistake after mistake, not to mention questionable financial decisions that potentially border on illegal. In fact the vibe that I'm getting is that a lot of people in the community simply want MSG to fail regardless of whatever they produce.
However I personally believe that the debacle around MSG was caused by their financial immaturity, overly high goals, and lack of experience in terms of development costs and timescales rather than malice. You don't start a company concentrating on sim racing development to rip people off, there are far easier, faster and more profitable ways of doing that. To that end I'm hoping that a corner has been turned in terms of their management style, expectations, and financial maturity.
I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt on this. LMU is currently one of the better early access games I've bought and it's clear to me that they, and especially Studio 397, want this to succeed. I think people forget that the first ACC early access was just one car and one track and nobody complained, but I guess that Kunos enjoyed the luxury of trust that MSG most certainly does not have.
To that end I bought the game and will not be refunding as I personally want the game to succeed. Now it may be that 6 months down the road it's dead and gone, and you're all telling me "we told you so", and if that's the case then I'll be sad - not because I lost a few euros, but that the game, which IMO has so much potential, has failed.
By the way the first patch dropped today addressing some, but not all, game breaking issues.
I think there comes a point when people need to let this stuff go and judge products how they are and for what they are. Yesterday the game had a Steam review score of 60 % negative at the beginning and it's at 75 % positive now. The guys from MSG and S397 at the Discord have been very helpfull and fast with support and the first patch has allready fixed a few issues. You don't turn a review score like that if your product is a complete mess and if you aren't passionate about it. They could just grab the money and move on. It has been in the Topseller list on Steam and some of the refunders have allready rebought it, so I am pretty confident that they will support it. ACC had a much more rough start for the same amount of money, with less players, no multiplayer and just one car and one track, abysmal performance, a lot more incopetent AI wich it still has btw, wonky physics and numb FFB and it's a pretty decent product now. Yes, LMU has some issues, but it also does alot of things right, that other fully developed titles don't manage to offer right now. Time will tell what the future brings :)
I could be wrong about this. But , similar to ACC with the GT3 this is the "official" WEC game.
Hopefully meaning contractual obligations to develop and improve the game.
Genuinely looks like it can be really good
8:52 "Guys, trust me, I went to the track and made sure each tree is where its supposed to be."
I trust onboards and comapring it to the title
ua-cam.com/video/bpvfS-FBR18/v-deo.html
The assets are really good. the quality of the tracks is excellent.
Found the forza guy 😂😂😂😂😂 these kids r so weird holy fk they ride n bandwagon there shit so hard even when its clearly bad in so many areas there blinded n will defend it. These forza kids r special there not sim racers they exclusively play forza only on controller n ram others. There favorite thing to do is watch videos of actual sim racing n just bash on it n try to convince ppl forza is good.
The rule of thumb with early access is that your buying the game as it is now, not for how it will be in the future. Early access is not a promise the the game will be fixed, or of any future content. I hope it gets better, and becomes a great game, but Motorsport games is under no obligation to do so under the EA guidelines. I'm waiting to see how fast they patch bugs and add content before wasting money on this game. I feel like Motorsports games did it this way to fulfil contractual requirements, and because the game isn't close to being ready.
For gods sake go on the games website and read the early access section they explain everything transparently. And worst case scenario you’ve parted ways with 30 bucks. If 30 bucks are a threat to your existence you have other things to worry about other than video games.
So valid points. Imo Motorsports needs to go bankrupt, so developers are free. Maybe then they build a new good game from ground up. LMU was promised being delivered as full release. Plus RFactor2 still is broken beyhond repair but has way too expensive DLCs.
If they announce plans for historical seasons with complete car/track lists, I will absolutely jump on this game right now.
I want this game to be good. We need more endurance racing sims focused on the endurance part of it.
It is early access but I think what is causing more people to not be willing to invest in this early is the devs have a title RF2 which sort of was left in a hot mess as compared to what those that purchased the game was expecting as it was being polished.
Once you earn that reputation within a dedicated group of that genre of gamers do not be surprised when more are skeptical and are not willing to trust that this game by the same folks will end any differently.
Devs need to prove to most consumers of this type of content that this game will live up to its potential in advance of most people being willing to spend their money trusting and to end up in reality feeling like they were burnt again.
Yeah. Heaven forbid I wouldn’t want my £25 one of payment go to waist. It’s less than a round of drinks.
I find it disappointing that there is so little progress since rF2 and I have zero confidence that the bugs will get fixed. That said, I still really enjoy driving it...
For Info:while you are moving your head (away from mic), volume changes from 100 to 20.....and back to 100... (hard to listen with headphones), Thanks for video.
Picked up the game a couple of days ago, spent yesterday playing it.
They've done some patches & it ran fine. Can't wait to see what they add to it in future, it's getting me back into racing again.
Thanks for the in depth look!
Just a quick correction, at the 1:35 mark, the 2nd one is Corvette, not Cadillac. :)
Thanks for that!
The buggy UI is enough for me to avoid at this time.
I just in love with that g force camera bounce , every damn game should have this nowdays , add so much more realism to the driving experience , you really fell the horsepower and the road
Motion sickness enters the chat
12:59 yep the Drift style is here on LMU aswell
must be an issue with RF2 physics
you can drift and gain some time
anyone know if you have to use compatability mode on csl dd for this game?
The historic cars would be really cool
well rF2 does have VR, probably a matter of time until it gets added into LMU
This game has some potential, but for that to be realized, Studio 397 and Motorsport Games have to go their separate ways.
... So in order for the game to improve, S397 needs to lose ALL funding and a few staff off of their already small team? Do you people even think before you comment? I mean honestly.
In all fairness, MSG has bad rep but they changed CEO recently to no other than Stephan Hood. He was in charge of the F1 games a while ago, specially chief game designer in the 2010 and 2011 games and creative director in the 2012 and 2013 games, which means he was in a way responsable for bringing old F1 cars to the game for the first time. (He then worked on other games and game companies before joining MSG)
So as far as CEOs go, i'd say MSG has the one that can save the image, maybe this partnership can have a bright future after all 😅
You fund it then tough guy
if they have good 3d vr mirrors i might get it, but doubt it
Loving the callback haha, nice video. Not the type of cars that excite me but interested in its development all the same
Ricardo, it's much better now, there was a little bug fixing going on 😜
In South Africa the price is only 16 USD, so it was worth for me
Fairest review so far. Other first impressions talked about what wasn't there and not enough emphasis on the fact that this is an early release.
My advice? If you like and want a fully licensed series sim and the benefits and limitations that come with that then buy if you want to be able to hopefully influence the final product. If you wait until full price and then don't like certain things then you had your chance.
Right out of the box I felt comfortable with it and it was familiar because of rFactor 2 which I've had for years.
I have a Fanatec CSL DD with the McLaren wheel and it recognized it and the set-up of buttons was very easy.
I only tried the Sebring circuit in a 24 minute race but it was fun and I actually didn't have issues with dumb A.I. ;) I got rear ended once but that was because a P2 car was trying to get around a GTE car and I braked a bit early. LMH and P2's breezed by me and would go off-line if need be or would stay behind me if it was too tight an area to pass.
It offers way more than ACC did on early release. Graphics are excellent and I get no frame rate stutter during a race. I have recently though upgraded my PC significantly so performance will depend on your PC and the settings you try.
the price will go up?
@@rizo_19 yes, this is an early release because they are still working on additional features. It will go up in increments as they update it. ACC did a similar thing but started with much less content. Full price will likely be double the current price in maybe 1 year from now or less.
@@ronknox3376 ahh, so the wise option would be to buy it now, its basically 50%off with a side of bugs?
I will wait for the VR support...
VR support got announced too, just later down the road, but confirmed
I played it in VR today. It’s easy to do - Google it.
driver swaps are confirmed along with many other features. sim is looking very promising
the one that bother me sometimes the game run like power point slide that my rtx 3060 laptop can't handle dang when i run 3 class racing
I think if the game is early access for a year, with upgrades, bug fixes, and a full release (which would include (GT3, leagues, online official 24h events, etc) before the WEC next season, I’d consider buying it, but as many people stated I do not have time to sink in time in it
Just remember one thing : every single game nowadays is just a beta for the first 6 months , only 5% of the games nowdays is a finished and polished game. Mostly made in Japan games
Very Casual Sim Racer Here: Don't have the stomach for this Ultra Early Access title and growing pains - Will Focus on AMS2 - Just bought the AMS2 DLC Le Mans track and having fun with the Latest ThunderFlash Mods.. This all works for me and at over 220 FPS with MSAA High. Nice to see so much excitement for Le Mans Ultimate. All the great driving sims are pushing each other.
can you share your ffb settings? game feels way off on my csl dd
Load the fanalab settings from rf2, its the same game
@@RK-io2os i did, still feels way off. i have inverted ffb turned off, but both felt bad tbh
The game won't even start for me. worse than an EA game release, which is crazy lol
Someone has to explain me: why dentist in LMP2 😅
Played for a short bit and tried at least two cars from each class, the hypercars feel so bad currently. Lmp2 feels the best right now but still needs some polish.
Hypercars need like five laps to warm up the tires in cold conditions due to the lack of tyre blankets, that they only used at Le Mans. After that they feel alot better and less like they are on ice.
@@6665hitm4k3r yeah I played a little bit more and learned that was the case
it will have VR, there are certain settings descriptions (i think in graphics but i could be remembering wrong) that mention VR and VR adjustments. its just not yet ready, which (forgive my stupidity here pls) i don't understand why it didn't come out with VR as they are re-skinning RF2 which has a functional VR mode, surely if youve used the same engine and reskinned from a fully VR ready game, it shouldn't be too hard to transfer over the VR files/setups/camera placements?? but honestly, i've enjoyed the game. ive seen quite a few bugs n problems, and the cars feel a little bit floaty and jumpy, but in my opinion, the cars handle better then forza motorsports and the ai while stupid and a bit aggressive, doesnt directly smash into you in every corner like forza motorsports did, so they definitely on the right track.
one real bad issue ive had is the ai especially at le man, like to stutter back and forth like they are desyncing and theres netcode in offline when they are going fast (so not on the slow corners but on the straights ect. so when you drive near them to get slipstream they can just stutter into your car and yeet you into the barrier.
@@thraxxxgtYou can play it in VR now. It’s really simple to do. Just Google it.
It’s barebones and is only functional in race but it’s there as a legacy from RF2. If you try it you’ll probably realise that there is much more to a good VR implementation than just being able to race in it.
I tried it this morning and enjoyed it but advanced options like supersampling just aren’t there yet.
Feels great seeing my name in the supporters section
I want the Toyota GT ONE
I think bugs are just slowly becoming part of the norm these days. Definitely not saying that “cutting corners” in the development process and having the actual users find glaring issues is the RIGHT approach to take, but the whole transition into digital downloads has changed the way these teams make their games - knowing that it doesn’t need to be perfect before it goes on the shelf. Kinda miss the days when everything just came on one disc.
Putting that aside, I’d consider giving this one a shot 😂
The problem is that having your buyers do the playtesting for you is infinitely more efficient to you as a dev than having to pay people to do it before release. Financially and time-efficiency wise it is a total no-brainer and people have mostly come to grudgingly accept this. There is no way this is gonna change anytime soon sadly.
Happy to pay the £25 to support the devs. I don't give a damn about the politics the "owners" who are temp and could just sell at any moment. I would like to support the workers who wrote this and RF2, they are the ones who matter in my opinion. RF2 is arguably the best driving sim, yes it has its foibles, this will also, but from a driving feel and physics point hopefully this will be as good if not better than RF2.
Agree 100% on this.
I have no problem reporting bugs, especially when the team is so small maybe they can't afford to have 100 QA on staff and still delivers some of the best physics and tire models in the market.
I find this stated attitude rather strange to be frank, although I fully respect your right to share your opinions. It's a commercial company making digital goods for profit and shareholders, not a charity. Sure, as sim racers we can hope for a marketplace offering a variety of quality software options to choose from. However, market forces dictate whether the sim racing landscape has that variety of sims or not. I bought the game because it's a new sim that looks interesting and I like RFactor2 but the idea of purchasing it to 'support the devs' sounds weird to me personally. Differing opinions make for debate though I guess.
@@martin-hall-northern-soulDo you like music?.. Same sort of corporate setup, but your not purchasing to support the corporate machine are you?
I do, but surely you'd only buy the album because you like the tunes and want to own the album. Let's stretch the bounds of realism and pretend that there's a significant number of people who will buy LMU just to support the devs. However, there isn't really enough demand for a standalone Lemans game long term. It's actually counterproductive for the consumers, devs and industry if the game is funded for 6 months but isn't viable medium term and then gets dropped when the cash inevitably runs out. That's a waste of time, money and expertise when they could be working on a game that's commercially viable as a product.@@fingers68
5:55 yes AI is garbage
thats why i gave negative rating to LMU
same as RF2
i can’t wait to see how this game turns out after a year or two, this game can be so much if the devs put the time in
oh, and MSG, i don’t want to support them
I didn't have high hopes after the delay, the removal of VR support and then the sudden EA release. After seeing what has been released I'm almost certain MSG and S397 are done for.
Too many complaints. It’s early access and dev/support have been great since launch.
Great game. Love it so far.
Well, GTEs are way more fun than GT3s anyways. :)
Why is this Assetto Corsa Competizione for the WEC? Is ACC the WEC game and it allows outsorcing? Is ACC the the benchmark for virtual motorsports licensed games and therefore every sim racing game should be compared to it? I really don't understand the comparison, and that's why I ask?
ACC is a SRO licensed game. It has seasons
LMU is a WEC licensed game. should have the same idea behind it.
I just think that is a poor way to define the game, comparing it to another. Each game has it's identity, besides comparing Le Mans Ultimate, which probably has the best FFB in sim racing to ACC, which probably has the worst FFB in sim racing, is a really poor analysis. But, if we analyze your approach to the content, it seems you have issues with it. Apparently you have a huge need to destroy it with your remarks @@randomcallsign
@OnWheelsTV it's a correct analogy about the format of the title. If you are reading too much about it and from that infer negatively on lmu, that's your problem and this conversation is over.
Not Porsch, PortschE. Please say the e.
It's porx
@@randomcallsign 😿😿😿
This new trend of companies selling pre-release version for full price is going to end up killing off a lot of decent games as not enough people know what early access/pre-release/beta means. Those people will see the beta they're playing as the final product, it'll get shitty reviews and be dead before the proper gold release ever comes to market. It's already happening for this game on /r/simracing
But it isn’t full price.
$31.99 for a SIM nowadays is full price, especially one this limited in content, nobody is paying modern AAA prices ($70.00) for a slightly revamped rFactor2. This is full price.
@@CrewExpendable2007 Look at the prices of other sims with the sheer amount of DLCs they offer. Yes, AC is great value in this regard. It has limited content, but they advertised like so. It is currently a slightly revamped Rfactor2 but it could be so much more.
by true definition, this isn't full price because they have already stated that EA is being sold at a lower price point and it will raise when the game releases in full. The high price (I agree that $30 is high for a EA release) I think may be correlated to the fact that this game is WEC licensed, Motorsport games had a rocky experience w/ their NASCAR series and probably need to make up the pace with LMU if they want to stay afloat. @@CrewExpendable2007
It’s £25 tight arse 😂
Refund, if i want to play le scam, i can install rf2 again
24 hrs later and the devs already fixed menu latency issues and some others like triple screen issues in the first patch.
refund, I'm not a Beta-Tester, I want fun not frustration, we do have a lot of alternates which are fine.... for me... too early access. Maybe its great in 6Month.
Surprised Pikachu face.
Different developer, but ACC was in an even worse state and it is now pretty good. The underlying physics are pretty good in LMU.
True but the parent company didn't go bankrupt. Which is what's going to happen to MSG.
@@Paolo264Yes, but if another company sees the potential in it then they might buy them. Simracing has a healthy sized community. Bandai Namco could purchase them for example.
The name of the brand ist PorschE, not Porsch.
Sorry i refund its very much buged game 😂
I had no issues playing it yesterday
Big ego and negativity.

I don’t want to be too critical however I must say this, Assetto Corsa Competizione is the perfect simulation for the most serious virtual racers out there.
But…..ffb is just not good enough.
If you look at the numbers, probably yes. But to me it feels sterile. i feel detached. I guess it's a matter of taste.
