We have been in downward trajectory in the last 5 years, but sadly the worst is not coming yet! Too many stupid uneducated voters, who voted emotionally rather than logically. Worst president ever. We have lost the opportunity to move up, instead we are moving backwards! I so envy to our Singaporean friend… they absolutely have the best person in the leadership position in PM Lawrence! Time to have a competent contracted president. A 5 year contracted very competent president, offered him/her with very attractive package, probably would be able to lead Indonesia to a better future.

As a Filipino where political dynasties rule the country, I'd like to ask our dear Indonesian neighbors to LOOK AT THE PHILIPPINES. DO YOU GUYS WANNA END UP LIKE THE PHILIPPINES? 🥲
I'm not that familiar with Indonesian politics, all I know is in terms of political dynasties you guys seem to want to compete against the Philippines 😅
I know Indonesia had Sukarno-Megawati and Suharto & son-in-law Prabowo Presidents and then President Jokowi and Vice President Gibran.
In the Philippines we had a 2 Macapagal (father-daughter), 2 Aquino (mother-son), and 2 Marcos (father-son) Presidents. We also had a President Duterte and his daughter Vice President Duterte, a President Laurel and his son Vice President Laurel.
Currently with President Marcos: his son is a Congressman, his 2 cousins are Mayors and another cousin is the Speaker of the House of Representatives while the wife of said cousin is a Congresswoman. President Marcos' sister is a Senator and the son of said sister is a Governor.
Currently our 24 person Senate has 2 sets of siblings and 1 set of parent-child Senators. Our current House of Representatives has several sets of relatives and a lot of our Representatives have relatives who are also in politics in their Provinces, Cities or Towns.
So, what I'm saying to our Indonesian friends is don't make your dynasty situation as worse as the Philippines. I admit some of them can be good leaders but there are more negatives than positives about them............and I don't know why most Filipinos keep on electing dynasties.

As an Indonesian who previously worked and lived in Singapore, I must highlight the stark contrast in political dynasties between Singapore under PM Lee Kuan Yew and President Jokowi. Lee Hsien Loong assumed Singapore's PM position 14 years after his father stepped down, during which he prepared himself through parliamentary roles and ministerial responsibilities, not to mention he took public policy degree from Harvard. Today, Singapore demonstrates a balance of dynasty (power) and meritocracy (talent) in its democracy and policy making.
In contrast, Gibran rose to Vice Presidential candidacy shortly after serving two years as Mayor of Solo while Kaesang became a party leader (PSI) without political background. President Joko Widodo and his close circle have been criticized for using their power to manipulate the constitution which worsens the already corrupted system and mentality. This imbalance prioritizes power over competence. Leadership positions in government are (as always) being filled with people lacking competence.
And yes, the country continues to grow despite decades of corruption in its system and policies, largely due to its resilient population. However, this should not be interpreted as acceptance or tolerance of a corrupt system.

Mostly chose Prabowo without really take Gibran as a major factor. He's just piggy backing Prabowo's wave. He's too young and unnecessarily pushed by Jokowi's inner circle (with his approval for sure) to join the ballot. Hopefully the country can have better candidates on the next election.

    • @dhanang
      @dhanang 10 днів тому

Nah, it was Prabowo who chose Gibran because the leaders of the coalition parties wouldn't agree on a single name coming from inside the parties themselves and it had been deadlock for months. When Gibran name was presented as an alternative, all parties agreed.
Remember, up until March 2023, Jokowi still had a plan to pair Prabowo & Ganjar as his successor by asking both to accompany him on a visit to a harvest festival in Kebumen as a symbol of support to the public/media. But that plan crumbled when Megawati announced Ganjar as presidential candidate from PDIP in April, making it impossible for him to run as the pair of Prabowo. So, Jokowi didn't even think about pushing his son to run for presidential election up until 6 months before the application day.

    The winner tells the story.
It's easy to justify privileges when you are the recipient of them. However, when you lack privileges and are trying to climb your way up, you realize how unjust the system is and how everything is rigged against you to benefit a few.
They can spin a different narrative, as this video did, making it seem beneficial for the whole country and society. But in reality, it's just a cover-up for their own self-interest.

Indonesian young people pick prabowo not because we are history ignorant..
We choose prabowo because we are pragmatic, we simply see and feel what Jokowi did and Prabowo quality as minister... we want Jokowi program to continue and we feel Indonesia is in the right track ,so we choose candidate who can continue Jokowi program.
I will not worry about "dynasty", every country have their political "dynasty" including US with bush and kennedys... as long as this people are elected and effective, why not ?

It's sounds familiar, Indonesia and the Philippines have a Political Dynasty, that's a analogy for me
In Quezon Province, Economic and Social Divide caused by a Political Dynasty making the province very weak with a political family of Enverga, Suarez, Alcala and many others until 2022 when Quezon's Political Dynasty dwindles with new politicians, however even 2022 elections, Quezon Province remained weaker than Laguna and Camarines Sur(two provinces favors Indonesia) 😊😊

It's like the Pramoj Brothers and the Shinawatras of Thailand, Jawaharlal Nehru to Indira and Rajiv, Park Chung Hee and his daughter, the Kims, the Sato-Abe connection since Nobusuke's real name is Sato until adopted by his uncle and renamed as Kishi, Hatoyama, Koizumi, Fukuda, the founder of the junta is Suu Kyi's father, Chiang Ching-Kuo.
The Philippines? It's a long list but we have the basics: Diosdado Macapagal and Gloria Arroyo, Cory Aquino and Noynoy Aquino, Fidel Ramos is the cousin of Ferdinand Marcos. (because of Angela Marcos Valdez, first cousin of Mariano, father of Ferdinand) And of course, BBM is Eddie's nephew (Fidel's nickname is Eddie) and he's Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Look at the ₱500 banknote. Cory and Ninoy with signature of Marcos. OUCH!
