In the past i worked on Maytag Washing machine model A506 and some others, i would replace the tub bearing and seal, a belt, but not very many parts and resale them. At that time the washer was around 30 years old and then I am sure it lasted a long time too. I also rebuilt Maytage, and speed queen wringer washing machines. Great stuff
Happy New Year Scout! Glad you mentioned the lantern light off. I found an old lantern at a flea market that I have a booth at. It’s what I consider a normal size. Somebody had all of their stuff 90% off which made the lantern $2. It’s not in good shape, needing a good cleanup, but when I looked at the bottom there is a hole about the size of a pencil lead in the tank. Would it still be a buy at that price and can those things be repaired? Thanks again for being the best channel on UA-cam! 🇺🇸
Hi Stan- Yes! Every part of a lantern is repairable it just depends how long you want to spend. If worse comes to worse you can always electrify it! 😃👍
Happy New Year John! 🎊 🍾🎉 2025 is going to be a great year!! What I miss about the older appliances is you could repair them over and over and parts were everywhere! Miss those days!
Enjoyed the video. 👍 See you next year. John, the bottle you showed with the bumps on it are made that way so at night if you grabbed it, you would feel the bumps and know its not for human consumption, usually some type of poison. I have several like thos in my bottle collection. Have a Jesus filled day everyone Greg in Michigan
Back in the day i knew a guy was maintenance in the laundry on nearby USAF base. After he retired it was found a piece of wood had been positioned inside the machines to deflect some coins into the casing . Imagine that guy loved doing repairs and collecting his bonuses!
What a blast of an episode John!! There were a lot of cool and interesting things, the rocks under UV and that Vapo-Cresolene were my favorites. Thanks for all the effort you put into this awesome content. Take care!!
I got my drier from the poor man's flea market about 2 years ago, it had a bad temp sensor. Just yesterday I had to put a new heating coil in it. So far that machine has cost me about $23 dollars 😂. Happy new year. Cheers
My one and only appliance story -- When I was a little kid visiting my great-grandparents in Endicott, NY, I was being baby-sat by my great-grandfather while everybody else was out somewhere. He was running a load of wash in his old wringer-washer, and at some point, in some stupid way, my hand got caught in the wringer. Of course he saved me from certain death, and for my bravery despite the lack of it, he rewarded me with a silver dollar that I still have, about 7 decades later.
What a great memory! Those wringers were definitely pinch points and many people were squeezed by them! Soon after all the manufacturers had quick release devices on all the wringers. 😃👍
Elephant Hall at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln has a huge display of rocks and minerals just like you did in 2 different lite types. Cant wait to see the "Bernz -O- Matic" I have never used mine.

@@ScoutCrafter Although it might be toxic, my friend's dad was the chemist that developed the plastic for the pins, he would give us cases of test pins to burn in our campfires, the plastic was so flammable you didn't need fire starter, we were young, my dad also loved bowlings, remember the shirts, so cool now. Good episode, John, as always.
Can’t wait to see the propane lantern lit up 👍 and I never had creamed honey either even though I have been buying lots of local honey in my travels lately but looks great 👍
I'm looking forward to the valve cut away. I would save the side of the valve with the most embossing. Believe it or not, I have about half a dozen of the vapo Cresoline lamps and a few extra chimneys. They were equilviant back in the day to the vaporizer of your youth. Happy New Year. 😄👍🏻😄
You should get a Yooperlite stones from Lake Superior. They have syenite in them. Bowling is something that people don't do any more. I will say that most of the smaller lanes you just couldn't go and play any night because they were mostly club only nights. I guess the clubs dried up and so did the bowling alleys.
The rocks under the UVC light looked great! I had no idea that they would show color when the light shined on them. Thanks for sharing this and all of your tutorials throughout 2024. Have a Happy New Year.

I was in the heating business and was a union pipefitter for years. Jenkins valves were very popular around here years ago. I fear that 2025 will be similar to 1987. Be Prepared. Do not release the mouse in CT. I get a lot of damage each year from mice. Have a Happy and Healthy New Year. Good Luck, Rick
Rick- The mouse habitat in Ct. is next to a beaver dam and had many acres of brush and wilderness. If I were a mouse I would want to be released there! 😂👍
Mark- Interesting fact- Sodium Chloride like you pointed out has no expiration date however other ingredients like iodine does- I believe the potency of iodine diminishes over time thus the expiration date. 😃👍. Last thing we need is a Goiter! 🫣😂
We still have an active bowling alley right down the street - one, where there used to be several. While the recreational fun bowlers are long gone, the serious hard-core people are still going strong. The equipment has changed - alleys and pins used to be wood, now everything is plastic - lanes are formica. Common for one player to wheel in 4 different polymer colored balls on a cart wagon - and more out in the SUV. The game is way dumbed down too - a perfect game used to be a big deal - name in the paper, maybe a new car - and a trip St. Louis. Now so common on a tuesday night as to go unnoticed - except for the guy with the microphone at the shoe counter to announce your name. Many of the better bowlers have double-digit numbers of perfect games (like over 20). I have seen 2 perfect games on the same set of lanes in the same game - nobody bats an eye. They still have a great bar and grill - $2 hot dogs and $4 cheese burgers.
@@ScoutCrafter the casual fun bowlers are gone. Only the serious and dedicated are still doing it. You still have to be good - and lucky, but they made it easier by removing some of the variables. The formica lanes are more consistent and predictable than the old wood strip flooring. The plastic or plastic coated pins are much more lively and bounce around more than old solid wood - and have smaller bases and weighted tops to make them less stable. The pit walls are coated with special bouncy rubber for lots more mixing action than the old days. Lastly, the high-tech space age plastic balls. You could never get today's amount of snap and ball spin using the original equipment. When a game is too hard for people and requires too much training, practice, or skill, they move on to something easier - like slot machines or scratch-off lotto. Tennis is too hard for most people, so they invented "pickle ball" which is extremely popular today. Kickball has replaced slo-pitch softball. just my opinion \
Thx for making the past year a little brighter, John! BTW, UV lights are so amazing! What makes the difference between the uva and uvc lights, is the uvc more expensive and/or harder to find?
Seb- The difference is in the wavelength- UVA has longer wavelengths and the UVC are shorter so different lengths react differently to certain minerals. 😃👍
Great stuff
There are lots of people looking for vintage machines today as they are repairable as you know and can last decades! 😃👍
@ScoutCrafter I so agree

@@ScoutCrafter I hope Lucky's luck holds out when you release him and he can avoid coyotes and birds of prey.
Happy New Year ❤
Funny salt doesn't have an expiration date yet ones on every salt package.
Mark- Interesting fact- Sodium Chloride like you pointed out has no expiration date however other ingredients like iodine does- I believe the potency of iodine diminishes over time thus the expiration date. 😃👍. Last thing we need is a Goiter! 🫣😂
Thanks John Happy New Year
Happy 2025!
Lucky...has to be...🖖
Happy New Year.
That cream honey looks Good!!!😊
Happy new year!
Vapo-Cresolene is great. Needs a cleanup and a new shade!
Wow! How is it that so many people can bowl a perfect game? Years ago you got a ring! Like a super bowl ring! 😂👍
Does Lucky get to try the creamed honey?
Larry- Funny thing that lucky eats a small portion of just about everything I eat. 🫣😂👍
