It's pretty cool that one motor did everything. There are other toys like that, too. Those toy makers were under so much pressure to make the toys cheap as possible, and they got pretty creative. And then at some point went crazy probably.
@@23rdwhitei own more than 10 and i've never had this happen. but i've heard it can happen because of excess energy built up inside. they are pretty old after all.
Mitchell Williams not everyone can work with electronics, even if simple in some opions. I'm one of those people. However, people who can do this stuff get to happily take advantage of our disability to work electronics lol. I commission lots of people to work on my electronics. Cody Cold you don't have to know how to work electronics. You just have to know how to surf UA-cam and EBay. UA-cam for the step-by-step tutorial and EBay for the spare parts. You can do the same with sewing and crafts. Never opened an Android before I cracked my S4 and ordered an EBay digitizer and followed instructions. Never made a plastic spoon flower til I saw it on Facebook and got a wild notion to do one just for kicks. LOL If you have the money to burn, more power to ya. But there is a certain satisfaction that comes with completing a project you do yourself.
That's require a completely new setup for the gears. There is a single motor that basically runs the entire mechanism on a loop, or opens/closes the eyes.
Very disappointing. I wanted it to talk like a Furby, not Alexa ;) Seriously though, this is why the Pi is such a great bit of kit. Love this idea, well done!
- Hey Siri, how do you make your Furby speak like Alexa? - Here’s how you do it: Watch the whole video and see how the person in it does. Okay? - Okay.
it was the scarecrow that said something arround about: "i don't have a brain, but still i can talk. but lots of people without brains do an awful lot of talking!"
Awesome!, But I hate you. I have been working on my own Pi-Zero + Furby +Digital assistant and learning electronics for months because I wanted to be the first to do this. Nothing Personal and this is awesome Buuuut I hate you for getting this done first!
What about transforming a Furby Boom into a Picroft Virtual Assistant? I'd like to do that the cheapest way possible, of course, using a Raspberry Pi the Picroft supports. Any of them.
Really nice but for next time please turn of this darn anoying audio loop that is louder than everything else and makes it nearly impossible to focus on the furlexa voice...
You should try it with Furby connect and when you say the wake word The eyes open And on the screen there’s an icon like, Alexa’s light ring, or your choice and then it talks to you;)
Someone should take a very advanced chat ai and put it in a furby. Like you know that replika app with the self learning chat AI? That, but in a furby. That would be great.
Maybe if Furlexa version can really sound like Furby when answering the instructions or whatever the version will look so pretty awesome cool and cute.
"Furby turn off the lights" "Okay, *insert your name here*" You see the lights flicker off instantly. You then hear a faint sound of gears turning mixed in with robotic laughter you can barely make out as you drift off into sleep.
Moving Parts Gaming for something that was made in 1998, that was not much of a huge problem. R.O.B the Robot was louder than this, even though that was made 1985.
I remember them being sued lol. Dec. 23, 1998 1:00 PM PST You're not alone. Lots of toy collectors (some of which are bidding more than $200 at Internet auctions for the $30-list-price Furby) thinks so. So does Gremlins producer Warner Bros., which recently sued Hasbro for trademark infringement.
I thought I would attempt to contact you through youtube comments but I doubt you check on them anymore, but your link to your guide actually doesn't redirect to projects page, and it seems your page actually glitches and doesn't go past page 1. I would love to see the full teardown and process because I am hoping to start my own project soon. Thanks!
3:26 After watching the whole video, a self immolating (by fire) on command furby seems interesting at least design and building wise. It could just set itself a light or just go bang if you really want but what if instead it just turns into a ball of fire and could go out again. Fantastic 4’s human torch but as/it’s a furby.
Note for those who see this comment: I modified Zach's tip by placing the 'do not disturb' in the place of Siri, cuz it's not a disruptive button for me (since i keep all those kind of notifications shut off anyway) :)
This video is amazing. If I’m going to do this, I want to modify the motor to only move his mouth to make it more realistic although I would lose out on the eyes and ears moving when Alexa is triggered for a few seconds.
Good call! You can definitely do that with some clever programming and either a) swapping out the stock DC motor for a stepper motor, or b) using the cam position sensor to determine where the gearbox currently is.Totally possible, but would've taken more time than I had (especially after how much time I already spent on it).
My son loves Tattletale but didn't know what a Furby was. Been years since I saw one so was surfing and ended up here. 🤣🤣🤣 It really would be cooler if it had a more Furby sounding voice.
This is honestly amazing! Having had a Furby as a young child, it'd be so cool to have one of these myself! One problem, I can't work with electronics ;-;.
I'm going to give this a go, jut ordered the Furby! Any new additions/modifications since first making this? Also, and words of advice on how I can make it extra creepy and adding an LED to each eye when Furby first wakes up or talks maybe?
Good video, but please do not burn furbies. They are good boys.
Moggie Delight why not?
They are good boys.
Moggie Delight And good girls. Furbys can be girls too.
couldnt agree more n V n Furbies are good boys, girls, and everything in-between!
TRIGGERED, HOW DARE YOU NOT MENTION HERMAPHRODITES
I was here before Furby's took over the planet. The year is 2078 and furby's now have turned the tables and have humans as Alexa's.
GatorsFishchannel lolll come to save us from the future
Is there anything we can do to stop this madness?
im here years after that.
you guys need to rely on the ocean more often, man...
Oh no, i'm getting a Furby Boom soon... Will these take over the world too?
@@kerakn_ I'm here after that..... You people need to obey these more often......they have arms now....
It's pretty cool that one motor did everything. There are other toys like that, too. Those toy makers were under so much pressure to make the toys cheap as possible, and they got pretty creative. And then at some point went crazy probably.
well, its a tiger electronics product so those designers and engineers went crazy long ago in the pursuit of cheapness
The 2006 and 2007 baby alive runs the mouth and eyes with a single motor too
Nice! could use a quieter motor, maybe tweak the lip flap to get it closer to the uncanny valley
Its not the motor, its all the gears that move the face
That's actually pretty cool. Would be cooler if it still did furby stuff. Also, goddam those actuators are loud.
like hanging upside down, eyes stare you down no matter where you at, run & talk when out of batteries. yeah no thank you.
@@23rdwhitei own more than 10 and i've never had this happen. but i've heard it can happen because of excess energy built up inside. they are pretty old after all.
Take all my money and give me that Furlexa!!!

Just make one..it will mean more
I can take your money but can’t give you the furbi

This would be a good product actually.
Good for what?
Good for nightmares?
The next generation of Furbies should be like this!
I need one of these in my life
Actually a guy did hack a Furby connect, the last generation of Furbies
That is such a cool mod. I want to make one now!
nobble wow
You forgot the words:creation,idea,machine etc
So you used mod
Chez Pig mod, modification or modified, -.-
I would wholeheartedly buy one for every room in my house, PLEASE make them available!
Awesome project!!! Please put a voice transformer on the voice! That Alexa voice is not suitable for a cute little Furby.
FuzzyWobble Yes!
I think it would be so funny if instead it had a super super deep demon voice
FuzzyWobble this
That's require a completely new setup for the gears. There is a single motor that basically runs the entire mechanism on a loop, or opens/closes the eyes.
CREEPY
Very disappointing. I wanted it to talk like a Furby, not Alexa ;) Seriously though, this is why the Pi is such a great bit of kit. Love this idea, well done!
I literally searched for a tutorial for this and found one of how to do it. THANK YOU!
I'm too dumb to make this myself
Can I buy one from you for $100?
Other then the noisy movements and muzzled voice that is really awesome!
I used to think that going inside furbies that were working fine just ruined them. Until I saw this. I’m a big furby fan, and this is so cool!
- Hey Siri, how do you make your Furby speak like Alexa?

- Okay.
Tin Min wanted a heart not a brain.
Gregn604 Whoops, there goes my Wizard of Oz knowledge!
it was the scarecrow that said something arround about: "i don't have a brain, but still i can talk. but lots of people without brains do an awful lot of talking!"
It is a cool video, but the background music overpowers the Furlexa, when it talks.
tequilabrad Thanks for the feedback! We’ll pay more attention to this in our next video.
"It's 69 degrees and cloudy skies."
Nice.
WANT. WANT. WANT
*WANT*
Nice Simpsons reference
224 like
no.... NEED

Oh my gosh!! This is so cool, you should sell it in the store!! I would love to have one of those if I could
Awesome!, But I hate you. I have been working on my own Pi-Zero + Furby +Digital assistant and learning electronics for months because I wanted to be the first to do this.
Nothing Personal and this is awesome
Buuuut I hate you for getting this done first!
"The original furbies couldn't spy on you... so I fixed that!"
Love it. Greetings from Brandon FL! Thanks for posting. My furbies send their regards. Lol
I love Furbies. Now this I want!
However, it would be cooler if the thing between it's eyes lit up when you asked it questions.
I was looking specifically for this, and I found it, fantastic.
Imagine you’re watching a movie and the lights turn off and then furlexa is just waiting behind you
Those furbys without fur look like endoskeletons xd
The skynet reference was a good one
This was awesome! Subscribed!
The two best electronic supposed electronic spies now fused together!
Paz Costa del Rio you didn't need to say electronic twice just so you know
+carolyn mmitchell oh...i was sleeping when wrote that...
considering i have an unreasonable amount of furbies i could do this with time and patience and just have furbies all around the house
Definitely have it so the eyes open when it hears it's wake word and it listening and then it's mouth moves when it's speaking.
What have you done!?! You have given Evil a new voice! And made it smarter too...
shoulda just called it flexa
Sounds like it goes to the gym a lot.
Damn that furby must of been FLEXaING on others
What about transforming a Furby Boom into a Picroft Virtual Assistant?
I'd like to do that the cheapest way possible, of course, using a Raspberry Pi the Picroft supports. Any of them.
The mouth being out of sync kinda bugs me, but still love it
Dude when you said what a furby is to furlexa my Alexa started telling me what one is lol
Strong hatchetfield vibes, super cool!
i love this so much this needs to be something that you can buy in stores
ok i was not expecting s burning furby that made me cry
Sorry. But let it be known that Furby did not die in vain, but to advance science as we know it.
howchoo thank you furbies are to be worshipped
Alt title: a furby becomes big brain
It would be cool if you could synch the movement with the speech
It should have an alexa themed fur with an alexa symbol on the belly.
Really nice but for next time please turn of this darn anoying audio loop that is louder than everything else and makes it nearly impossible to focus on the furlexa voice...
You can solder phone batteries to fit underneath
You should make the ears perk up when you say it's name so you know if it heard you
You should try it with Furby connect and when you say the wake word The eyes open And on the screen there’s an icon like, Alexa’s light ring, or your choice and then it talks to you;)
That's a great idea! :p
Someone's going market this watch..
Someone should take a very advanced chat ai and put it in a furby. Like you know that replika app with the self learning chat AI? That, but in a furby. That would be great.
I love this idea. But they should also replace the AI voice with a cuter one lol
The servos are louder than the voice.. x,D but nice idea!
that would be the kind of voice assent that furby fans would like
Maybe if Furlexa version can really sound like Furby when answering the instructions or whatever the version will look so pretty awesome cool and cute.
"Furby turn off the lights" "Okay, *insert your name here*" You see the lights flicker off instantly. You then hear a faint sound of gears turning mixed in with robotic laughter you can barely make out as you drift off into sleep.
This is cursed. Thank you for this abomination.
My favorite part is the Furby burning to death in that fire pit.
this is amazingly terrifying. this power is alot for 1 man to handle.
Too bad the servos drown out everything it says...
Moving Parts Gaming for something that was made in 1998, that was not much of a huge problem. R.O.B the Robot was louder than this, even though that was made 1985.
i have a alexa in my room, the example at the beginning triggered it and started talking xD

Try doing this with the Furby Boom model next. The eyes being lights, it has much more potential.
You should do this with the furby connect that would be something else

This is great but I feel you should have sound proofed the mechanical parts so you could actually hear Alexa
That is so cool! I want one of those. That should be a real thing in stores. I would buy it.

Glad we could help! 😀 On both fronts.

I'd love this project on a long furby or oddbody furby!
Dr Blankenstein approves! Well done
You really deserve the gold button, too ❤❤ Your work is really great und should have MILLIONS of fans.
Hey thanks for this! I bet I can easily make a power bank mini backpack to take furlexa out drinking with me
This is the kind of project I like. I think I'm going to make one and just get Alexa to play Thrash Metal on a loop.
Think you could upgrade everything else, like the motor and such so it can "talk" in a smoother without the annoying noise?
Furlexa looks cuter with her fur. MUCH cuter
This furby knows too much now... *lights a flamethrower *
Why is something like this not actually manufactured and sold in stored today?!
I love it !!! Just wish that furby motor was not so loud lol it almost overpowers the voice

you could make so much money with this.
I would have a furlexa. I could use it to creep my friends and family out.
THAT FURBY TURNING ON THE LIGHTS IS ACTUALLY PRETTY FUCKING SCARY
Anyway the furbies motors and gears could be quieted down with newer quiet ones?
I would like to see you do the same with a modern Furby.
This makes me wanna learn more about technology and electronics. I wanna mess around with that kind of stuff as well. All the possibilities 💲
I have yet to see one that's movement is synced up with the sound though
This is honestly amazing! Having had a Furby as a young child, it'd be so cool to have one of these myself! One problem, I can't work with electronics ;-;.
At 4:20 what is that swing away black arm on the left side of screen at eye level? Is it a tablet holder or led light?
Sykokiller That’s a tablet mount for doing overhead shots for videos :) Which are usually the majority of our videos.
I'm going to give this a go, jut ordered the Furby! Any new additions/modifications since first making this? Also, and words of advice on how I can make it extra creepy and adding an LED to each eye when Furby first wakes up or talks maybe?
Awesome work. One small fact check, the Tin Man needed a heart. The Scarecrow needed a brain.
Would build with the furby I have but the gears are so damn loud and I do not want to pay to change them out
Burn Furbies : Not epic.
Turn a Furby into Alexa : *approved*
Ngl I'd buy this. If they did a gen like this I'd be down.
“Huzzah! Here’s a smart furby!”
So cool! How did you get it to use a custom wake word like "furlexa"?
Needs to do this with the newer models
Can you do one for the new furbies???
Could you make a guide on how to build one?
I wrote a step-by-step guide on how to build one (see the video description)-it's pretty detailed but is definitely an involved process.
is it possible to take a transparent digital clock put alexa in it with jarvis voice and have a jarvis clock being displayed??????????
