We did the average touristy, kitsch bus tour of Ireland, 15 years ago, and in a town called Auburn I bought a tin whistle (booklet and CD). A little more than a year later, my wife's physical health dived rapidly, in short, and some time after that we were in a dire financial situation. I took to learning how to play the tin whistle (thanks to book and CD). I have been a musician since childhood, and thankfully it wasn't too difficult to master (- my wife would beg to differ, but let's not dwell on that one). I went busking on the streets of Sydney for seven years with the tin whistle. We're no longer in the difficult financial times that we were. Some of these tunes are the ones that I played on the street. Tough times. Fond memories. Blessings from Australia 🇦🇺

Many Irish men became mercenaries and there were entire units in the Spanish Army made up of Irishmen. More than likely one of the Irish soldiers in the Spanish Army married a local woman and you and your father are their descendants. Bernardo O'Huggins, considered "The George Washington of Chile" who led the rebellion against the Spanish in 1812 was the son of a Chilean woman and an Irish mercenary.

Listening to this on a chilly fall morning while "surfing" UA-cam. This is music that warms me by suggestion: I think of being in a friendly pub, nursing a whiskey, and just loving the music! Adding to my Irish Music playlist, which I'll run during the Christmas holidays, and especially on St. Patrick's Day.
I sure miss Irish step dancing, especially heavy shoe. My favorite was The Blackbird. So now that I'm too old for it (and it ruined my feet) I am content to listen to all Irish music.
My fear is that the youth of Ireland has forgotten all the sacrifices and all the dead that fought to free our Country. Millions have died by the funking English. Never forget.
Yeah you liberated yourselves from the English, only to now be colonized by the Pakistanis and the Nigerians instead. Wow, what a victory. But keep talking shit about what the Brits did 100 years ago. Because that's easier than ACTUALLY standing up for Ireland.
I love Irish music. DId not understand why until I got my DNA results. My Dad used to play the piano with the songs and I would sing so thank you for the memories.
@@Wowatman It is in honor of some of my ancestors who fought against the Yankee's who invaded their land, burned their homes and stole what they wanted . Only about 10% of Southreners owned slaves, so the war was not fought to keep that evil practice of owning another human, it was fought for States rights.
Stop lying. Your ancestors were traitors and absolutely fought to maintain slavery. The confederate constitution is still at the UGA and clearly states as such. The south had the same rights as the north EXCEPT the right to maintain slavery and even tho only 1% had slaves they knew what they were fighting for. And your crying about sherman burning down the south but wont mention how union soldiers were treated in southern prisoner camp. Yankee pride , Go Buckeyes!!!!!

Yeah the Irish then and now we’re everywhere pretty much. Che Guevarra had Irish blood, of course theres the San Patricio brigade
More likely could be traced to one of the many shipwrecks all along the coasts over many decades.
@@dbpgh Didn't know that

My wife Liz's fav!
I like irish people and irish music!
Thirteen years ago, I drank a Mandarin orange vodka cocktail, at the Republican bar, where I met some relatives.
My mother & 4 grandparents are all from Donegal, I was born in Greenock, Scotland. Die hard rebel & Celtic fan, just wish Davie Arthur & Dubliners, would acknowledge Eric Bogle, a Scot, wrote Green Fields of France
I married a beauty from Ballinasloe for close to 40 years. Me and the boys think of her all the time.
Fantastic compilation 😊❤👍🇬🇧🇬🇧

Listening to this while visiting my son and his family in Australia. He's a wandering Derry boy too. And he did it for love as well ❤❤❤❤❤
I sure miss Irish step dancing, especially heavy shoe. My favorite was The Blackbird. So now that I'm too old for it (and it ruined my feet) I am content to listen to all Irish music.
Im german but I love this music 💕💕💕💕
I miss this Country
My fear is that the youth of Ireland has forgotten all the sacrifices and all the dead that fought to free our Country. Millions have died by the funking English. Never forget.
Yeah you liberated yourselves from the English, only to now be colonized by the Pakistanis and the Nigerians instead. Wow, what a victory. But keep talking shit about what the Brits did 100 years ago. Because that's easier than ACTUALLY standing up for Ireland.
@@GrantDWilliams82i agree with you.
I love Irish music. DId not understand why until I got my DNA results. My Dad used to play the piano with the songs and I would sing so thank you for the memories.
Una Finlayson . That name is truly Celtic . Both Irish and Scots.
@@spmoran4703 Thank you. :-) I love both Scottish and Irish music. :-)
A wonderful collection. I could listen to this type of music for hours. Thanks for uploading.👍👍✌
Your profile picture is odd
I hope you don't agree with that flag
Amen!@Westfalenn
