- What's the lore of Flumpty? Short answer: there is none. Long answer is this video.
I've received a lot of questions about the ONAF universe from fans, and I wanted to provide a definitive answer (or non-answer) to most of those questions with this video.

I thought the fact that Flumpty is the most over powered character meant the only piece of lore is that Flumpty can do whatever he wants.

My interpretation was always that Flumpty subscribed to cartoon logic(ie Bugs Bunny) and reality is basically whatever was decided at the moment. This made it even more scary as can you imagine the cartoon antics of Bugs as a killer?

Flumpty is Jesus and he came back on Earth to commence The Rapture. It is all BBB's fault because he wished for Flumpty to be real on his birthday and he just spawned in.
Yeah, I think he just made all the new characters in onaf just to have fun with his victims, and then just added and killed the characters as he pleased.

About the Cancellation of Flumpty.
Honestly, Your riddle school franchise was amazing and when I found out you were the guy who actually did that, I stopped thinking of you as just "That one guy who made Flumpty's".

Jonochrome you still underplay yourself. The reason everyone's still talking about Onaf is that you're genuinely a good game designer and we love the characters you make cuss they're full of spunk and personality, along with the mechanics of the game just being super good. I really wish you'd stop selling yourself short cuss you got the skills and ability to make memorable stuff :)

Mr. Zamboni indeed, the game is pretty damn Immortal in every regard. I have enjoyed playing these more than I do any of the games they’re parodying. Very stupid, extremely well-made fun that still kind of inspires me today. I remember being super bummed that they were off of Gamejolt because of how exhausted Jonochrome was, but apparently they’re back on there so that’s a huge plus (and then I remembered I don’t own a windows device anymore lol)

Kinda sad that you had to make this. At one point in my life I was a doofus and asked you if I could ever continue the franchise. I learned after like a week that I shouldn't. This whole thing is just one big yolk. Doesn't need a plot, doesn't need any lore, it's just friends having fun (you and your friend, not Flumpty and Blam, those... those 2 are beyond bonding). That's why One Night at Flumpty's is my favorite fangame series for Fnaf. It has the best story (or in this case, a lack of one).

The fact that there is no story is what makes them great. The weird sense of there being an alien logic connecting everything that you could never uncover or understand gives them a uniquely surreal sense of horror that you don't see that often. Wish there were more horror games out there that didn't explain anything or even make it possible for there to be an explanation for anything.
It just helps selling more the idea of how powerful and otherwordly Flumpty is
I've always been fine with the One Night at Flumpty's series being a goofy parody. I never really cared for knowing answers in the "lore", I just though: How wacky! Five Nights at Freddy's with an _EGG!_

Personally I love Dayshift at Freddy's but One night at Flumpty's from a gameplay perspective is one of the best if not THE best fangames.

Cris Fox The two other games still exist, just because he cancelled a third continuation doesn’t mean that he can’t talk about the other two games especially if people are want him too.
I really hope people badgering Jono isn't holding him back from doing other projects. Pigeonholing any kind of artist is the surest way to strangle their creativity, and man do I hate seeing that. I've been through long periods where my creative ambitions were stopped dead, right now I thankfully have them back so I intend to go as much as I can, hopefully getting something worthwhile done before it leaves me. I'm sorry, I don't know why I left this comment.

We can just say that Grunfus the Clown is there because of Birthday Boy Blam’s birthday party, he had a friend that drank lava and lived, Flumpty made a gift for Blam which was the eyesaur, The Beaver and his best friend Owl were looking for a nearby toilet and urinal, and Flumpty’s grandpa’s ghost came to haunt them for no reason, years later Redman dared the Owl to eat a urinal and he choked on it, and then Flumpty was like “Oh boy! Time to bring back the best friends and make them more than just that.
I think the final message being "The answers are your fiction" is really powerful.
I honestly don't think you'll see this but, thank you so much for making this game. It inspiers me to do the same, and the way One Night At Flumpty's looks is stunning. Sure it might be a completely joke type of game buf it still has a lot of charm and it will always be one of my favorite fan games of all time. Thank you JonoChrome.

If One Night at Flumpty’s had any lore, i’d expect it to be some bizarre anime plot with friendship involved in it.

This game will always be my favorite. It’s just one of those things we’re you just wonder and question something that never has and never will have an answer. It’s literally up to what the fans see in the games themselves. I’ve been a huge fan of you’re work since I played the whole ‘Riddle School’ series. I can’t wait to see what you’ll make in the future, whether it’s an animation or game!

Honestly, your "no lore" approach to game design is probably my favorite game design choice I've seen in a while. It may not be as practical to use with other kinds of games, but abstract art is muh jam. You do you.
To be honest, back when ONAF2 was still big, what I always wanted, instead of like, "BIG LOAR GAME BIG ENDING TO BIG SERIES YES", was just, more Flumpty in general. Hearing about the origins of Flumpty as a comic series and seeing the surviving pieces was great. It was the kind of usage of the characters that I expected out of this rogues gallery of whatever. I like the whole idea of a higher power meta egg man, a square eternal birthday boy straightman, his dapper kinda future self that collects hats that also wants to kill him no matter how much of a paradox it is, and the band of other monstrous weirdos. I like how most of the plot's "depth" includes finding someone's "sense of direction" represented by a giant cartoon arrow. Good horror is one thing and so is good gameplay, but damn did always like the whole concept of Flumpty. It's the kind of humor I like.
The TL;DR of all Flumpty games is: "Flumpty was bored", that's really as far as any explanation or "lore" goes.
This is exactly what I hoped for when I clicked on this video. As cool as it is when someone creates a game to say something or to make something with a deeper meaning or story, it’s always really nice to see a game made because the creator was just passionate about making it and nothing more. I’ve always respected the Flumpty games for that, and they inspire me sometimes to do the same :)
I kinda like the dynamic of the dev trying to make the most nonsensical story ever, and the fans trying to make sense of it. It's silly and chaotic and I love it.
To me Flumpty's lore is tied to the context of our existence. As in, the "story" and reason for flumpty is very literal; that he's a cartoon figure, made by you, and here I am playing the game made by you, with flumpty who can and will do whatever he wants in this context.
My suspension of disbelief playing the nights is more akin to "what if I was really and truly was somehow dragged into the chaos and uncertainty of this lore-less no-reason cartoon".
And it's a nightmare, and it's exciting, it's brilliant.

I love ONAF to this day BECAUSE of the mechanics, and the silly nature. I feel like the fact that there's only two, makes it even more unique. You didn't go for the "listen to the followers and make 69 more sequels" approach, you did what you wanted!
I think Flumpty is stupid and funny as all hell, and my favorite character has to be the Red Men from the looks. I'm glad you haven't fallen into making more sequels because "its what the fans wanted" and I'm glad the games exist to begin with!

Honestly man, this is completely respectable. If anything, I just want to see more funny animations/sketches with Flumpty and Blam. They always make me laugh and really that's all that matters to me.
Hell, even then, I just want to see what else you create. Can't Food was brilliant and you are obviously a very gifted game designer. At the end of the day, what you do is in your hands, not ours.
I think people love your series so much just cuz the characters are honestly really fun and funny. Honestly another little comic series starring Blam and Flumpty like in those animations would be nice. At least, that’s how I feel.
Is something going on with youtube I've had multiple of the channels I've been subscribed to get hacked like this (you know everything gone and some space x live stream the only thing available) just in these past 4 or so months this has all been happening over and over again in quick sucession.

I've never been into FNAF, though I do respect Scott for the work he's put into them, but this video almost peaked my interest into your game. It seems silly and just a fun weird game.

As much as I enjoy media that has an ongoing plot with story and character arcs, ONAF is one of my favorite FNAF fan games of all time. Having to worry about the threat of death by egg instead of trying to wrap your head around the potential story is a nice change of pace.

You just make these likable characters with just a small bit of backstory so it makes me and others want to explore things like their group dynamic.
I feel as if these games are a important lesson. You aren’t owed clarity, especially at the cost of the author’s vision. Flumpty might never live up to your expectations in the end but you must choose what it means to you without forcing them on the material. In my opinion this game was something that you just can’t discredit and I really appreciate this game.

I didn't even find this channel through ONAF, I found it through Cant Food, which is the best thing ever btw, then I was like "oh this guy also made flumpty's, thats pretty cool". I think that it fits perfectly with the game to not have lore, its great XD.

I love that there isn’t a definitive lore because like you said we get to creat our own fiction surrounding the characters, and I always find that enjoyable :)

Honestly making ‘stories’ without a ‘story’ or ‘lore’ to it is extremely fun. Just randomly adding to things is better than struggling to make sense of things. Especially if people demand of you to make sense of such things.
Ex: A bunny shit out an egg and the egg cracked open immediately revealing Obama. Obama then met with his homie Hulk Hogan and they flew to the moon. Sadly on their departure, purple guy fucking died by being launched into a black hole by a group of garden gnomes. Obama and Hogan enjoyed some cake and twister on the moon whilst glancing at the night sky full of the casted remains that which Purple mans corpse spreads across space.
Let's just say that flumpty is a god.
The jump scare for Birthday Boy Blam in ONAF 1 is the worst thing for people with that phobia of bunches of holes
Expanding on the retcon point, I think that if you do end up changing your mind, I'd say completely reboot and rebuild a story around these base characters that you already have. Completely disregard ideas that could've led somewhere and just make new ones if you do decide that you want to. BUT that's ultimately up to you, and I wish you luck in whatever your decide to do
