Our music teacher Teacher Lourdes taught our class this song playing with great gusto on the school piano. I was grade 6 then. Now I am over 50. This song lifted us off our feet then and it lifts me up even now. My music teacher passed on yesterday. May she be welcomed into the arms of her Creator with music, song and dance saying "Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into your eternal reward." Teacher Lourdes, RIP..Rejoice In Paradise. I was telling co workers about playing this song at a piano recital when I was a kid... I googled it and couldn't believe it was on UA-cam! I'm not sure they believed me til I found this... Awesome!

WOW, it is a Czech folk song! My Grandad used to play piano and sing this song. Unfortunately I do not remember the original words. What I remember is that the song is about a soldier who learned to polish his shoes and when he learned that he will learn to love girls. And the "stodola pumpa..." ended with the word "machinkvehr" which is a colloquial word of German origin for a machine gun in Czech. Stodola means barn, pumpa means pump in Czech.
