I miss listening to these classic Christmas carols: "Good King Wenceslas," "O Tannenbaum," "We Three Kings," "I Saw Three Ships," and "Here We Come A Wassailing." You just don't hear them as much anymore.
Me too. I just got cast in A Christmas Carol for the 5th time as Scrooge. I love Christmas because there was a time when it was the saddest times of the year for me. I have a family now and I'm very happy at Christmas because I have people to share it with. Merry Christmas!
This is the first version of this song I've ever really loved! I've always thought this song was fine, pretty, but not one of my favorites. This version, however, was wonderful! So happy and fun!
Here We Come A-wassailing Christmas Carol 1. Here we come a-wassailing Among the leaves so green; Here we come a-wand'ring So fair to be seen. (Chorus) Love and joy come to you, And to you your wassail too; And God bless you And send you a Happy New Year And God send you a Happy New Year. 2. Our wassail cup is made Of the rosemary tree, And so is your beer Of the best barley. (Chorus) 3. We are not daily beggars That beg from door to door; But we are neighbours' children, Whom you have seen before. (Chorus) 4. Call up the butler of this house, Put on his golden ring. Let him bring us up a glass of beer, And better we shall sing. (Chorus) 5. We have got a little purse Of stretching leather skin; We want a little of your money To line it well within. (Chorus) 6. Bring us out a table And spread it with a cloth; Bring us out a mouldy cheese, And some of your Christmas loaf. (Chorus) 7. God bless the master of this house Likewise the mistress too, And all the little children That round the table go. (Chorus) 8. Good master and good mistress, While you're sitting by the fire, Pray think of us poor children Who are wandering in the mire. (Chorus)
And for Solstice Christmas 2021~Did you ever think we'd still be in the middle of this madness a year later? I thought we'd be vaccinating our way out of 'crazy.'
I’m gonna be doing a Christmas thing at a church in a couple of days and this is gonna be one of the that we’re gonna be singing! Wish us luck! Oh and also the line that the blonde lady sings is not in the lyrics that weird using!?...
I am here because i read lisa kleypas wallflowers christmas book where hannah appleton sings this song and rafe bowman gasps (while decorating the christmas tree)..i need to know what song.. i imagine hannah's voice like the woman in blue dress.. sweet! Sweet story too! Dont know why..i just need to share. Im such a loquacious person writer ..pardon me
So, if "wassail" is something like "ale" or "beer", could "wassaling" be something like "cheleando" in spanish spoken by mexicans? The spanish word for "beer" is "cerveza", but we call it in a fun way "chela"... Hope you can help me... Have a nice 2017!
Wassail actually comes from the Anglo Saxon phrase 'waes hael', meaning 'good health'. And there was a wassail drink made from mulled ale, curdled cream, roasted apples, eggs, cloves, ginger, nutmeg and sugar.
Since it's Orla's show there'd be no reason to list her name lol. Unless someone didn't know that this video was a part of "Orla Fallon's Celtic Christmas Special".
Pity half the lyrics were left out of this performance. The idea of wassailing is a drink and toast to Christmas and the New Year. Yet the drinking verses are missing here
THIS SONG SHOULD BE BUMPED UP TO BE THE USA AMERICAN NATIONAL ANTHEM SONG This song is all about begging rich people to give to vagabonds, bums, and good for nothings. Here's why: One of the verses says "We are not daily beggars that beg from door to door; But we are neighbours' children, Whom you have seen before. . Another verse says "We have got a little purse Of stretching leather skin;We want a little of your money To line it well within.. So in essence, we're not beggars, but can we have your money for singing in front of your door? Wikipedia says "the Christmas spirit often made the rich a little more generous than usual, and bands of beggars and orphans used to dance their way through the snowy streets of England, offering to sing good cheer and to tell good fortune if the householder would give them a drink from his wassail bowl or a penny or a pork pie or, let them stand for a few minutes beside the warmth of his hearth. The wassail bowl itself was a hearty combination of hot ale or beer, apples, spices and mead, just alcoholic enough to warm tingling toes and fingers of the singers" Well now we have 1/3 of the entire nation getting gov $ for doing nothing all day. So this song might as well become the American National Anthem!
The song isn't supposed to be a Christmas carol, it's a yuletide carol and it has roots in paganism and replacing "wassail" with "Christmas" is kind of appropriative

Completely agree.
Crazy thing is I still sing this song all the time

Such a happy version. It's only August but as usual my family is gearing up for the 12 days. Thank you for this rendition.
This is a great upbeat rendition of the song... full of energy and joy as it should be

There are lots of versions of this song and the lyric 'A little silver sixpence would line it well within' is common.

buena music
Why are the lyrics different? :/
+Trent Campbell The lyrics of old Christmas/holiday carols tend to vary over time, from one region to another, from one country to another, etc.
Who is the fourth person?
Mark Wills
Orla Fallon
Orla was the first person.
I assumed he/she meant the fourth person who's name was unlisted
Since it's Orla's show there'd be no reason to list her name lol. Unless someone didn't know that this video was a part of "Orla Fallon's Celtic Christmas Special".
nom
I wonder, are any of the people in this group related?
Orla and Meav are from the group Celtic Women.
i like it but it is diffrent then the one i know.
Joel's Christong. I love it, it's a freaking drinking song! Lmao!
Joel Bunker I thought it was a Christmas kids song
isn't it supposed to be wassling
Who are you calling a wassailing?
Wassling? Only if you're a Yank.
Is this Irish?
Pity half the lyrics were left out of this performance. The idea of wassailing is a drink and toast to Christmas and the New Year. Yet the drinking verses are missing here
Not one fucking person can answer what those people sang at 1:28
"We have a little purse made of ratching leather skin; we want a little change [which?] to line it well within. Love and joy come to you..."
I couldn't understand the word between "change" & "to line it well within". I took a guess there.
Lizfan2 now that I read what you said, that is all I hear, but, thank you
@@Lizfan2 We want a little sixpence
Curt D now because of me reading what you said, I heard it
Is this , CELTIC WOMAN?
Orla and Meav
Celtic woman
.........
Are they lip syncing?
I don't know
The balance is off, shame.
I wish Nicki Minaj and Cardi B were performing in this video
Why do American singers change the lyrics ?
Because they are American. It's what they do.
2024. Vote for Anthony john Galindo for the president of the United States!

It's a terrorist org

Cultures change over time. What you call “appropriation” I call multi-culturalism. You’re not a victim.
