It’s a track saw. They’re expensive but if you do a lot of ripping large sheets of plywood etc, they’re worth it. You can also find lots of plans/ideas for circular saw tracks that you can build for your circular saw and a few companies make attachments for this purpose. Kreg has one for $45-50 with a decent width expansion but if you need to cut a section wider than 14” it won’t work, so a diy system is a lot more versatile.

Awesome, but I would have put a hinge on one of the panels. In that way, you would also have had an internal compartment; perhaps with some shelves.

Probably and more stronger too. A wee bit heavier too but if you're ok with that then it should work.
What is that sweet dustless cutting system you're using? How does the straight-edge not move when you position it?

All these DIYs are amazing, but the tools required...ugh. I'd love to see a DIY video for this project using only a jigsaw, a sander and a drill.

That’s what the plans are for. I get what you mean, though. Videos with no voiceover aren’t my favorite when it comes to stuff like this.
