Basically Greenfell tower is an extremely poor area of London that just happens to be within one of the richest areas of the City the building exterior was renovated because the wealthy areas that surround it considered it an eyesore, they used the cheapest material allowed (non fireproof cladding) to save money. The buildings fire codes were not updated to reflect this building, residents of the building had been complaing about this potential fire hazard for over 3 years. They have still not had any justice, the government and the local council have been trying to blame the fire brigade, but the reality is that over the last 10 years the rightwing conservative government in the UK had massively cut budgets to public services including the fire brigade, furthermore the conservative government swore they'd rehouse the survivors and still havn't rehoused all of them years later. To compound the insanity the project manager who over saw the construction wasn't qualified he was just the son of the owner of the company, and yet noone's gone to jail, noone has even been charged. Still gives me the rage everytime. Check out part 2 And whilst your at it, Lowkey Ahmed :)
It was painful to watch, even now. My sister was part of the people who was allocating money to the survivors...which was hard for her. The stories of the victims... horrific! But what was more horrifying was that you had chancers trying to steal with their BS stories committing fraud; taking from those who didn't have, like a reverse Robin Hood. It really took its toll on my sister. She had to leave, but she never shook it off. Still dealing. These governments, they truly sicken me!
Also to add, because I didn’t see it in any of the comments, that space under the road where they stood while mentioning all the names of the “missing” is where the survivors were left sleeping for 10 days before they were housed to unsuitable emergency accommodation
These people were missing 6 weeks after the fire. Many were not recovered so their families had no bodies to bury. The building still stands bearing down on the community as a mass grave.
There was a catalogue of corruption at pretty much all levels of government. From the local council who cut costs, to the cladding manufacturers who lied about fire testing, even to national government who initially refused to remove the cladding from other blocks, and to this day, still refuse to install sprinklers in them. As well as the highly flammable cladding installed just to make the building look pretty in the London skyline, there weren't any sprinklers, fire extinguishers were never serviced and didn't work, fire doors weren't up to code, etc. Even the fire brigade didn't have an engine with a ladder tall enough to effectively fight the fire due to budget cuts, one had to be brought in from hours away. BTW, Lowkey lived almost next door to Grenfell Tower, and witnessed the fire first hand.
Awesome reaction 🙌 Basically Grenfell tower was for social housing for the poorest people in the borough of Kensington and Chelsea which ironically the richest borough in London and where many rich and well off people live. The council which had plenty of funds decided to keep the rich people happy to renovate the buildings so it wasn’t an eye sore for them. However instead of doing it properly they used a private company. The private company and the council cut corners and fire regulations and used very cheap material which was highly flammable to save cash ... in the richest borough in London. The residents for ages had claimed it wasn’t safe. And they needed a sprinkler system put in and better access to the building for fire engines. But were ignored. In one report from the lead resident before the fire said “it will take a tragic incident for you to listen” In the enquiry that’s going on now it’s come to light via emails etc that the private company and council cut corners and even destroyed evidence to prove that they were innocent. Fire was so fierce it took a while to identify peoples remains hence the “missing” thing and the residents claim more people were in than the 70+ remains found due to it being social housing and people had more people living in the flats than should of been due to being so poor.
When you see the documentaries on it, it will tear you apart. You could hear the screams of men, women and children being burned to death for greed if men who are still breathing walking free...YAH judge them!!!! I just can't, even today.
Lowkey lived across the street from the towers. He was one of the many unfortunate ppl nearby who watched it happen. Tragedy literally right unfolding right infront of their eyes. RIP to all the victims and stay strong anyone who has lost someone in this disaster 💪 They may be gone but they will never be forgotten 💙
Others have covered the controversy, but I echo the Lowkey- Ahmed suggestion. Just prepare yourself, I'm sure your viewers will provide the needed context afterwards. Best of luck if you do react to it mate. Love the channel by the way.
Celotex is the company who supplied the cladding for the tower knowing it was highly flammable. Basically they bought the contract by donating massive amounts of money to politicians and so they could actually influences policy at a government level.
The people in the pictures are those who were not found and listed as dead. There were many there under the radar and their bodies not retrieved so listed as missing. The actual number of those died is well over the listed 76. And still today there are buildings clad in this flammable material putting lives at risk! This video still haunts me to this day
they cut corners while "refurbishing" negligence lead to so many deaths ... dave said it best in question time... anybody who knew about that cladding should be charged under joint enterprise.... its a heavy track and a horrible situation that could of been avoided #justiceforgrenfell
As a structural engineer in the NW US I don't know anyone who would put their stamp, reputation, and more importantly humanity on something that doesn't meet international and local fire codes. Ethics is foundational to engineering. Whomever signed off on using flammable materials should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
the translation of the Arabic part of the song goes like this ( Tell me where to go, people are burning in Al-Sahoor time, I feel like I am in another world) ....Al-Sahoor is an Arabic word for the few minutes before the dawn time
The where is part is the people who were trapped but because they can’t get up to those Flores and they were never pronounced as dead and added to list of people who died they said they were missing it’s thought that there is over 100 over added onto the 72 who were officially dead 😭
It's so powerful. Lowkey is a legend. He was actually at the tower. He lives in the building next door.... His activism stuff is always on point. Massive props to him.
React to Ghosts of Grenfell part 2 The cladding on the building was not legal, it was against the safety rules and regulations because it would possibly cause a serious fire and it did just like this. So the council and government are being held responsible because of the neglect that they were facing.
@@LifeOfPanos I think the person means he didn't feature in the video in order to take the spotlight away from himself and put it on the incident and the locals who are lip synching his lyrics
Good reaction. People are still waiting for permanent housing. It's 'Did they die? Or us? Did they die for us?'. If you didn't catch the Arabic it's: 'Tell me where I can go? People are burning at the hour of Sahoor, I feel as if I’m in another world.' ...Also unrelated, but you have a bit too much compression on your voice btw, pumping. Sounds OK in this but noticed it a bit in your other reactions Just FYI. 👊🏻

There was a lot more than 72 that lost there lives that day but as always we are lied to and still no justice

Respect for reading up before hand.

Cheaper products = more profit.
Just wish more people had respect for their position in humanity as you do. Bless you.

The people named at the end are not accounted for in the 76 and are classified as missing people

Hey man. Glad you reacted. I suggested this one. :)
Yeah man, the council deliberately went for the cheaper, dangerous thermal cladding.....
After the tragedy they played down the numbers of deaths but there were loads of people missing.

The buiding see stands, and no one arrestd..And the death toll is closer to hundreds.. the fire was hot, snd long enough to crmet them

Notice how he doesn't feature. Very intentional

Did they die or us 2 times did they die for us.
Cheaply made heavy flammable
|It's not corruption, just bad regulations. Which should have been fixed.
Psyop.
It didn't touch me.
Wooho 1st. Lol
