    I went to CS66 in the late 80s-early 90s (on Jennings St and Boone Avenue) and from the 2nd and 3rd floors, there was a fantastic view of the Redbird/R62A 6 trains. I loved looking out the window everyday. Also, in one of my classrooms on the 4th floor facing north on Boone, you can look at the 2 or 5 train Redbird train entering East Tremont Avenue/West Farms Square. Memories like these make me miss NYC so much!

    Neat how you zoomed in over on the #6 train at 0:45. Amazing how your camera makes it look like it's just a few blocks away! I've walked the distance between the Simpson St. station and the #6 line and it's over a 1/4 mile away. I grew up back when the classic trains (R-12 thru R-36) were running and I'm amazed at how fast these new trains seem to whip it through that sharp curve next to the Simpson St. station! Likely the lighter weight of these modern subway cars helps. I remember that the Redbirds almost always took the curve at between 5 to10 mph, even during rush hour.

      Yeah I have to admit this camera is good for that. Yeah I miss the Redbirds being over here those where the days. I'm sorry for the late reply.

      No apologies necessary. It's nice to see this video again as I see things that bring back fond childhood memories. One question: I assume that you live in the Bronx. I hear that things really cleaned up and got better from the 90s to early 2000s but now crime is getting crazy again. Is this true? I've been wanting to visit the Bronx again but now wonder if it's safe? I walked these streets as well as the Allerton and Pelham areas and would like to see them again....Thanks.

      Nah I live in Brooklyn. But Bronx & Brooklyn is still the same but not as bad as back then. Crime is not too bad but I still would watch your back at all cost. Yeah come back to visit just don't come to late.

    I attended CS66 in the late 80s-early 90s (on Jennings St and Boone Avenue across from both District 12 office and Fannie Lou Hamer HS). I loved looking out the window toward the Whitlock Avenue bridge and seeing the Redbird/R62A 6 train passing through. It was a fantastic view. Actually, in one of the 4th floor classrooms facing Boone

    When they arrive at Westchester avenue, they should have said "Transfer is available to the 6 train", in which the 6 train is in Westchester Sq-East Tremont Avenue

    • @Allen1628famm
      @Allen1628famm  8 років тому

      That's kinda far for that. But I get what your saying.

      actually it may be another (6) station but there can be a transfer still if the 2/5 service is delayed and they had to switch to (6) train

      It is a long stretch. I wonder if you can transfer from the train at Simpson St. directly to the #42 bus which stops right below this station and runs straight east to Westchester Square, so there would be no need to hop on the #6 train at all.

      @Allen1628famm  8 років тому

      Yeah only if it's a major delay.

    I know that at West Farms Square, you can see part of the (6) train passing the Whitlock Avenue bridge
