    I worked for the Museum for many years, that plaque on the pier is slightly misleading, the Hornet referred to on that plaque that Jimmy Doolittle flew the raid on Tokyo from was USS Hornet CV-8, which was sunk at the battle of Santa Cruz in 1942.

    Extremely impressive, especially the vast space of the flight deck. I was lucky enough to visit the ship on a beautiful day - similar to what is shown in this video.😀

    My father served on Hornet during Korean War.. I live on east coast but plan on visiting some day

    My father did a stint on the Hornet before being transferred to the Independence.

    Thanks for the video. I was stationed in Alameda in 1978-79 but I don't remember having the USS Hornet there as a museum.

      Hornet (CV-12) was decommissioned in 1970 and stayed in the mothball fleet in Puget Sounds during that time. She was designated a National Historic Landmark 1991 and given to the Carrier Hornet Foundation in 1998
