  • Toonstruck, it's like Roger Rabbit but instead of having a rabbit in it, it's got Christopher Lloyd in it... Oh wait, he was in Roger Rabbit as well... And this game has a rabbit in it... But this definitely isn't like Roger Rabbit. I mean, it sort of is, but it's not, because this is Toonstruck and it's a point and click adventure game for PC and it definitely isn't influenced by Roger Rabbit. Apart from the live action bits with cartoons, that's a bit similar. And all the other similarities. It's Toonstruck!

Its in my top 5 favourite point n clicks i remember getting this for my birthday back in 1996.
One of the animators who worked on this as well as the 2nd half which was going to be the sequel uploaded some videos on YT with some unseen animations and locations.

the alternate universe version of Roger Rabbit where Judge Doom is the good guy! also I wouldn't be surprised if this is where Yahtzee Croshaw got the name Malevolands from for his Mogworld novel, either consciously or subconsciously 🤔🤔🤔

Toonstruck will always be one of my favourite games, I spent so much time as a kid playing this. Great video.

Even though I'm a total point and click nut this is one that had totally passed me by... I may well have to give it a go now!

Definitely should do - as someone who gets constantly miffed with games like this, there was only about 5 times where I was at the end of my tether in a game that is fairly long for its type. It's available on GOG for about a fiver I think? Maybe a tenner. Usually goes on sale though.

I finished the game today, it was so much fun!! How could I have missed this all those years??
Regarding the King's bedroom: it's unfair to call it pixel hunting. The space you can click is huge, it's totally your fault :)
Search everything for hotspots, never assume your done after doing one thing.
I'm sure you know that, but we'll, sometimes we don't see the forest because of those damn trees!
Oh, and let me tell you that I really enjoy your videos!!

I just finished this game. Its a mixed bag alright. Chris Loyd as Guybrush in a Sam and Max remake of Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

Great Review thank you! Loved Toonstruck as a child even though I didn't made it very far back then.

The hardest point and click I ever played was Kingdom O' Magic which had voices mostly from John Sessions. It was a CDROM sized pain. And weirdest one was probably Torin's Passage. Never met anyone who's played either of them so feel like I've made them up.

One of your major gripes was the ladder. It's a large hit box. All you have to do is just... move your mouse around.

Reminds me of Monkey Bone, that movie where Brendan Fraser plays a cartoonist that goes into a coma and is trapped in this weird whacky dream world where his cartoon creation is a living, breathing person.
A cool idea, but in execution, it didn't really work out. The first half was pretty sweet but then it becomes a completely different movie in the second half.

Though the puzzles are beyond cruel I really enjoyed this game. I remember being so bummed about the cliffhanger ending and never getting a part 2.

    • @RoseTintedSpectrum

Definitely deserved a sequel, unfortunately I think the game landed when P&C were just falling out of favour.

    • @user-is4jf8yr4z
      @user-is4jf8yr4z Рік тому

Absolutely. Such a shame. It should have come out at the height of the P&C hype in 94 or 95 at the latest. The whole game also feels like they had to rush it to market and couldn't quite get all the finishing touches. There were some concept art images for a 2nd part released but nothing more. I remember seeing them in a gaming magazine back then. @@RoseTintedSpectrum

Got this game, not played it since the 90s but loved it, the cartoon aesthetic, music, humour which yes could be pretty adult at times ha. In the last few years been playing Discworld for the 1st time, which has similarities but brutally hard illogical puzzles, still haven't motivated myself to finish it ha

I remember getting so stuck on this game. It turned out that the original version of the game I was playing had a timed puzzle that was dependent on the speed of your processor. So I had to install a 3rd party program to nerf my processor speed just to get past this. I'm hoping they fixed this in the GoG version. Oh and I love the fact you can pick up a literal red herring that does nothing.

Wow this seems pretty cool. Never heard of it. I enjoyed Grim Fandango but never got far, got further in the remake but still quit after a short time.
Walking Dead Season One & Borderlands Series One were both incredible based on the interactive story element, with a good enough story and choice you dont need puzzles IMO. What killed Telltale i think was reviewer's showing us and people realising it was only the illusion of choice and everyones story was identical - i think this was the big issue rather than it being too easy.
IMO Telltale Games were what visual novels should be, if they could include many different paths and a dozen endings in the games, so that you can have exciting conversations with someone else about what happened to them
