I am 61 and just beginning to learn to dance. I've always loved dance but have never taken any lessons - until now. I signed up for private lessons at a local ballroom, and I "supplement" those lessons with practicing your routines. I love your teaching style, Amanda. You are a born instructor and an incredible dancer. I do not hope to ever achieve the fluidity and grace you demonstrate in your every move, but I am trying, and loving it. Thank you so much for posting your routines!
The thing is that, especially with my wife who grew up w/ heavy salsa dancing, I think the cardigan helps because it traditionally makes it harder to learn salsa from a guy if you were a woman, or us learning from a woman if we’re guys. The males lead in the dance but females are becoming more common in leading, but there are also two distinct styles each dancer has when you see it in action. I think the cardigan def helps with that to make it learnable by both sexes/genders.
I can see it with the cardigan. Stop making an issue out of nothing! You literally want her stripping down. A cardigan for many ppl is for modesty. It doesn’t take away from the dance. You act like it hides her body when it doesnt
I've been looking for a video like this, I'm learning to salsa dance at home during Covid. So, when it's safe to go out again I will to be salsa club ready. Excellent tutorial..Thanks for sharing ! 👍😊
Thank you for this video! I love dancing and have done it for my whole life so far (I'm almost 19), but I never actually learned this type before, and I enjoy it lots!
Grazie
Thank you so much, I think I can learn this one. I've had a hard time learn any cool, nice dance move and know I can impress my cousins and enjoy dancing with confidence
I enjoyed practicing with you. It was easy to follow through. I love Salsa. Please, it would be great to show us the steps without cardigan so we can get the full body movement.💗
That's awesome, for other recordings it would be geat to change couple of things though visually - Black background merges your upper body with it. hard to distinguish - loose dark sweater hides your movement
Trying to learn this, since I've alwasy loved latin dances, but never tried learning any. My balance and limb coordination is terrible, but I'll work on it until I hopefully become a little better.
Dank je voor de vidio, heel goed, kan hem nu ook dansen de Salsa, op les hebben wij daar 2 md over gedaan. Is echt een goeden les, dankje wel. Groeten van Totie van Nooortwijk. Bay bay
I learn Salsa in my community, and they always told us for us woman we start the basic step with the right leg back... when we danse as a couple The man start with the left leg front.
Thank you for this channel, Ilove it! Can we have more music time at the end of the routine, say 5 minutes of the whole routine to music, which should also help with the UA-cam algorithm, as the longer you can keep us on the channel and UA-cam itself, the better your rankings!!! Another idea could be to create a playlist for each dance, a video showing the steps, just like this excellent one (although is was quite hard for beginners), then a video where you just play music for 10+ minutes and dance the routine shown in the video, this video could then be viewed over and over again by the same people as a practice, which again the algorithm will love! Then you could create an intermediate set of videos, followed by a 10+ music video described above etc., hope you get the idea. Thanks again!
It's difficult to see what you're doing with the big coat on and your back turned. Also -- the defining movement of Salsa is the Cuban hip movement, which means when you step forward (in basic step) the hip over the forward stepping leg moves down, and same when you're stepping back or to the side. From what I can see through your coat your hips are either staying level when you step, or moving slightly upward, which is more a samba hip style.
It's helpful with her back turned because when you're learning, it's easier to have her left foot your left foot etc, rather than have to mentally 'reverse'. I find that, anyway
While I am enjoying learning how to dance salsa from you, I would also like to know and learn what to do with my arms. I can see that your arms are going along with your legs, with the coat you are wearing, it is hard to see the full motion. It would help as I am not Latin, so it does not come naturally to me. Do you have any other lessons that show the arm movements as well as the legs and feet. By the way, I am Felix's wife.

Totally with you there Eva. I'm 56 and just starting. Xxx
Great lesson! Thank you! Would be much better without a cardigan so that to understand how hips move
I thought exactly the same…the clothing didn’t cut fit but the lesson is great
I agree completely with the comment above. Love your lesson - miss the hips.

It’s to say, that the way to dance salsa, the dude leads first always and the girl follows
I can see it with the cardigan. Stop making an issue out of nothing! You literally want her stripping down. A cardigan for many ppl is for modesty. It doesn’t take away from the dance. You act like it hides her body when it doesnt
Very few tutorials understand the significance of putting the steps from behind. It’s so much cleare to understand. Great tutorial. Thank you
Easy to understand and follow! Not too much talking, just perfect! Thank you!
Thank you teaching the basic steps of salsa solo this step is to have told I got a medal 🥇

So fun! Still learning to wiggle but these steps are very accessible 😁
That's awesome, for other recordings it would be geat to change couple of things though visually
- Black background merges your upper body with it. hard to distinguish
- loose dark sweater hides your movement

What song you've used in the dance? Please I really need it for our PE
Excellent 👍 Love it , thank you so much 🥰
You’re welcome! 😄
You look very pretty here
Очень нравится это видео Я постоянно возвращаюсь на ваш сайт...
I learn Salsa in my community, and they always told us for us woman we start the basic step with the right leg back... when we danse as a couple The man start with the left leg front.
there are a few different styles of starting "on 1" or "on 2". It differs with regions and where you live but you can certainly learn all of them.
Excelente
Thank you! 🤗
Amazing routine. Thank you so much. What is the name of the song?

But I could follow last....good one

That's what I thought as well. Why would you cover more than half of your body in a dance like salsa?!
@@mariacycareva I think possibly because in this particular clip she's not focusing on the hip movements, she's focusing on the feet steps
It's helpful with her back turned because when you're learning, it's easier to have her left foot your left foot etc, rather than have to mentally 'reverse'. I find that, anyway
👍👍👍
