    0:00 Why I chose online art school
    3:08 TheVirtualInstructor.com
    5:32 21-Draw.com
    9:42 CreatureArtTeacher.com
    13:49 Schoolism.com
    20:34 NMA.art
    These are the 5 best online art schools that I've tried personally (and I've tried over a dozen). The criteria I used for making this list are that the school has a great roster of classes, exceptional teaching, it offers a subscription (monthly and yearly) and that subscription plan has to be affordable (below $100/month. All of the art schools that I chose are well below that).
    Here are the online art schools I chose:
    5. The Virtual Instructor: TheVirtualInstructor.com
    * What it is: a school that offers projects and instruction on mastering a diverse range of specific mediums.
    * What stands out: You can learn the basics (and often much more) about just about every medium on the planet here.
    * Who it's great for: hobbyists, beginner artists, artists who want to break out of an art block and artists who want to learn the basics of a specific medium that's new to them.
    4. 21 Draw: 21-Draw.com
    * What it is: A school that offers courses in fundamentals and specialty classes, like illustrating appealing characters and environment design.
    * What stands out: Its fun classes that are jam-packed with info.
    * Who it's great for: All artists can find something here, but it's especially helpful for intermediate and advanced artists. Artists wanting to break out of an art block or a style rut will enjoy the school's diverse classes and fun style.
    3. Creature Art Teacher/Aaron Blaise: CreatureArtTeacher.com
    * What it is: A school that offers classes on core principles like light, perspective, etc., as well as a heft selection of animation classes and specialty classes in anatomy, character design and nature drawing/painting.
    * What stands out: Its comprehensive and well taught human and animal anatomy courses and its animation courses.
    * Who it's great for: Artists at all levels will find something here, but it's especially helpful for intermediate and advanced artists to level up their skills. Artists who are planning to/already work in the entertainment/animation or illustration industries would especially love and get a lot from this site.
    2. Schoolism: Schoolism.com
    * What it is: A school that offers specialized courses for artists pursuing a particular area of the art industry like character design, creature design, book illustration, etc., as well solidifying core principles like light, perspective, etc.
    * What stands out: Its roster of huge-name artists from the entertainment & gaming industries who are teaching.
    * Who it's great for: Intermediate and advanced artists will benefit the most from classes here. Artists who are planning to/already work in the entertainment or gaming industries would especially love and get a lot from this site.
    #bestonlineartschools #onlineartclasses #onlineartschoolreviews
    1. New Masters Academy: NMA.art
    * What it is: A school that offers the option of either pursuing particular art tracks, just like you would in an in-person art school or taking the classes that interest you (or both). The school emphasizes solidifying the core fundamentals like figure drawing, anatomy, perspective, etc. and offers a vast array of classes to help do that, as well as a huge number of additional classes in supporting topics, such as animal anatomy, landscape painting, character design, etc.
    * What stands out: The volume of comprehensive courses; The ability to follow a course/career track from beginning to end; and the titans of the art industry teaching.
    * Who it's great for: Artists of all skill levels. It's especially geared toward the serious art student. They have a full section for beginners to get started with fundamentals and intermediate & advanced artists will find more than enough to help them hone, refresh and level up skills. Any artist following or interested in pursuing a career in fine art, illustration or entertainment will especially love the classes here.
    _______________________________
    Side note: There are other great online sites that offer courses, but that didn't fit the bill for my criteria. One such site is Proko.com, which offers excellent teaching, but doesn't offer a subscription model. Another one is CG Academy, which offers great classes that are the same level of education as the sites I've chosen, but for a lot more money.

    You should check evolve artist training course, you pay for the foundation course, you're given all your oil painting supplies, you just have to furnish the easel, there are no monthly payments other than the monthly 12 payment plan. Other than that you have no monthly fees and an instructor will grade your work.

    I was so interested in becoming an artist until I was a sophomore in high school. I took a design class and said to the teache, "I want to go to college and major in art". She kept on erasing the chalk board and said, without looking at me,"don't bother."
    It took me another 25 years to take a college level course in drawing. Drawing is not my favorite thing but that professor was life changing for me, as he told me to go and "just DO it!" So I did. After graduation it took another 17 years (when my youngest graduated from high school) to actually work on becoming a professional artist but here I am at 73 years old and loving every minute of my ability to work as an artist and sell my work. I'm a poster child for not listening to the negative feedback from even teachers you respect.

    I can fully understand giving up on art. I have struggled with this for quite some time. My lack of confidence (from a lack of training) is crushing.
    I hope you've successfully resumed your artistic journey!🎨

    Thanks very much for the video. I got a Bachelor of Fine Arts, but it really didn't give me adequate skills to become the artist I want to be. I spent the last couple of decades busy with family and now want to get back into it so this is helpful.

    What's nice about creature art teacher is that you only have to pay once and you own the course forever. So your subscription can expire, but you can still watch the courses you saved.

      I subscribed to The Virtual Instructor for one year . Matt is an excellent teacher and the resources he provides are wonderful. There are many ways to learn art but The Virtual Instructor creates resources that enable the student to learn in the way that fits for him or her. His lessons cover every area that you will want to develop . I was a beginner and focused on graphite drawing, colored pencils, watercolor painting, pastels, charcoal. I recently have become excited about charcoal work and I'm considering renewing for another year with the Virtual Instructor because of the vast number of lessons in Charcoal. I have no personal relationship or benefit from this review. I am just a huge fan of his art school. If you are a "new" artists or an experienced art in one medium but want to develop in other media, this would be a great place to work. I also think students, middle school through college, would love this as well.

    I had a love of art when I was in school and I wanted to be a Commercial artist. But my parent was against it. They said a black artist will never be hired in the 1980s. So I swiched to a nursing course and over the years my artist spark died. Nursing was just a 12 hour job, but I had no time for art. Now that I am retired I am trying to find that love again but it is not easy.

    Great video but does any school help you with tips on how to break in your respective industry's for example like digital animation

    • @AmberwingArt
      @AmberwingArt  2 роки тому +2

      Yes, Aaron Blaise's site has quite a few classes on how to break into the animation industry, how to pitch your ideas, etc. He also has some free videos on his YT channel. Aaron's site is super helpful for non-animators, but aspiring animators will be in heaven on his site. Because he himself is an animator, his site is animation-heavy. He's really an amazing resource.

    Someone had said that is was only a fluke when I sold my piece of art for a lot of money and I still keep thinking about it, although it was very many years ago. I've sold more art, remaining crushed by that awful statement, but I slowly gave up art completely. I'm so scared to start my work again, worrying that maybe that person was right.☹️

    • @AmberwingArt
      @AmberwingArt  Рік тому +2

      It's so hard when we get inside of our head. I've had similar things happen. So it's important to just remember why you make art: because you love it and make sure that you keep loving it. That passion for art will help push you through blocks like what you're going through. I hope you find your way back!

      NEVER give up your dream. Ever notice how's there is always one person to drag you down and kill it for you? Don't give them that power. I'm 70 and starting my journey after being an oncology nurse for decades. Nothing will stop me. Go for it-do it for yourself!!!

      New Masters Academy really can't be beat as far as a comprehensive art education. The other schools are all amazing as supplementary learning, but New Masters is pretty much everything that you'll get at an in-person art school, but it's online.

  • @felipebarroso1242
    @felipebarroso1242 10 місяців тому

    New Masters Academy offers really good quality classes but they're also way toooo long, which annoys me a little. Sometimes you wanna watch long classes to follow the teacher drawing or painting and understand all their steps, but not always necessary. I think they should adjust that.
