That was such an excellent outing to somewhere I've not been for a little while! It was great to go back there on that particular day with the most beautiful sunset - just stunning. I'll be showing my version of this outing next week!
Omg, I was thinking to myself keep it and make the leg lamp. Lol. As long as it’s been tumbling in the river, it shouldn’t break as easily as the one in A Christmas Story. 😂
You have so many historian archefacts lying around (ships, bottles, Roman finds, pipe bowls, pontons and, and and). It seems like it is so much, that only mudlarkers care about it. Over here in the Netherlands you don't have that. Sure there are places where you like to find history, but you's have to look very intesively. It's mostly not near the surface, so you'd have to dig and search for a longg time. It's so much fun to 'walk with you' and see the things you find and look at the landscape 👍🏻
“How deep is your mud”?? Hahahahaha!!!! I will refrain from a detailed comment on that song title. Hilarious Si! And Nicola dear,.. you are rock’n those green sequins!
I just have to say, during this pandemic and with a tragedy in my family as well, your channel has kept my brain occupied on enjoying the thrills of the moment. I have always been a little scavenger here in the states, looking for arrowheads and fossils, but for my birthday yesterday, I went out and bought my very first metal detector after being inspired by your adventures and luck in the muck. Thanks for sharing your love of history with all of us. You've helped, without knowing, keep my head straight during a really awful moment in life. Thanks for all you do to preserve history.
I found a deceased chap on my local beach in May 2019. I remember walking out to him thinking "I hope this is a manakin" sadly it wasn't. You get used to finding all sorts of dead stuff when you beachcomb but you never expect to find a person. Quite a shock.
My girlfriend and I were out with our fellows many years back. We came upon a heap of Seaweed, and a man who had drowned a few days before on the same beach! What a scare for us as teenagers!!!
Love the education. Working man on the river songs very nice. I really enjoy seeing the struggle in the mud especially when you find something so worth the effort. You have my respect and enthusiasm.
You two were very sweet in your Christmas gear. Sci - I love the upcycle of the newspapers and found objects! Great salvage on the newspapers, use of the objects AND creation of a new useful object! Well done!
Fun hunt! Love the leg... it would have scared the heck out of me too! Cool bottles today too. Thanks for sharing your muddy adventures with us. Congratulations to the winner of the pendant!
What a fun muddy outing! I think all of us here in the US thought of the Christmas story leg lamp when you found the leg. " It's a major award!" 😂 Merry Christmas and a happy luck in the muck new Year!
A glorious day for a holiday lark! Thank You! Simon, for taking us aboard the old barges & closing the year with lovely shots of the sunset. Happy holidays, every one! 🎅🐱
That was great !! Those old boats, are so interesting and cool!! I hope you have a wonderful and Happy Christmas!!!! Hope 2021 is going to be a better year for all of us!!!
Completely unrelated to mudlarking, but seeing that leg reminded me of my grandma. She had one leg since she was 13. Had a false leg which she hated. When she moved house, she left it in the cupboard under the stairs. As I'm here, have a good 25th, if that's possible this year and have a better 2021.
Oh brother, LOL, now when I listen to that Bee Gees song I will be thinking of you and Nicola's lark amongst the barge wreckage and your squelching, muddy boots. 😹 Congrats to ChantillyChandra on winning the beautiful necklace, what a wonderful Christmas bonus gift. Merry Muddy Christmas and Happy Hunting Holidays!
Merry Christmas Simon and Nic! thanks for a wonderful year of finds and interesting Sunday morning vids. A better year ahead for us all is just around the corner!!
I recall that in my history class I was taught that King John of the Magna Carta fame, lost all the Crown Jewels somewhere in the mud flats on the English Coast... I wasn't there, so it's not an issue with me... You're a very good presenter of both the mudlarking and the cleaning up of your findings... PS... you're in good company, too A very good Christmas to you both.🙏
Thank you Simon for a wonderful year of mudlarking, you certainly sent bucket loads of cheer and wonderful moments in a dark and torrid time in our history. Please stay safe and well and enjoy your Christmas and New Year. 🌟
That walking into the sun on the horizon shot was gorgeous🌅 Hope you have a nice break thanks so much for all the videos, knowledge and giggles shared throughout the year, reckon you made the good list 🎄🎅⛄
Awesome to see you two out and enjoying decent weather!!! And mud! And in case you got stuck, you could use Nicola's jacket to flag down a passing hovercraft, UFO or satellite!!! Loved the cinematic shots and the accompanying songs! Both of you -- and your families and friends -- have a safe, healthy and Happy Christmas!!!!
Lovely scenic shots. It just gets better. Wishing you both and families all the very best for Christmas and the new year. Thank you, and just keep doing what you're doing : ) x
Another great video for Sunday. Especially since the Covid is out of hand again in my town and is a cold rainy day to boot. I also lost my Aunt a week ago so I needed this. Nothing like a video from you to get me through 🥰💕
That song. That song. Here, across the Atlantic,I sit here, and I admit that I weep. It is beautiful a song of a river. We treasure the rivers,do we not? Yes. Yes,we do.
Something about this channel is so relaxing, yet so engaging at the same time, from the history lessons, to the amazing art created, plus Si seems like a really great guy! If you're reading this thank you for the great content!

Simon, your mudlarking videos are turning into art films. Your talent at the compositions and music is really fantastic.
Thank you so much!!
Mud and sequins?!!! I love it!
It always baffles me how you can’t see the selfie stick in Si’s hand 😂
I know.... me too!
@@margiebrown7436 It`s using a 360 camera that does it ,the camera can`t see the stick as it is beneath the camera
Right!?
@@ukzen9309 but his hand is beneath the stick...sometimes the whole of him is beneath the stick...and you can still see him....but not the stick 🤔🤣

I find tree gum,the odd bottle sea- smoothed bricks from an old brickworks here in new Zealand. I am thinking of getting a metal detector too.

"The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath"
And with such a short stem
Do you suppose
That most of the smoke
Went up his nose.
The 20th century pictures usually show a churchwarden pipe.
So funny, I had to laugh at your outfits when you both were walking along. Thanks for all the fun throughout this past year 👍💞
