Yes! The great majority is just plastic on plastic on plastic! And you can‘t refill. It would be so cool if you could buy metal cases and everyone produced powders etc that just fit a standard size. That way you could still switch brands but keep the waste to a minimum.
@@mercedesvelasquez8781 Gucci isn't really something your average joe can afford and refillable lipstick tubes aren't exactly nice looking, they look just as boring as regular non refillable lipstick tubes (I guess less waste is a plus but it's not like these vintage one where anyone would buy just for the nice appearance)

When my great aunt died she left a huge house full of random items; antique, vintage, modern. With that was a ton of make up from the 20's and 30's and I feel so blessed to have them. I thank her for preserving them the way she did, most never used and the ones that were were cleaned and kept safe.
When I was growing up my next door neighbor was a very elderly woman (probably about mid 90s now) and she would let me sit down at her vanity and play with her vintage powder and makeups. I miss her
I just bought my first vintage compact this month! I repressed new powder in the pan (after washing it) and now all I need is a new puff. They are so beautiful and sleek, I wish cosmetics were more sustainable like these vintage ones. But regardless. Such beautiful treasure to find.

I have a HUGE collection of vintage compacts. It’s become a fun hobby. My grandma also bought me my 1st one and now every birthday she gifts me with one. Grandma’s are the best 💖

I used to collect vintage compacts with the metal latch and door that used to store powder in it but was now empty. They would have some beautiful designs on the front:)
these are so cool!! i love useful little vintage gadgets i love that u have a lot of your grandma's and aunt's stuff i wish it was the case for my grandmas i only have a few clothes and boxes one of my great grandmas had this very typically soanish shawl and i would have loved having it to this day but the silk got destroyed because of aging i suppose ironically i want to become a textile restorator now!! hopefully i can help some other grandmas' shawls in the future
Here is a good tip for scarfs no matter the material look for a very specific type of aryclic clear box not any typical kind will do but look for the kind that has uv protection it's the same clear arylic box that all these fashion folks have and use for their designer scarfs & purses.. I only suggest this because it's worth the investment just so you save whatever is special to you so it won't further damage because like myself I have all sorts of beautiful cotton & silk scarfs that belong to my grandma that she gave to my mom that my mom has now given me and I want to make sure I properly preserve them is all so I have done research on what to do.
Those are so beautiful! I have one of my great grandmother’s compacts with a little holder on the side to hold a carry-size perfume. It’s completely empty but I can still smell the scent of the perfume and I’ve been on the hunt for it ever since but the perfume was discontinued in the 80’s 😭
