Lol. “Just like dating.” Thanks for giving me the laugh of the day. 😂
I tried to stop from laughing but couldn't lol.
@ I didn’t know where to post this question. But I wonder if you have a video which explains how the dashboards work when integration of Etsy and Printify is done. I am referring to, customer buys, I want to understand revenue and all costs related to the purchase. It’s so confusing because Etsy dashboards don’t seem to be doing a good job. And on Printify I see different numbers. It’s so confusing.
Thanks for your brutal honesty. I can say I had some designs that sucked from the last time you said this, so I dumped some and added more. Thanks a bunch
Not everyone listened the first time, so thank you! I plan to release another video next week to show what I mean by making small changes to successful items to help increase sales.
lol. Totally agree. My kids haven’t bought any of my stuff even when I told them I would send them money 😅
Design is a steep learning curve especially Adobe Illustrator but it’s rewarding to learn. Great video as usual. Keep us honest EM 😊
I definitely fell into this trap early on. Thought I had a gift, but I was really just pushing duds for the first few months, lol. I hope this helps everyone see that we all go through it. I’ll be releasing another video next week showing how I quickly adjust my best sellers to try and boost sales even more!
Like your honesty. Spot on. I look back to the designs we made in our first year or two and UGH! Definitely a learning process.
You give really meaningful advice. We find the same thing that you do about culling bad listings. In fact, we opened a 2nd shop to test it out. We limit that store to 100 listings. When we create a new item and go over 100, we drop the biggest loser. It makes your shop smell so much better, and sales are doing very well. Conversion is 4%-5%. Our large shop has 1500 items and conversion is 1.5%. Big realization! (BTW, I'm guessing that 1200 designs in our large store actually suck LOL)
Thank you! Definitely run the numbers on those 1,500 designs. I kicked myself after seeing the data By year two, I doubled my profits by removing the non-sellers and one-off sales. Just like you did with your other store with 100 items, it made a huge difference and boosted my profits significantly. Rinse and repeat-it’s a fantastic strategy, and I’m so glad to see you doing the same!
Love this video! A lot of people need to hear this!
So many people got caught in this trap. I just hope I was able to save a few!
Extremely helpful! Thank you!
You’re so welcome! Thanks for watching 😊
I always wondered what to do if things weren’t selling. Thank you for the advice!
You’re welcome! I’m planning to release another video next week that goes more in-depth on how I tweak designs with small changes.
did you just say that course will be FREE? or i mis-heard it? Damn, now i gotta count for a days. cant wait for that. 😍🙏
Yep, completely free! And it’ll have more info than anything out there-not the generic crap you find everywhere else. I was aiming for a December release, but it might be January… unless I figure out how to clone myself, lol!
@ you are the only one that i can blindly trust when we talk about etsy gurus or mentors. 😍✌🏻
I really appreciate your mentorship George...thank you sincerely very much for helping and teaching us so graciously and honestly...like a big brother 😊❤❤
Hi How do you determine when to archive a listing? I’m curious about the specific metrics you use, such as sales, views, and favorites, and the time frame you analyze for those metrics.
Since I have a lot of traffic, I can analyze performance within 30 days. However, I recommend extending that to 60 or even 90 days for less traffic. I base my decisions on views, favorites, purchases, and any messages about the item.
That said, it’s important to note that your SEO needs to be spot-on for this process to work. If your SEO isn’t optimized, your items won’t get enough traffic or views, which can skew your data. This might make it hard to determine whether the issue lies with the design or the SEO.
Also, never delete an item. Archive it. The trend or item could become popular again a few months or even years later.
Totally agree. I watch mine and after 2 renewals if there is no traffic I don’t renew again. Those designs are archived.
That's a great strategy!
Great video! How long do you normally wait before getting rid of a listing that hasn’t sold?
I typically review listings at 30, 60, and 90-day intervals. For newer shops, starting with 60 to 90 days can be more effective since traffic is often slower in the beginning. Once your shop starts gaining traction, you can evaluate performance every 30 days-unless it’s a seasonal item tied to a specific holiday.
Would you recommend making the duds inactive and when I create a new design or product to sell to basically reuse that inactive listing and put new title description and SEO for the new design/product? OR a just create a new posting altogether from scratch?
Sort of! I made this video afterward to explain what I mean by creating best sellers. This one should help you better understand the concept: ua-cam.com/video/MW_-0xccX8Q/v-deo.html
Harsh 😂😂😂😂😂, but true.
I'm sooo bad of letting go of my first rubbish designs. I keep telling myself they will start to sell....eventually. I think it's because I spent so much time creating them.
I'm going to have a mass clearcut now you've kicked my butt 🤦🏾♀️
I kept my garbage designs up for far too long, and it ended up hurting my sales. So hopefully I can prevent the same from happening to others.
❤ simply the best - thank you!
Thank you for your support!
😂 I’m going to get rid of the losers. I would love to see a video on how to do analysis. Where to look exactly and what is the baseline to look for. I don’t know what I don’t know and I want to know. Thank you George. I appreciate your content very much. Excellent quality!

Hi George, how long do you recommend giving a listing before getting rid of it? Thank you!!
I review listings every 30, 60, and 90 days. For newer shops, it’s may be better to stick with 60 to 90 day intervals since traffic might be lower at the start. As your shop gains momentum, you’ll be able to assess performance within 30 days-unless it’s a holiday-specific item.
@@EtsyMentor Thank you so much. Do you have any plans on doing any videos on how to scale your store beyond, lets say, $10k Revenue/month. A lot of people talk about how to get those first couple hundred sales, but nobody talks about how to really scale once you've gotten there.
Yes, I definitely plan to cover that! If you’re already making $10K a month and want to scale further, feel free to shoot me an email-I’d be happy to share some advice.
@@EtsyMentor Thank you again. I sent you an email. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
Thanks for the video!
Always a pleasure! I’ve got another one coming out soon where I’ll show my actual process using Kittl!
Do you keep the same seo titles, tags, and description for the new ones you make off of your bestsellers? This is where i struggle with the doubling down on ones that are selling. Also, would love design ideas on how to double down. Thanks
P.S. where's tiger? 😂
I make each one slightly different and then monitor the keywords to see which ones drive the most traffic. As for the designs, I’m planning to release a video next week showing how I turned one design that made me a lot of money into multiple best sellers. It’ll be a visual walkthrough so people can see how simple it is.
Tiger fell asleep at my feet while filming. She just ate and didn’t have the energy to jump up on the chair LOL.
Oh that's great! I can't wait. I'm a visual learner so that will be helpful for sure. Thank you!
I've been wondering if my designs suck and I would LOVE honest feed back. Can I take you up on that offer to post some of my designs?
Sure! Send me an email, and I’ll take a look for you. It might take me a couple of days to respond, but I promise I will!
How do i go about getting your honest opinion? I know i have some good designs and some crap. I'm looking to scale my shop down after Q4 and focus on a few items with different designs. I don't want to niche it. (Yeah, im one of those 😂)
Send me an email, and I’ll take a look. It might take me a few days, but I promise to get back to you. By the way, one of my suggestions will definitely be to niche down, lol!
@@EtsyMentorhow do I get an email address for you. I can drop my shop link here, but I don't know if that would throw off my shop's algorithms. Everyone would want to critique 😊 (or compare)
george@youretsymentor
@@EtsyMentor thanks! I appreciate it
As a professional designer though I see a lot of crap design that sells well. And a lot of very average, forgettable design that sells spectacularly so don’t give up folks. Lol.
We never truly know what a consumer wants. Just because it’s not our style doesn’t mean it isn’t theirs. What might seem unappealing to us could be perfect for them.
Ignoring how crap my designs are, how many listings do you add to a new store?
The reason I ask is, many experts say don't list agressively as sales velocity is the most important, so list slowly, 1 a day, if you're not getting sales, so no mechanism yet to judge what sells, digital images not POD, you can't replicate and at some point surely Eysy is going to see the shop as duff.
Honestly, all my stores have different numbers of listings, and I don’t really focus on how many I’ve posted. Some days, I might drop 10, then go a month without adding any, lol. Most of these so-called experts couldn't even explain the latest algorithm changes. Either they don’t own stores or are not genuinely interested in helping.
@@EtsyMentor No problem. Having only scored a couple of abondoned baskets since starting to play in the AI pool, I was trying not to spam for want of a better phrase.
It's so easy and fast to make things with AI, so I feel your pain on that!
@@EtsyMentor I'm being fussy now, I bin most now. Maybe I'm binning the wrong ones though. 🤣
I personally don't know that I believe the " 1 a day" advice. I certainly did not follow that rule, I started working on store in April and just reached 1000 sales this past weekend. I think even if there is any truth to that, having good designs overcome a lot of those smaller "rules"
Imma need another tissue 😂
Lmao! I’ll mail you a box.
Hi
Hey
@ did you delete my reply?
Nope
I dont know that i agree with getting rid of the losers. I have items rotate as bestsellers all the time. If i took them out because they were a flop at the start they would never had grown momentum. It only takes one sale to get the ball rolling.
I never said to remove items immediately-that wouldn’t make sense. You need to follow the data. I recommend reviewing your data every 30, 60, and 90 days. If an item isn’t selling, and your SEO and everything else is optimized, keeping it in your shop will hurt your store.
Agreed, my from the start is 9-12 months, not immediately. That wouldnt make sense. Etsy is a long game. I get what u r saying about a bad design but sometimes the stars have not aligned yet for that item. It happens all the time. Out of the blue something will finally sell and next thing its a best seller. Just because an item doesn’t sell, doesn’t mean it sucks. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn’t. Its really difficult to make that decision without all the behind the scenes of Etsy. There has to be a better way to figure out if its the design or just the right person has not found it to get the wheels turning. I know what i do w items i make before listing; pass it by my sisters and mom. They do not hold back because they know i value their opinions and they want me to succeed and not fail. They r brutally honest which i love.
I wouldn't buy those Mama's shirts. It's too much for me 😅😅.
Hey George, I emailed you a little bit ago but I didn’t hear back. Is this video by any chance your reply to me after taking a look at my shop? 😂
I still have about 150 emails to go through, so it can take me a few days to respond. I’m very sorry for the delay. When did you send it?
@ yeah I know you’re super busy, I was just having a joke. I probably sent it a couple of weeks ago, no hurry
If it was sent that long ago and I didn’t respond, it likely ended up in my spam folder. Please send me another email at george@youretsymentor-I’m so sorry about that!
@@EtsyMentor no worries George, thank you. I’ll do it when I get home from work 😊
Why are people still selling on etsy after they are taking more money from you
Name a single platform that doesn’t take a cut when you sell something through them...
Kinda like dating lol
Who knows what I will say next lol.
@@EtsyMentor I'm looking forward to it whatever it is lol
LOL kinda like dating LOL
It's true though, lol.
